Necromancer Of The Shadows

Chapter 1341 - 1341: It's Time To Finish What We Started (Part 3)

Inside the Closed World of Drayds…

“Believe me, I didn’t know anything about it!”

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

“You brute-headed idiot, do you think I am that gullible?!” Evan roared, chasing after Elysia as she sprinted for her life, narrowly dodging the barrage of attacks he was hurling at her.

“Just die already…” Evan growled, swinging the Halberd of Destruction, unleashing a wave of devastating energy that exploded right next to Elysia and launched her into the sky.

“You are being so mean! I just healed you, and instead of thanking me, you are trying to kill me!” She complained as she flailed midair.

“You bastard…” Evan gritted his teeth in rage. “When I asked you what kind of power you could use through your Transcendent Core, you told me you hadn’t figured it out yet. But the moment we returned here and you couldn’t carry me like a princess anymore, you immediately understood how to use your power and healed me?! Do you think I am an idiot?!”

Other shadow undeads—Nekros, Hana, Gobu, and the rest—nodded in unison, sneering at Elysia’s misery as they recalled the smug look she had given them while carrying Evan around.

“Break her head, Master! Break her head!” Nihilus, the Skeleton Lich shouted gleefully, bouncing around like an overenthusiastic cheerleader. “We all received the power of the Transcendent Core and understood how to use it right away! She was just making excuses at that time to not heal you and see you groan in pain like a helpless child!”

Sylvan watched the skeleton jiggle and dance like a teenage girl and felt an overwhelming urge to wash his aged eyes with holy water.

The other shadow undeads also stepped away from the bizarre Lich, but Nihilus didn’t seem to care and continued cheering enthusiastically.

Around an hour later, Evan—still chasing after Elysia—suddenly stopped, his expression turning serious.

“I didn’t expect him to be the one who would show up…” He muttered under his breath, as Eclipse sent him the final report from the battlefield where He had fought Gustav.

At the same time, his connection with Eclipse vanished—cut off completely, as if he had died.

Evan glanced toward Elysia—who had stopped running and was now shivering—and let out a slow breath, finally ending the chase.

“Damn it… To think she could have healed me the whole time using her Transcendent power, but didn’t—just because she wanted to carry me like a princess and brag to the others…” Evan’s hands twitched, itching to strangle her, but he held himself back.

The world essence within his core stirred, and a moment later, he summoned Eclipse—who had willingly self-destructed to return safely.

That’s right.

Eclipse hadn’t used any sort of escape skill or teleportation to escape from Mythrenor. He had simply killed himself, allowing Evan to easily summon him back through the link.

“I wonder if that guy was fooled into thinking my shadow undead can actually escape from him on their own,” Evan murmured, just as Eclipse reappeared before him.

“Holy God of Death—I thought I was really going to die this time!” Eclipse shouted, wide-eyed and shaking.

Evan smiled at the undead’s dramatic cry and shook his head.

“I only sent you there because I knew your Transcendent power would protect you, even against a powerful enemy,” He replied. A spark of interest lit up in his eyes.

“So? How was it? You escaped unscathed from the Progenitor of Elves using your Transcendent power—Prince of Dimensions. Are you feeling on top of the world right now?”

Eclipse’s mouth twitched at Evan’s teasing and he shook his head.

“Don’t joke about that, Master. Sure, I escaped—but only because he didn’t use his full strength from the beginning. If he had, I wouldn’t have been able to dodge even the first strike.”

“A full-powered attack from that guy would have destroyed a good chunk of the Frozen Monarchy Empire,” Evan muttered, shaking his head. “There is no way he would risk that, especially not for a mid-level Rank Three shadow undead like you. Besides…” Evan’s lips curled into a mocking grin.

“Winterclaw would never have kept quiet if his empire had been seriously damaged by Mythrenor’s attack.”

“But, was it really necessary?” Sylvan asked suddenly, his brow furrowed. “I don’t get why you left Eclipse behind. That’s basically telling them outright that you were behind all of this.”

“Even if I didn’t tell them, they would have figured it out eventually,” Evan replied, narrowing his eyes. “I wanted to send a message to someone—that I know about him, and that there is no need for him to keep playing from the shadows.”

“You are talking about Mythrenor?” Sylvan asked, recalling the information Evan had shared earlier.

“Yes. As long as he thinks we are unaware of his presence, he will continue to hide and strike at the worst possible moments. You know better than anyone…” Evan looked at Sylvan with a hard gaze. “Just how dangerous someone like him can be if he strikes from the shadows instead of attacking from front. He might even be stronger than Anastasia.”

Sylvan fell silent for a moment, then asked, “So your goal is to force him into the open? To make him fight head-on instead of lurking in the background?”

“Exactly.” Evan nodded. “Now that he knows we are aware of him, there is a higher chance he will step into the light rather than sneak around like a snake.”

Evan turned to Eclipse and smiled faintly.

“Still… I didn’t expect him to come personally to inspect the battlefield. I was planning to send the message through others. But to think he came himself…”

“What are you planning now?” Sylvan asked. “Since you gave them such a big ‘gift,’ I am sure they will be more prepared than ever. The war won’t be easy for us.”

Evan glanced at his shadow undeads, many of whom had grown significantly stronger after receiving Transcendent power from their cores and cracked his neck.

“It’s time to finish what we started a few months ago.” He looked Sylvan straight in the eye.

“We are going to end the war between the Demons and the Dragons—once and for all.”
