My Celestial Ascension

Chapter 758 - 758: The Beginning Of The War

Yuan and his wives returned to the palace after completely destroying the Holy Church, and Aisha was already waiting for their return in their room.

They entered through the balcony, and upon stepping inside, they were surprised to find Aisha sitting on the bed, clearly having waited for them.

“You guys are finally back!” Aisha exclaimed, immediately jumping off the bed the moment she sensed Yuan and his wives’ presence in the room. Her eyes sparkled with excitement and relief.

“I was so worried about your safety… thank goodness nothing happened to you all.”

She sighed in deep relief after seeing that Yuan and the others were unharmed. Aside from the bloodstains on their clothes—clear evidence of battle—none of them bore a single injury.

However, just by seeing the blood on their clothes, Mireya could already imagine what must have transpired inside the Holy Church. And from the massive explosion and the shockwave earlier, she was confident that Yuan and his wives had completely destroyed it—erasing the Holy Church from existence.

“Were you waiting for us, Aunt Aisha?” Lily asked with a gentle smile as she began removing her bloodstained clothes.

“That’s right,” Aisha nodded, a slight blush forming on her face. “I tried to sleep, but I couldn’t fall asleep, so I decided to wait here for your return.”

Anna smiled warmly and said, “How about you sleep with us tonight? That sounds fun, doesn’t it?”

As soon as Anna suggested that, Aisha’s face turned red like a tomato. She quickly turned around and giggled softly, flustered beyond words.

‘Big Sister Anna! What are you saying?! This is so embarrassing!!’ Aisha screamed inside her mind, her cheeks completely flushed.

Shortly after, everyone took turns bathing in the bathroom attached to the room. Once they had freshened up, they all got into bed and retired for the night, peacefully and without a care.

Meanwhile, in a distant realm, a woman of breathtaking beauty suddenly opened her eyes. Shock was written all over her face, and cold sweat trickled down her temples.

“What just happened? Why can’t I feel my connection with the statue anymore?” she whispered in disbelief.

A strange, unsettling thought crossed her mind, and irritation flickered in her eyes. ‘Could it be that someone attacked the Holy Church? Or… did someone destroy the statue and sever my link with it?’

But both possibilities seemed absurd. The Holy Church was under extremely tight security, and the Holy Knights stationed there were among the most powerful warriors in existence.

“Even if a dragon attacked the Holy Church, the Holy Knights would be able to defeat it with ease. There’s no way anyone could have simply attacked and destroyed the Holy Church…”

She became deeply worried. Without the statue, she could no longer contact the Holy Church or even materialize in spirit form to observe the situation herself. This was a serious problem—one she needed to resolve as quickly as possible.

Furthermore, the Holy Church was currently at war with the Lionheart Empire. Even though she had already dispatched two of her subordinates to aid the Holy Church in this conflict, an uneasy feeling lingered within her heart.

“I will send someone to check the situation at the Holy Church and report to me. I must know what happened to my Church—at all costs,” the beautiful woman muttered, a serious expression clouding her face as she once again tried to sense the connection with her statue.

But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t locate it. It was as if the statue had never existed. It simply didn’t make sense.

Determined, she used voice transmission magic to summon one of her subordinates. Her decision was clear—she had to find out the truth. If not, she wouldn’t be able to sleep peacefully.

Moments later, a beautiful angel entered the chamber and bowed her head respectfully.

“Goddess, please give me your order,” the angel said, her voice calm and filled with reverence.

“Caelina, I want you to descend into the mortal world and investigate what happened to my Church,” the Goddess said with a grave look, her divine voice echoing across the chamber. “Report everything to me immediately.”

“As you wish, Goddess. I’ll do my best to satisfy you,” the angel named Caelina responded, bowing once again before swiftly leaving the chamber.

“I hope everything has gone according to my plan…” the Goddess murmured in a low voice once the angel had departed.

As the morning sun climbed into the sky, the army of the Holy Church began advancing toward the border. Today marked the official beginning of the war between the Holy Church and the Lionheart Empire.

This day would be etched in history books for future generations—a bloody war destined to strike fear into the hearts of people for years to come.

Tens of thousands of soldiers marched toward the Lionheart Empire, their overwhelming numbers and the sheer pressure they exuded causing the very air to tremble.

The grand chariot of the Pope came to a slow halt upon reaching the border. The massive bridge that once connected the two empires had been destroyed, rendering the chariot and the soldiers unable to cross the vast river.

“Damn those cowardly bastards! How dare they destroy the bridge!” the Pope cursed from inside the grand chariot, reclining on the lavish sofa with an infuriated expression.

A few seconds later, the Pope appeared above the grand chariot, his expression grim. He was gritting his teeth and clenching his fists tightly as he gripped his staff, which was designed in the shape of a cross.

“Mages, use your magic and construct a massive bridge for us! We cannot afford any more delays!”

As soon as the Pope gave the order, a large group of mages stepped forward and began casting spells, pointing their staffs toward the wide river.

A tremendous amount of mana surged around them, distorting the air with its pressure. The ground trembled slightly under the sheer magical force.

Suddenly, a radiant blue light enveloped the mages, and a chilling aura spread across the area. Ice began to form rapidly, taking the shape of an enormous bridge stretching across the river.

Within seconds, a colossal ice bridge had materialized—so wide that thousands of soldiers could march across it simultaneously.

Once the bridge was complete, the Holy Church’s army resumed their march, crossing without any difficulty.

‘Does that foolish Emperor think destroying the bridge would stop us? What a naïve thought. I’ll personally kill that fool with my own two hands… just you wait!’ the Pope thought, reclining once more on his lavish sofa with a cold grin on his face.

Meanwhile, hidden in the tall grass, scouts from the Lionheart Empire watched the entire event unfold. They used camouflage magic to conceal their presence and avoid detection.

Wasting no time, they returned to the camp to deliver their urgent report.

“Your Majesty, we are here to inform you—the Holy Church has successfully crossed the river. They constructed a massive ice bridge using the magic of their mages!”

The scouts spoke the moment they reached the camp, their voices urgent, understanding the weight of the information.

“I see… I thought destroying the bridge would slow them down. But it seems I underestimated their capabilities,” Emperor Philip murmured, his tone quiet yet tense.

He had believed the strategy would work, but he had completely overlooked the possibility of the mages creating a new bridge. It was a costly oversight. He had underestimated the resourcefulness of the Holy Church.

“Tell the soldiers to prepare for war! We could be facing the enemy at any moment! There’s no time to waste!” Emperor Philip dismissed the scouts without hesitation and began putting on his armor.

‘I made a grave mistake underestimating the Holy Church. From now on, I have to stay one step ahead. I won’t let them breach our defenses so easily,’ Emperor Philip thought as he donned his helmet and grasped his magical sword, stepping out of the tent to prepare for the battle ahead.

“Father! The Holy Church’s army is in sight! They’ll reach the barricades we’ve prepared in just a few moments!” Crown Prince Daniel reported urgently as he arrived before Emperor Philip, riding a horse. His entire body was clad in thick, polished armor.

“I know. Get ready. Take command of the mages and tell them to prepare their wide-range magic attacks!” Emperor Philip ordered firmly as he climbed onto his own horse, fully prepared for the battle ahead.

“As you command, Father!” Daniel responded with a sharp nod before galloping away without delay.

Upon arriving at the edge of the forest, where the battlefield was clearly visible, Daniel dismounted from his horse and approached the formation of mages. They were positioned behind the frontline soldiers, who served as the defensive wall.

Each frontline soldier was equipped with powerful magic-infused shields capable of withstanding all but the most destructive attacks—unless they came from an exceptionally powerful Magic Knight.

“Mages, prepare for battle! We don’t have much time before the Holy Church’s army tries to break through the barricades!” Daniel commanded, his voice calm yet laced with subtle nervousness—it was, after all, his first time on a real battlefield.

“Yes, Your Highness!” the mages responded in unison.

Immediately, they began channeling their mana, preparing long-range, wide-area destruction spells designed to wipe out large swaths of the enemy forces in one strike.

Behind them, the Magic Knights raised their massive shields and activated barrier spells, forming a dome of protection around the mages. It was a coordinated formation—no enemy arrows or spells would easily pierce their defense.

Suddenly, from the opposite side of the battlefield, a thunderous voice echoed across the land.

“DESTROY THOSE BARRICADES AND ANNIHILATE OUR ENEMIES!!”

It was followed by the overwhelming roar of tens of thousands of enemy soldiers, surging with bloodlust and determination, shaking the very ground and air with their war cries.

“Mages, LAUNCH YOUR ATTACKS!!” Daniel shouted, raising his sword high and pointing it toward the enemy line. His eyes burned with determination despite the tremor in his heart.

“MAGIC ATTACK INCOMING! PREPARE YOURSELVES!!”

“RAISE THE SHIELDS AND BLOCK THEIR STRIKES!!”

Whoosh! Whoosh!

BOOOOOOMMMMM!!!

Massive explosions erupted across the battlefield as the Lionheart Empire’s magic spells rained down on the Holy Church’s army. The force of the blasts tore through the front lines—many enemy soldiers attempting to scale the barricades were blown to pieces in an instant.

Caught off guard and unable to raise their shields in time, the Holy Church’s front lines suffered devastating casualties. Panic and chaos rippled through their formation.

Yet, amidst the destruction, a few soldiers managed to make it over the barricades, driven by desperation or sheer willpower.

However, what awaited them on the other side made them realize they had made a terrible mistake.
