Chapter 162 Never dawdle on a diddle
After concluding the interview, upon seeing Paul’s face, Ben frowned...because he wanted to slap it more...
Paul had seen the entire performance, and now...his mouth hung open in shock! His cheeks even felt a little hot, as if there was some friction there...the kind...from a hand?
...
He’d made the interview unusually difficult, yet Ben still showed a breathtaking performance! So the fact was, Paul was wrong! He misjudged Ben and he did it in front of everyone here! When he realized that, his face became a bit ugly...
Yet soon, he sighed... ’I’ll admit he has some ability. My daughter hasn’t spoken so candidly to me in a decade. Yet, he can get her to open up so quickly? Well...I should ask him for advice on how I could do that.’
Being so big-hearted, Ben wouldn’t mind either. He’d happily give the father a hand with "raising her."
...
Everyone else showed unusual expressions as well. For one, the glacial beauty Laura was smiling at Ben. Realizing how uncharacteristic she was acting, it made her wonder about him, and how he managed to get her to act this way...
As for Jacob, his eyes were shining! ’Benjamin has a talent in connecting with people! If he can interview like that, he’s definitely a worthwhile seedling!’
In the eyes of the elderly, everyone was a plant...
Bob’s expression was the most excited! He stared at Ben like he’d found a hidden treasure! ’He opened up the beauty like a can of sardines. I need to ask for dating tips!’
...
A few minutes later, Ben was waiting outside the office as the three managers sat inside, discussing him. In most cases, they would interview all the candidates then let them know about their decisions later in the week. However, Jacob insisted they hire Ben on the spot!
Paul still didn’t like it but he was already on the backfoot after doubting Ben. Even though he was the manager with the most authority in the room, Jacob had been at the company much longer and knew everyone, so Paul didn’t want to offend him over an intern. Thus, it wasn’t difficult for Jacob’s proposition to soon pass!
Not long after, Laura asked Ben to return inside, and he received the news.
"Congratulations!" Grinning, Jacob shook Ben’s hand with enthusiasm. Although it was only an internship, the old man became excited seeing the possibilities of youth. That was a common fetish for the elderly...
Bob also smiled. After all, Ben’s recommendation came through his channels.
As far as Paul, he shook Ben’s hand but still showed a slight grimace. ’Even if he’s talented, I still have my doubts about his effectiveness on the job. At his age, he’ll certainly make many errors. We’ll see when the time comes.’
Laura watched all this from the side with narrow eyes. Although Ben intrigued her, once they confirmed he got the job, some earlier doubts came to mind. Unlike her father, she’d been paying some attention during the early parts of the interview. She wasn’t a confused elder or trying to comfort Ben, so some of those terms on his resume sounded very...off... ’He’s no survival expert...’
She considered searching google later for the qualifications to become a gullet inspector...
And where to buy throat yogurt...
Laura didn’t know what the deal was with that resume, but it was true his performance was exceptional. Furthermore, when she thought about ratting him out...she remembered those feelings he made her experience...
Sighing, she decided to stay out of the matter. Choosing the candidate wasn’t her place anyway, but she would keep an eye on Ben. When she thought about that, her icy face cracked with a tiny smile...

Ben was back home, after having agreed to start work in a couple of days. It wasn’t a major position so there wouldn’t be any difficulties with the paperwork. It was also part-time with flexible hours, so he was able to schedule them around his classes without an issue.
Lying down on his bed, Ben smiled as he relished in the accomplishment. Although the wage wasn’t high, it was a top-tier company after all, so it was enough for him to start paying off his debt and have some money for spending. With that, he’d solved his biggest problem!
In addition, there was more good news!
[Social Status: (+1)4(3+1) - Sergeant of the serfs]
’Daddy made sergeant!’
...
Ben’s social status increased by 1 when he got the position! It was only an internship, but that was how powerful the aura of a top company was, and like any DBZ fan knew, the bigger the aura, the greater the power!
And the longer the hair!
Ben wasn’t against aping out...
Now, he could walk around the office swinging his big d*ck, in every corner...of the mailroom...
Actually, he didn’t know in which department he’d be working. In such a media conglomerate with its own massive headquarters, it was common for interns to work more like temps, filling in various roles throughout multiple departments. The managers told him HR would look at where they needed him and he’d find out on his first day. Ben was fine with anything though. ’As long as there are women there...and no Lumberg...’
Soon though, his smile faded, because he realized there was a new issue. The job was his, but Ben didn’t know what to do now. There were still 6 days remaining on his stat growth multiplier for social status, but how could he develop it? As far as work, he didn’t think he could win a promotion the first week, so he needed to think of something else.
The talisman of opportunity he used already expired, after doing a splendid job, and another one would be helpful but it wasn’t so easy getting them.
’How can I increase my social status?’ This point once again troubled Ben. Yet, although he couldn’t come up with any ideas, that didn’t mean it was the same for everyone else. That’s why he picked up the phone and called the most knowledgeable person he knew—Beluga.
When his friend answered, the two chatted about recent events, with Ben mentioning his problem.
"Increase social status?" Beluga took a couple of seconds to consider it. Then, he came up with the perfect solution. "Benjamin, that’s easy. For that, in your position at a big university dorm, there’s a very easy way..."
"What is it?"
"That’s..."
Ben waited with bated breath for Beluga to finish his dramatic pause.
Half a minute later. "WHAT THE F*CK IS IT?!?" Ben yelled.
"Huh? Oh. Throw a party! Excuse me, Benjamin. I got distracted. They were in the middle of the show announcing the baby-daddy."
...
Ben calmed down. He understood how important it was for every man to hear, "You are NOT the father..."
Waiting for that moment was like the opposite of Shark Tank, while also being in a literal shark tank...
’Throw a party...’ Considering it, Ben realized that...it was a great idea! "Where would I do it though? How? When?"
"Don’t you have your own dorm room? Do it there. Being the host will also make it easier to close a female, which is useful since house parties are great places to meet them. The how is easy, I’ll help you. As for when, it’s best to never dawdle on a diddle... We’ll do it tomorrow!"
After thinking about it, Ben agreed, pending a talk with Fariq.
Just like that, it was the birth of Ben the party boy...
As well as a fatherless child... The DNA tests exonerated all the men, because the father was actually the mother’s cousin. She went on the wrong show...
