"Yang Feng, there's someone outside." She tried to get up, but his arms caged around her again, but not so tight to the point of where it would put pressure on her stomach.
"I don't care." He buried his head into her neck, breathing in her intoxicating and calming scent that smelled like a combination of Jasmine and Lavender. He couldn't get enough of her, especially after two long and torturous weeks of not being able to properly touch and hold her like this. Last night was simply too short and he felt as if he didn't have enough time with her…
"Mr. Yang and Ms. Zhao, the bandages need to be changed as soon as possible." The nurse spoke up from behind the door, despite the fact the three very intimidating bodyguards glowering down at her.
"It wasn't changed last night, so it might become infected if it's not changed right now." She continued even though her voice shook and trembled, just like her hands that were holding the tray.
Zhao Lifei sharply turned towards the spoiled puppy hugging her, "It's a nurse. Release me."
"No." He solemnly told her, nudging his head into the side of her slender, swan neck.
"Stop acting like a clingy child. What if my wounds become infected? Will you take responsibility when it does?!" She frowned.
"It was changed four hours ago, must it need to be changed again?" He exasperated. He didn't want her to go anywhere.
"So you do admit to changing it for me!" She scowled, taking him by complete surprise when she suddenly dug her fingers into his skin, causing his arms to loosen. She seized the chance and quickly climbed out of his lap.
Yang Feng quickly stood up to grab her again. "I needed to or else it might cause you discomfort."
"I didn't allow you to touch me—"
"Neither did I let you touch me in your sleep, but you still did so."
"For the last time, I didn't!"
"You also drooled on me." He pointed to the slightly wet mark on his messy white button-up.
She blushed when she saw that his white button-up does have a slightly wet mark on his left chest. "I-I-" Her mouth opened and closed but she can't think of anything else to say.
"You did it when you groped my chest." He couldn't help but laugh at her expression. She was simply too adorable.
"I didn't do anything aside from changing your bandages. The lights were turned off, so I didn't see anything as well." He walked to her, tucking strands of hair behind her ears to fully see her face.
"If I wanted to do something to you, I would've done it a long time ago." He added on, gesturing to the nights where she was asleep around him.
Zhao Lifei sighed. He was right. She was drunk the last time and he could've easily done something to her and she wouldn't be able to remember it. She lifted her head to look at him. He looked so serious, she knew he was sincere with his words.
"Don't do it again." She mumbled, even though a part of her was screaming for his touch.
He walked to her, cupping her cheeks, enjoying her delicate skin against his rough hands. "Do you really mean that?"
She looked away from him, biting down on her tongue before she said something irrational. Her stupid heart was begging her to open her mouth and say no.
"Let the nurse in." She mumbled, not wanting to answer his question. She shivered when she felt his chest rumble when he laughed at her.
"Alright." He mused, tilting his head to the door. "Come in."
The nurse outside sighed in relief upon hearing the two words. She threw a smug expression towards the bodyguards who reluctantly opened the door for her.
She shivered in fear when his expression became rigid and stony upon seeing her. His eyes, glaringly dark and filled with malice, scared her.
"Mr. Yang, Miss Zhao, I'm here to change the bandages." She stammered. It was unnerving to be in the same room as them, in particular, the tycoon who swept this country by storm. So this was what they meant when they said the top 1%'s aura was significantly different...it was suffocatingly alarming.
Yang Feng scowled upon seeing the nurse.
Sensing his discontent and irritation, Zhao Lifei gave his hand a squeeze, using her body to hide the gesture.
His chest was filled with warmth at her comforting action. The iciness of his eyes thawed out, replaced with a gentleness that was only for her.
Without warning, he kissed her on the forehead. "Be good, I will come back later on today to see you."
Not wanting to sound needy and clingy, she reluctantly nodded at his words. "Okay." She quietly mumbled, looking down with a tiny pout on her lips.
Seeing her upset expression, his gaze softened, Guilt filled him, causing tiny prickles of pain to spread on his chest.
He pulled her into a loving embrace, turning her around to hug her properly. One arm was securely around her waist, while the other was at the back of her head, pressing her cheek to his chest. "There are pressing matters that I have to handle, but I'll be back before you know it." He gave her head a quick kiss.
"Be good and stay put here. Okay?" He was worried she might attempt to leave the hospital as she did in the past. He couldn't allow that to happen again, especially when she really needed to stay in this room and recuperate.
"Okay." She softly said, even though she was intending to go against these words very soon.
When she heard an awkward cough from the nurse, she decided it was really time for him to leave. She unwillingly stepped out of his arms. "Now, go to work." She pushed him towards the door, but he frowned at her.
"What is it?" She tilted her head, confused at his sudden unhappiness.
"Where's my goodbye kiss?" He asked her.
"Friends don't give each other goodbye kisses." She stubbornly said, not liking his question. He didn't even properly ask her out yet! And here he was, shamelessly asking for kisses. But then again, she was also at fault for allowing him to kiss her a few moments ago…
Yang Feng scowled at her words, reaching his hand to roughly grab her. She narrowly dodged his hands.
"Go to work." She gave him a final shove towards the door, ignoring his aggravated expression.
"We'll talk about this later." He firmly said, storming out the door, loudly slamming the door behind him in frustration. He was beyond angered to know she continued to think of him as a friend!
She sighed at his temperament. She partly blamed herself for using the wrong words, but she wanted to hint at him that he hadn't even asked her out yet.
Seeing the intimidating man was gone, the nurse finally spoke up. "Miss Zhao, may we begin?"
Zhao Lifei nodded her head. "Let's get started on my bandages." She muttered to which the nurse took a step forward and began to do so.
