216 Quick, Call Me Sister-in-Law
Zhang Li Xue could not stop laughing when she heard Fang Su Jin’s story.
She could not believe that her parents had misunderstood her brother again. This time, her father even headed to Capital City, trying to catch him red-handed. This all happened only because the staff had seen Zhang Yi Hai carry the drunk Fang Su Jin into the hotel.
Although Zhang Li Xue thought that her friend was too pitiful, the situation was indeed hilarious.
Fang Su Jin always think that Zhang Yi Hai was a scary person.
How would it be possible for them to be together?
“And then you had dinner with my parents?” Zhang Li Xue asked.
Fang Su Jin wanted to cry whenever she thought of the incident. “Zhang Li Xue, that was the most awkward meal I had with your parents.”
The Zhang couple had invited her to a meal and apologized for the misunderstanding.
Fang Su Jin wanted to decline the invitation as it was too embarrassing. However, they were her elders and she did not think that it would be appropriate to decline.
.....
In the end, the four of them had a meal together.
Fang Su Jin was too anxious to eat. Later, she had indigestion.
“Zhang Li Xue, don’t laugh.” Fang Su Jin pouted. “Let’s see how you will react if your parents know about your relationship with Doctor Bai.”
Zhang Li Xue knew that she would have her mother’s protection and was not too worried about it. In their family, the most powerful person should be her mother, right?
“Alright. I won’t laugh anymore.” Zhang Li Xue tried to hold back her laughter. “But Su Jin, I also think that it’s not too bad if you and my brother get together. Quick, call me sister-in-law.”
In Zhang Li Xue’s opinion, if her brother started to date someone, perhaps he would focus less on her and her brother would not know about her relationship with her Doctor Bai.
Fang Su Jin had an urge to strangle this friend. Seeing that Zhang Li Xue was having fun teasing her, Fang Su Jin decided to retaliate.
“That’s right, Li Xue, I seemed to recall something. Your brother had asked me a question when I was drunk,” Fang Su Jin said. “I might remember it wrongly, but I think your brother tried to pry whether you are seeing anyone.”
The smile on Zhang Li Xue’s face began to fade.
“I don’t know how did I answer his question,” Fang Su Jin continued. “I might have told him the truth and I might have not. I was too drunk to remember..”
“Fang Su Jin, don’t joke around.”
“Li Xue, why would I joke about this?” Fang Su Jin was satisfied when she heard the panic in Zhang Li Xue’s words. “I just thought that you should be prepared that your brother might go and find Doctor Bai. I also wanted to apologize if I had disclosed your secret.”
According to Zhang Yi Hai, she had spouted some nonsense to answer that question. However, Fang Su Jin was not about to tell her friend about it.
Who told her to laugh so much at her misery?
The two friends chatted for a while before they finally hung up.
Zhang Li Xue was staring at her phone with a dazed look in her eyes.
A warm pair of arms wrapped around her body, startling her. As the familiar scent wafted into her nose, Zhang Li Xue gradually relaxed.
A while ago, Bai Qi had stepped out of his office when a nurse called him for an emergency. Zhang Li Xue stayed in his office and chatted with Fang Su Jin for a long time. She did not realize that the man had returned while she was still thinking about her conversation with Fang Su Jin.
“What are you thinking about?”
His low voice and warm breath tickled her ears. Zhang Li Xue turned her head and the man’s soft and warm lips landed on her cheek.
Seeing the playful look in Bai Qi’s eyes made her blush.
Bai Qi seemed to like finding an opportunity to kiss her whenever he can. And Zhang Li Xue was not going to complain about this. She also enjoyed being coquettish and the feeling of being intimate with the person that she liked.
“Hmm?” Bai Qi bent forward and rested his forehead against Zhang Li Xue’s.
Their gazes met and they could see their reflection in each other’s eyes.
Zhang Li Xue decided to tell Bai Qi about what Fang Su Jin had told her earlier. When she finished, Bai Qi continued to stare at Zhang Li Xue silently.
Seeing that he was not speaking up, Zhang Li Xue was worried that she had scared Bai Qi.
“If your brother knows about us, then there was nothing we could do about it other than facing him.” Bai Qi stretched his hand and cupped her cheek. Then, he planted a kiss on the tip of her nose.
“Are you not worried?” Zhang Li Xue looked at the calm and composed man and wondered if he was not afraid.
“Of course, I’m worried,” Bai Qi admitted. “After all, I have heard how your little brother has always been protecting you. But I also think that we haven’t done anything wrong.”
Zhang Li Xue nodded. What Bai Qi said also made sense.
All they did was fall with each other. There was nothing wrong with it.
Even if Zhang Yi Hai would make trouble, she could always let her mother back her up. Zhang Li Xue did not believe that her brother would go against their mother’s words.
As the thought came to her mind, Zhang Li Xue began to feel more at ease.
The arms that were wrapped around Bai Qi’s waist tightened. Zhang Li Xue buried her head in his chest and listened to his heartbeat.
Seeing the way she acted made him laugh. Bai Qi held his little fairy in his arms and kissed the top of her head. His gaze shifted to the insulated box that Zhang Li Xue had along when she came to visit him at the hospital.
He lowered his head again and whispered, “I should continue my shift in a while. Li Xue, I’ll walk you over to the parking lot, alright?”
Zhang Li Xue raised her head. “Do you mind if I stayed around for a while longer? I promised that I won’t disturb you at work.”
Bai Qi raised a brow. “Don’t you need to go back?”
Usually, Zhang Li Xue would rush back home after accompanying him for dinner. The girl was worried that her father was going to find out that she had started dating and wanted to avoid trouble while she can.
“I can go back a little later today,” Zhang Li Xue said. “My parents are still in Capital City.”
Her heart jumped anxiously. Zhang Li Xue felt as if she was a teenage girl who was going to do something bad just because her parents were out of town.
