MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1319: Checking the Arcane (1)

Whoosh!

"I'm surprised we were able to clear that."

As they walked away from the entrance that led to the Cave of Beginnings, Valyr and the others had wide smiles on their faces as they talked about the run they just did.

"It's not really that surprising if you think about it," said Valyr in response to Thomas' words. "Keep in mind that your stats are already above what's normal for someone without a class."

"But that doesn't change the fact that we cleared it at Hard difficulty." Thomas grinned, with Meria and Lucques also grinning at the feat they've achieved.

"Well, you're not wrong." Deciding not to bicker with them over the topic any further, Valyr merely let out a faint chuckle as he thought back to all of the runs they did in the Cave of Beginnings thus far.

Wanting to get a proper idea of how strong they were for their current level, the four of them agreed to run the Cave of Beginnings a few times.

However, considering that they wouldn't be able to make the most of their improved strengths if they were to run the dungeon at Easy, Valyr made the executive decision to have their first attempt be done in Medium difficulty.

After all, such a difficulty would still pose a challenge to them even with their higher stats, right?

Surprisingly, not that much.

Although the trio made a number of mistakes here and there as they ran the dungeon, most of the mistakes was mostly due to the fact that they lacked enough experience with the dungeon itself.

Other than that, the three of them showed great competence with the skills they had in their arsenal.

Because of that, it was no surprise that the number of mistakes the three made during their second attempt significantly decreased, with the four of them moving through the dungeon at a speed that matched groups that have played the same difficulty dozens of times.

By the time the four of them ran their 10th attempt of the dungeon's Medium difficulty, all of them moved and worked as if they knew every nook and cranny in the dungeon, which allowed them to clear the dungeon fast enough to unlock the dungeon's super-boss.

Unsurprisingly, the three barely held on whilst fighting against the super-boss, with Valyr doing most of the heavy lifting in whittling the super-boss' health down to 0.

After all, even though the three boasted stats that were beyond their current class rank, their strength only allowed them to match players that were around the middle of Rank 1 at first.

Considering the fact that the Easy difficulty super-boss already had stats stronger than a newly ascended Rank 1 player, a super-boss that had stats of an elite player at the peak of Rank 1 would pose a challenge even to the highly experienced Level 10 players.

However, rather than be discouraged by the massive gap in strength that existed between them and the super-boss, the three instead became more motivated than before to reach a similar level of strength.

With that, it was no surprise that the young man was soon bombarded by the three with questions on how he got as strong as he currently was, to which Valyr decided to share some of the quests he'd been keeping in his memories for the three.

Knowing that completing even one of those quests would allow the three's strength to greatly increase, the young man decided to have the four of them try out the dungeon's Hard difficulty for their last attempt as a way to ground their expectations.

Yet, with the fire the super-boss and Valyr's showcase of strength had lit within them, the three of them showed a performance that went beyond above their current class ranks.

If anything, Valyr's ability to dish out tons of damage was merely thought by the three as a last-ditch safety measure.

"Now that we're done with the dungeons for now, I guess you're gonna do the quests, then?" Making their way back to the village at a moderate pace, Valyr went ahead and asked this question to the three.

"That's what I'm gonna do," replied Thomas with a nod. "I don't know about Meria and Lucques, though."

"We're also gonna do the same thing," said Lucques in response, with Meria nodding in agreement. "Those dungeon runs we did just made us realize that we're not really that strong yet."

"Even more so when we take Valyr into consideration," said Thomas soon after, with the two nodding in agreement. "To be honest, I don't even know how you could even get to that level of strength you have."

"Keep in mind that I've already gotten a class." Valyr let out a bit of laughter. "However, that doesn't mean that getting a class is the only answer to becoming stronger."

"If possible, delay your ascensions for as long as possible," said the young man as he gave the three some advice. "Of course, I'm not asking you to not ascend. I'm just asking you to max out everything you can first before ascending."

"If you do that, then you'll be able to choose even stronger classes compared to the others."

"We'll keep that in mind," said Thomas as he nodded.

With the three committing the young man's advice to memory after that, the four eventually returned to the village, selling off all of the unimportant drops they got from the multiple dungeon runs they did at the Cave of Beginnings.

After sharing the profits they made from the drops evenly, Thomas and the other two decided to head their separate ways from Valyr after that, prompting the latter to wish them the best of luck as he watched their silhouettes gradually disappear from his vision.

'…Alright.' Letting out a faint sigh as the trio left the village, the young man went ahead and headed back to the room he rented for the meantime as he decided to plan out his next steps while the three were doing their own thing.

'I guess the first thing I should do while they're doing the quests is to officially establish the guild,' thought Valyr to himself, which caused him to briefly recall the conversation he had with Julian before heading back to the village.

Although most of the conversation with the man revolved around the forging quotas that were imposed on the Blacksmith Guild for the most part, the young man was able to ask the man about the requirements necessary to establish a guild as an NPC.

'I'll establish the guild on my other identity once I can use [Soul Shift] for over a day again,' said Valyr to himself after that as he made a mental note of the matter.

Pushing thoughts related to his other identity aside for the meantime, his thoughts soon shifted back to matters that his player self needed to tackle.

"I've already met the first requirement needed to establish a guild, which is to obtain a class," muttered the young man to himself as he laid down on the bed.

"Aside from that, I still need to register myself to the guild aligned with my class, as well as find a place that would serve as the guild's base of operations."

"Hmm…" Allowing the gears in his mind to freely turn as he thought about which of the two he should tackle first, the young man eventually chose the first requirement.

"The Mage Guild…" muttered Valyr to himself as he made the decision in his mind. "If my memory serves me correctly, then the nearest branch of the Mage Guild from this village would be Astella City."

"Speaking of Astella City, I wonder how they're doing?" As these words left his mouth, a couple of individuals he hadn't interacted in a long while popped up in his mind.

Faintly reminiscing over the help those people gave him back when he was at Clossbay City, the young man quickly made up his mind to head to Astella City.

"However, before that, I should familiarize myself with the new skills I've gotten from my new class first."

Whoosh!

Standing up from the bed, Valyr went ahead and asked the system to list down all of the skills his new class gave him.

Ding!

"So… two active skills and three passive skills," murmured Valyr as he faintly nodded, slightly feeling that the number of skills he got paled in comparison to the number of skills he got when he first became a True Prodigious Blacksmith.

"But then again, I've yet to awaken the Technology Tree," said the young man as he thought about it for a bit more. "Perhaps unlocking some advancements through the tree would give me more skills down the road?"

Confident that his current class worked in that manner, Valyr went ahead and looked through his new skills for a bit more before deciding to choose the skill that seemed like the core of the class.

"System, identify [Arcane Codex]."
