Chapter 514: Dual Mission Mode, Nighttime Batman!

“You don’t watch many documentaries?” Bi Fang walked over and asked.

Mandy shook her head.

Bi Fang took the rock from Mandy’s hand, turned it over, and pointing to a small black spot on the stone said, “See this black dot? That’s the hidden camera.”

“You’re not kidding, are you?” Mandy laughed, thinking Bi Fang was bluffing.

“Do you think I’m lying to you?”

Bi Fang rubbed his stomach against the stone, to no avail as he felt for cracks, finally, he gripped at a raised spot with some force and a cover plate was pulled off, revealing the black mechanical device inside.

...

“OH MY GOD!” Mandy was stunned, Bi Fang was actually telling the truth, this machine that looked like a worthless rock, was really a camera?

Aside from rocks of various sizes, upon closer inspection, there were also rotten tree stumps, broken branches, snails that could move, turtles that could run…

If one didn’t look closely, it would be impossible to tell that these items, disguised as inconspicuous natural objects, were top-of-the-line cameras.

“If you watched more Animal Planet, you would know that these are essential equipment for top-tier documentaries, waterproof, fireproof, impact-resistant and with excellent camouflage. These guys are exactly what we need, the real deal that can actually help,” Jerret couldn’t get enough of the wood and stones, and kept kissing a rock.

The rock looked so real that it even had bird droppings on it!

Even if you told someone it was a camera, they probably wouldn’t believe it.

Bi Fang looked at the excited Jerret and was reluctant to interrupt, but out of a sense of morality, he still said, “Hold on a second.”

Jerret was startled, “What’s up?”

Bi Fang took the stone from his hand and scraped on a yellow-white substance, actually shaving off some powder, “Have you ever thought, if it looks like, smells like, and seems like the real thing… it is the real thing?”

Everyone: “…”

“Ew!”

Jerret rushed into the bathroom, frantically rinsing his mouth.

“WTF! It’s actually real bird poop!”

“It must be used equipment, probably Edinburgh called for some of his own gear in use,” said the electrical expert after an inspection, noticing many of them had signs of use.

Richard was elated, “Now we have the equipment, the hardest issue is resolved.”

If ordinary filming equipment was needed, there were many places to rent it, but the pile of treasures in front of them was owned by very few people in the world, with no place to borrow them.

It couldn’t be helped, the demand was too small. Documentaries inherently made little profit, making a hit earned a few awards at best, and documentaries were unlikely to be screened at cinemas, serving mainly for promotion and reputation.

Moreover, ordinary documentaries didn’t need these. What Bi Fang and the others were seeing was possessed only by a few documentary giants.

For close-up shots of animals, venomous snakes, fierce tigers, wild buffaloes, these extremely dangerous creatures, cameramen couldn’t possibly go into the field themselves, or they’d only leave a hefty insurance payout for their families.

But for better filming effects, cameras had to be camouflaged. With modern technology advancing, they could even make a robotic monkey blend into a troop or a robotic land turtle among a group, accepting the robot as one of their own.

What’s more amusing, once when a robotic monkey malfunctioned and fell from a tree, the entire troop wailed, expressing grief at the loss of a companion, a rare and typically unseen scene.

However, Bi Fang didn’t need those, and Sir hadn’t sent them over.

The first Dolphin Bay mission proved one thing, that filming openly or secretly was impossible.

Therefore, Jerret and the others had to play some “dirty tricks”.

“If you can’t tell when it’s in your hands, looks like the equipment’s effect is pretty good,” the electrical expert mocked Mandy, but everyone could see that spirits were high.

Equipment and manpower were in place, just waiting to finish training before heading to Dolphin Bay.

Richard looked toward the Mediterranean, “The equipment still needs further modification and testing, electrical expert, that’s on you. Can you handle it in ten days?”

The electrical expert looked at the items on the table, estimated the time roughly, and nodded.

If they were to be made from scratch, it would take a lot of time and effort, and they might miss the hunting season, but just modifying them, he was confident.

“Then I’ll leave it to you.”

“Don’t worry.”

Seeing everyone’s high morale, Bi Fang clapped his hands to grab their attention, “Alright, since everyone is in good shape, let’s add an extra half hour to today’s workout.”

“OH!”

“COME ON!”

“On such a joyful day, we should have a day off!” Pondy seriously suggested.

“Oh, are you serious?” Bi Fang stood with his legs slightly apart, placing his hands in front of him, ready to strike, “Want to try to last five seconds against me? If you can, you’ll get the day off.”

“What are you guys doing!” Pondy was inexplicably sad, and looking at everyone, his eyes conveyed a message of disappointment, “Sweat more in training, bleed less in battle, don’t you understand that?”

“I’ll take the lead in supporting extra training!”

July 5th.

Bi Fang stopped, panting heavily, wiped the sweat off his forehead, and sat on a wooden seat by the path, carefully and thoroughly reviewing the quest issued by the system. The more he read, the more surprised he became.

This time, he hadn’t edited the quest. It was autonomously released by the system!

Had it sensed his strong desire?

During the journey to Goose, the system had already issued a quest, and it was necessary to modify it when Elvan came knocking. Was it that this time, without even setting a quest, it had perceived reality and thus issued a quest following his direction?

It was even a previously unprecedented dual quest mode. For the first time, Bi Fang knew that this mode existed in the system, and it also introduced a brand-new mode he had never seen before, recording!

Jerret and the others’ first failed attempt had already alerted the locals. It was virtually impossible for the local government or villagers to allow filming, and even just letting them enter would be very difficult.

Under such circumstances, the filming by Bi Fang and others would be “illegal.”

If they chose to livestream, it would be like giving the Baga an X-ray vision hack, exponentially increasing the difficulty of their operation. It wasn’t impossible that they could be caught right away.

The time span was too long, over two months, and the system would definitely issue a task in between. Bi Fang had even considered giving up, but no one expected the system would break through the situation in this way.

It helped him solve his biggest problem.

The moment he finished reading the quest, Bi Fang thought of a solution, which was to livestream black bear hunting during the day and lead Richard and Jerret to film Dolphin Bay at night.

Executing the two quests simultaneously, the former through livestreaming and the latter recorded, would be perfect once everything was over.

Bi Fang became more and more delighted as he thought about it, feeling that the system really suited his wishes, though it meant more hard work.

“How come this sounds so familiar?” Bi Fang stroked his chin.

He suddenly felt that this mode of different activities by day and night felt very familiar, like someone had done something like this before.

“Oh no, isn’t this Batman?” Sitting on the stool and thinking for a long time, Bi Fang slapped his palm with a fist. He wondered why it sounded so familiar; it was just like Batman.

By day a playboy billionaire, by night the dark knight ridding the city of crime.

“But what am I, the Dolphin Hero?”

“Black Bear Hunting?” Jerret and the others looked at each other in confusion, saying they had never heard of it.

These days, everyone had been discussing how to get Bi Fang, a public figure, into Taiji Town. It turned out that Bi Fang already had an idea, and it sounded good, but no one knew what Black Bear Hunting was.

Bi Fang understood that.

He had applied for visas in advance in most countries with protected areas around the world, except for this neighboring country of his own.

Why? What was there worth filming in that hidden corner of Japan?

Unless Mount Fuji erupted, and the system arranged a post-eruption survival task for him, that might be interesting.

Speaking of which, might it actually be about to erupt?

Bi Fang pulled out a sheet of white paper and sketched a simplified map of Japan, circling Honshu Island, specifically the area around Taiji Town.

“I’ve checked the news about wildlife attacks on humans in Japan over the last few years and found that most of them were caused by Japanese Black Bears, and most of the attacks occurred on Honshu Island.”

Bi Fang turned on his phone, pulled up the news, and placed it on the table for everyone to see.

In ’14, an adult female bear attacked a father and daughter on a trail; the father died on the spot, while the daughter was not in grave danger thanks to the timely rescue by villagers.

In ’15, there were two incidents. One involved a young couple playing in the forest; no one died, but there were injuries. The other occurred in a field where an elderly man planting in the spring was attacked by an adult male bear, luckily saved by villagers.

In ’17, there were three incidents. After that, attacks were incessant, with almost yearly occurrences leaving people in fear. Many forest trails have been abandoned, all due to fear of encountering such situations.

Last year, there was only one incident, but it resulted in three deaths, making it a particularly vicious and significant case!

At the same time, Bi Fang highlighted a few places in red.

Trails, fields, courtyards.
