Yang Enterprise, Top Floor
"Where is the report that the boss wanted this morning?"
"It’s being photocopied right now and will take two more minutes-"
"We can’t afford those two minutes. He wants it now!"
"It’s not like I can rush the machine!"
"Well, do something about it!"
The employees on the top floor scrambled to get all of their paperwork done as soon as possible. The usually quiet and organized office was in complete chaos. Since yesterday, their boss had become more demanding and unpredictable. Everyone was kept on their toes at the idea that they would suddenly get fired.
"Why is the coffee machine not working today out of all days. The boss wants his coffee and he wants it now!" A secretary cried out in panic, unable to work with the stress and pressure on her shoulders. The separate room for Yang Feng’s personal team was doubly chaotic with people fighting over who gets to use the copy machine first, and people walking back and forth to compile files from their report.
"Where is the draft of the project that he wanted by this afternoon?"
"Draft due by this afternoon? But it was supposed to be due tomorrow!" A man wailed back, grabbing his hair in frustration before going back to hurriedly typing on his computer.
"I know, but the deadline was moved up for some reason."
"Boss is in an even worse mood today than yesterday, we can’t afford to piss him off further!" Another voice spoke out, pushing the man aside to see which part he was working on.
"I’ll complete the second half, just hurry up and work on the first one."
"Okay, what about the presentation slides? Is that finished yet?" A different voice piped up, hurriedly grabbing the copies that were finally done.
"Presentation slides? Wasn’t that also due tomorrow?!" Someone yelled out, nearly slamming their head onto the table.
"Well it WAS due tomorrow but everything is being rushed to be delivered today!" A different voice replied, sharing the same frustration. Ever since their boss came in bright and early this morning, he had been working his people to the ground. They can usually handle their boss’s demanding ways, but something has pissed him off so badly that his temper was through the roof. Some of the members of his team had even cried for the first time.
They didn’t know what happened to infuriate their boss, but whatever it was, they hoped it would pass soon. They were all very experienced people who usually could work well under pressure, but when the boss seemed ready to fire anyone who looked at him the wrong way, the anxiety was finally getting to them.
They had to stay late the previous day and had to go to work two hours earlier today. The lack of sleep and poor morale was slowly driving them up the walls.
Just then, the sound of high heels clicking on the floor could be heard. Following it was the signature scent that brought cries of relief from the team. The sound of heels that they usually found obnoxious now sounded like angels singing!
"Su Meixiu has finally arrived!" The people nearly cheered when they saw the private female secretary of their boss. She was always good at curbing his frustration, the people almost cried in joy thinking that their savior has finally arrived.
Su Meixiu took off her glamorous sunglasses, revealing her beautiful feline eyes that were always effective in luring men in. With her hourglass figure and very seductive pair of lips, one would understand why she was so good at her job.
She was good at dealing with CEOs and company representatives of the opposite gender and always had a way to make them comply. Perhaps it was because her refreshing and approachable beauty that was the complete opposite of the CEO’s right hand, the ’Ice King’, or it was because she double majored in Psychology and Business, but she was usually really good at reading people and adhering to their emotions.
"What’s wrong? Why is the office in such a mess early in the morning?" Her pleasant voice was as light as the cloud on a warm summer day but sweet like honey. She scanned the anxious employees in front of her. It had been a while since she had seen them so stressed like this.
"It’s the boss! He has been infuriated since yesterday! Today we were called in two hours earlier than usual. How come you didn’t arrive at the same time as us?" Someone asked, noticing she arrived at the usual start of their working hours.
Su Meixiu blinked. "Two hours earlier? I didn’t get that message." She said, scrolling down her phone and sure enough, there wasn’t one sent to her.
"Haha, it must be because the boss favors you, Meixiu, so he didn’t call you in early." A worker warmly chuckled, giving her a pat on the back. They weren’t surprised to see she was favored. With a woman so beautiful, who wouldn’t like her? Not only was Su Meixiu beautiful beyond words but her heart was also made of solid gold. She was kind and patient with all of her colleagues, making her the ideal woman. On top of that, everyone was sure she never got scolded by their boss before.
"Don’t joke like that, Xiao Wen. You know that’s not true. They probably just forgot to send me the message." Su Meixiu laughed, waving her hand to disagree.
"You don’t have to be so humble, Meixiu-"
"The draft is done! Can anyone bring it to him?" A voice spoke up. Suddenly, the entire office quieted down. Neither of them wanted to directly face the wrath of their boss, so none of them dared to personally go inside his office.
Just then, every pair of eyes shuffled to Su Meixiu. She sighed upon seeing their pleading eyes before slowly nodding her head. "Alright alright, I’ll give it to him. Is there anything else you want me to bring in?" She asked, grabbing the draft packet.
Immediately, voices spoke up and everyone rushed to her with reports, his coffee, and other papers that needed to be on his desk. Soon, her hands were filled with things to turn in.
"You guys are abusing my generosity." She chuckled while juggling the items.
"Thank you future Madam Yang!" They gleefully laughed, happy that the hardest part was handed to someone else. This was one of the reasons why they absolutely adored Su Meixiu. They wouldn’t be surprised if their big boss fell in love with her. Who wouldn’t?! Beauty, brains, and background, she had it all!
"Oh come on, guys. Stop joking around!" She rolled her eyes, shaking her head at their comments. While she halfheartedly tried to shrug off their compliments, a smile bloomed on her face.
"But it’s true, Meixiu!" They egged her on as she walked towards CEO Yang’s office that was a few meters away from the chaotic mess.
The small hallway leading there was surrounded by glass windows that took up the entire wall. Everyone walking through here will have a perfect view of the buildings that Yang Feng owned or had major shares in. A fond smile fell on her face when she remembered what they had said about her being the "Future Madam Yang". She couldn’t help but feel it has a nice ring to it.
