MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 1290: Fortifying Foundations (1)"…Alright, then."
After making sure that he wouldn’t be disturbed while in the middle of practicing the Records, Valyr faintly nodded in satisfaction as he made his way towards the bed.
Sitting in the middle of it cross-legged, he then let out a calming breath as he closed his eyes, gradually attuning both his body and mind towards his surroundings as much as possible.
’Should I go and practice the Records?’ Letting out a long exhale as he fell into a tranquil state, a question slowly popped up in Valyr’s mind as he wondered what he should do first.
Or should I first purify my mana as much as possible?’
Pondering over the two choices he’d given himself thanks to his train of thought, the young man eventually decided to forgo the first choice for the meantime, thinking that it would be best for him to purify his mana first either way.
After all, if he were to make use of the Records with higher quality mana, then there was a high chance that he did not need to reach its 3rd stage to evolve his species by an intermediate stage.
Then again, with how the elixirs he’d consumed so far had already improved his current species by a fair amount, he was certain he wouldn’t even need to reach the 3rd stage to do it either way.
However, aside from that, there was another reason as to why Valyr opted to focus on purifying his mana first.
That reason… was his uncertainty towards the Records working on his player self. With everything he’d experienced both in his past and current life, there was a nagging feeling at the back of his mind that his hypothesis was possibly true. After all, there was nothing like the Records in his past life, nor was it available for players to obtain.
If anything, it was only due to various circumstances and coincidences was he able to obtain the Records from Vaughn.
Of course, that was only possible because he decided to enter an inheritance that was only open before Greater Beyond had been released to the public.
If not for any of that, he would have been oblivious to the existence of the Records, much less the knowledge that it was possible to ascend one’s species with the help of a single skill.
Then again, even though most of his thoughts came to the conclusion that trying to practice the Records as a player was a fruitless endeavor, there was still a small part of himself that felt like maybe… just maybe…
The Records would work on him.
After all, the Records was a skill that only popped up in the system if one obtained the necessary knowledge to practice it.
In a way, it was similar to the Inner and Outer Realm Scriptures that needed one to collect its volumes before one would be able to practice it.
However, unlike those scriptures, Valyr was in no way hampered from practicing the Records while still being at Level 10.
Vaughn had given him knowledge of all of its stages, after all.
’Well, whether or not it would work, I’ll be able to find out once I finish purifying my mana.’
With that thought in mind, Valyr swiftly got to work, focusing his senses inward as he went through the motions of removing all of the impurities in his mana.
Considering the fact that this was his second time purifying mana to a higher stage, it was no surprise that the entire process of purifying the energy was smooth-sailing for the young man.
Although there were a few hiccups along the way due to his stats being far lower than when he purified mana the first time, Valyr was still able to succeed in purifying his mana in the end, pushing it directly into the Pure stage.
Ding!
[You have removed all of the impurities in your mana.]
[All mana you shall control from now on is bereft of any impurities whatsoever, improving its efficacy and power.]
[Due to this action, you have obtained the passive skill ’Arcane Mark’.]
[The grade of your Arcane Mark has been improved to Pure.]
"Pure stage, done." Letting out a bit of turbid air as he opened his eyes, a slight grin appeared on Valyr’s face as he took a look at the notifications he received.
Seeing that he’d gained the same skill from the system after purifying his mana, he then went ahead and took a look at the system’s timer, getting the feeling that he spent more time to get his mana to the Pure stage this time around.
"Oh wow." Of course, it did not take long for him to obtain his answer, with the system confirming his feelings as correct. "It took me 6 hours to get to the Pure stage."
"Back then, it took me like… 30 minutes, if I remember correctly?"
Arriving at that thought, a bitter smile briefly adorned Valyr’s face before closing his eyes once more.
"Who knew having a bloodline would make such a massive difference?"
Taking some time to remove all of the discordant thoughts in his mind, the young man then proceeded to push his mana to the stage of 1st Cleansing, giving it 120% of his all to compensate for his stats being lower than usual.
Thankfully, the experience he accumulated from doing it the first time massively helped during the process, allowing him to salvage most of the progress he lost from his mistakes before eventually forming a star of mana within his inner psyche.
Ding!
Hearing the system confirm that he’d succeeded in bringing his mana to the stage of 1st Cleansing, a grin adorned Valyr’s face once more as he took a brief look at the changes to [Arcane Mark], seeing that it now boosted both his HP and MP by 5%.
Wondering whether or not to push his mana to the stage of 2nd Cleansing after that, the young man decided to base his next action on how much time it took him to reach 1st Cleansing.
"…Huh."
With that, he brought up the system’s timer in front of him, only to be left completely speechless after seeing that an entire 3 days had passed since he decided to purify his mana to 1st Cleansing.
Recalling how it took a couple of weeks back then to push his mana to the stage of 2nd Cleansing, the young man did not hesitate to shelf the thought for the meantime, understanding that he might take months in his current state if he wanted to do it. Explore stories on empire
"Then again, I think this is more than enough to get a better effect out of it," said Valyr as a way of consoling himself, taking a bit of time to go over the knowledge Vaughn imprinted in his mind on the Records.
"…Alright." Feeling like he’d gone through everything he’d need for his current goal, the young man closed his eyes once more, only to start moving his energy based on an abstruse pattern in his mind.
"Let’s begin."
