1119 Forging a New Weapon
"Well then. That discussion turned out better than I thought it would.'
As he bade farewell to Elder Alvin, who accompanied him up to the entrance of the Blacksmith Guild's mission hall, Valyr went through the discussion the two of them had earlier regarding the two proposals.
Or more specifically, the conditions he set in exchange for those two proposals.
'If I'm recalling all of the conditions I mentioned to Julian back then correctly, I wanted access to the guild's blueprints, the guild's hidden knowledge, a lot of Technology Points, and the ability to request materials from the guild for free,' inwardly muttered Valyr to himself.
'Surprisingly, Elder Alvin did not hesitate to agree to the first condition. He was fine with me having access to all of the guild's blueprints.'
'According to him, having access to all of the guild's blueprints would give me a higher chance of creating better blueprints in the future.' Valyr wryly smiled at the thought. 'Or if I didn't create better blueprints, he told me that I'd be able to innovate upon the existing blueprints.'
'As for the part about hidden knowledge, even I wasn't too sure about what I meant by that at first.' As he arrived at this thought, Valyr had already returned to his room.
Lying down on his bed as he let out a faint exhale, his mind continued to ponder over the discussion he had with the elder. 'Fortunately, Elder Alvin had a good interpretation of what I meant by that.'
"Though unlocking Advanced-level advancements through my Technology Tree is now considerably cheaper thanks to the titles and other things I did, getting it for free from the guild itself is still far better than using my hard-earned Technology Points on it."
Voicing his thoughts out loud, the young man let out a bit of laughter as he swiftly went over the last two conditions he'd set for his proposals.
In terms of his condition of getting a lot of Technology Points out of the entire thing, the two were eventually able to come to the agreement that he'd gain a large amount of Technology Points from the guild once everything was sorted out.
Aside from that, Elder Alvin also agreed to increase the amount of Technology Points he'd get from his monthly stipend by 50%, which meant Valyr was now able to obtain 50,000 more Technology Points from the guild every month.
As for his condition of being able to request for materials, the two surprisingly did not take long to come to an agreement on that.
With Valyr agreeing with Elder Alvin on the fact that it would be difficult for the guild to procure every item he wanted, the two eventually came to the agreement that he was only able to request materials and items up to a certain level of rarity from the guild without charge.
As for those that exceeded this rarity, he would have to pay a certain amount of merit points to the guild. However, the two agreed that the amount of merit points he'd have to pay for those items would be discounted to a certain extent.
"Now that I think about it, I've gained a lot more than I thought I would from that," murmured Valyr to himself, only to then think about the concessions he made regarding the proposals themselves.
With his conditions more or less satisfied, Valyr did not hesitate to be more accommodating, immediately giving Elder Alvin the copies of the blueprints he planned on giving them in the first place.
Then, after having the elder take a look at the blueprints, he then told him that he planned on teaching a small group of blacksmiths how to forge some of the more difficult parts that made up the arquebus blueprints he gave him.
"Of course, I made sure to tell him that he'd have to pick the most talented blacksmiths they had for that," said the young man to himself with a grin. "After all, if they tried forging the arquebuses from scratch, it'll probably take them at least a month to get a barely working version out."
"As for the armor, the only problem they'll have would probably be the procurement of the scales." Valyr continued to think out loud, only to chuckle at the thought soon after. "On second thought, I think that wouldn't really be a problem."
"It's the Blacksmith Guild I'm talking about, after all."
"With the Imperial Production Guild also helping them out, I really don't think that'd pose too much of a problem for them." As these words left the young man's mouth, a thought suddenly popped up in his mind, prompting him to sit on the side of his bed.
Then, gazing into his spatial bracelet, the young man could not help but smile as he looked at the materials Elder Alvin had given him after the meeting.
"I'm surprised Elder Alvin was more than willing to give me these materials after hearing that I planned on making a new magic staff," muttered the young man to himself, taking note that some of the materials were considerably hard to come by.
"I guess he decided to become more welcoming after seeing the capabilities of the blueprints firsthand." Valyr let out a bit of laughter at the thought, only to then head out of the room not long after.
After having dinner at the restaurant next to the inn he was staying in, the young man then began to ponder over which workshop he should rent in order to forge his new magic staff.
Though, considering the discussion he had with Elder Alvin earlier, it did not take long for him to obtain his answer.
Whoosh!
Pushing his agility to the limit, it did not take long for him to return to the Blacksmith Guild's mission hall, immediately obtaining the attention of most, if not all of the attendants at the counters.
Seeing one of the attendants come up to him with respect on their faces, Valyr went ahead and told them that he planned on forging something, prompting the attendant that came up to him to lead him towards one of the vacant workshops.
Arriving at the vacant workshop, some of Valyr's suspicions regarding the workshop's higher quality were more or less confirmed the moment he stepped foot.
Though, just as he asked the attendant how much he'd have to pay to rent the workshop for some time, the attendant immediately told him in return that Elder Alvin had already paid for his every use of the guild's workshops from today onwards.
Slightly left at a loss for words after hearing that, the young man let out a hearty chuckle after that as he asked the attendant to have him relay his gratitude to Elder Alvin.
Then, once he was left on his own within the workshop, Valyr went ahead and familiarized himself with the tools he'll be working with before proceeding to take out all of the materials Elder Alvin had given him earlier.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Gazing at the small pile of materials he brought out for a bit, the young man pondered over the type of magic staff he was gonna forge one last time before proceeding to light the furnace in front of him.
Swoosh!
Then, taking out the Hammer of Beginnings from his spatial bracelet, Valyr took in a deep breath as he gradually entered a tranquil state. "Alright. Finally got an opportunity to forge a new weapon for myself again."
"Before doing all of that, though… I should unlock the necessary advancements first."
