Chapter 2224.2: Sagittarii Hall
“Lu Tianling is a perverse genius, but this Lu Yun seems even more heaven-defying. Yan Guichi’s kicked a hornet’s nest this time.” Yu Hen suddenly thought of something and asked probingly, “Brother Lu, did you come across Yan Beifei before this?”
The prince recalled Xia Houwan mentioning that Yan Beifei had been present where the Void Sacred Flame was discovered. With the death feud between the Lus and Yan Guichi, it was inevitable that all out war would erupt if Lu Yun and Yan Beifei ran into each other.
Xia Houwan had also mentioned that he’d seen no sign of Yan Beifei after he left the area with the heavenly fire.
“Yan Beifei?” Lu Yun smacked his lips. “I took off his head.”
“Huh?” A tongue-tied Xia Houwan gaped at Lu Yun while a knowing expression appeared on Yu Hen’s face.
“Hot daaaaaamn. Brother you’re something else alright! Yan Beifei is one of the Dao Academy’s premier geniuses, but you took off his head!” Xia Houwan blinked for a few moments after hearing the news, then broke out in a broad grin. He plainly didn’t get along with Yan Beifei.
Lu Yun didn’t plan on concealing his actions as some of Yan Beifei’s followers had escaped. News that their young lord had died at Lu Yun’s hands should’ve already made its way back to the Origin King Estate.
The reality was that Yan Beifei was still alive and imprisoned within the sword pagoda, but it would be quite convenient for Lu Yun once the world thought Yan Beifei was dead.
“Well done!” Yu Hen nodded as well.
Xia Houwan and Yu Hen were both in their twenties. As such, they held the mindset of the young. They weren’t particularly elevated above their peers as there were plenty of awakened and combination cultivators in their twenties when it came to Great Xia.
Xia Houwan’s potential wasn’t very high, but he was the apple of his grandfather’s eye and had been pushed to his cultivation level through endless pills and medicines.
As for Yu Hen… he was one of the most preeminent geniuses in Great Xia.
“Your Highness!” Yu Hen’s guards clustered around them, watching Lu Yun warily. They would attack the young man the second he did anything out of the ordinary. Although Lu Yun had just saved their master’s life, these Great Xia royalty deathsworn were eternally on their guard.
“We have fully investigated the palace, there seems to be a seed storage hidden inside.” A young man shrouded in black armor reported stiffly to Yu Hen. He was part of a tremendous force nurtured by the Great Xia royal family—the Iron Dragons.
“A seed storage?” Yu Hen frowned.
The curtain of light outside the palace disappeared after Lu Yun suppressed the Tai Sui Immortal King. However, Sagittarii Hall was so mysterious that the Eye of Nullification could see through it, so Lu Yun didn’t immediately head in.
Some of the other cultivators did, but obtained nothing for their efforts.
“Let’s go take a look!” Yu Hen paused and glanced at the Lu young master.
“Yes, let’s!” Lu Yun understood the prince’s intentions; he wanted to recruit his savior to his side.
Lu Yun couldn’t be bothered with playing dumb or other games. Yan Guichi’s faction was exceedingly strong and too much for the current Lu Clan to manage. Attaching themselves to the ninety-ninth prince’s big thigh would deter some unnecessary trouble.
Not one to fall behind, Xia Houwan blustered at some of the prince’s guards to protect him and followed the other two in.
“Sagittarii Hall…” Lu Yun murmured to himself as he took in the magnificent building. It seemed to be the primary residence of the southern immortal emperor. Was this his Southern Palace?
Confusion crept into the young man’s eyes. The Undying Immortal King had died here and then Formation Hall… But the appearance of the Tai Sui Immortal King was a very strange twist. If this hall was what he thought it was, then this should be the heart of the Southern Palace.
However, they were far from the heart of the place of burial. They were also in a place that was many times larger than the Southern Palace.
All was a foggy haze inside Sagittarii Hall, as if it was filled with red mist. Even Lu Yun’s Eye of Nullification was greatly curtailed here.
“This really is Sagittarii Hall, the primary hall of the Southern Palace!” Lu Yun narrowed his eyes. All was empty inside the building, not even the emperor’s throne to be found in the center.
“What a massive palace hall—royal father’s palace is only one ten thousandth of this place!” Yu Hen looked around with amazement. “There is indeed a seed storage here, but it’s too bad the associated key isn’t present.”
Lu Yun snorted silently. A seed storage? There was another seed world. It looked like Sagittarii Hall’s true treasures were held in that locale, but there was nothing he could do about it given his low cultivation level.
On the other hand, he wouldn’t make the attempt even if he had the ability to access that world. The ponderous entity that he’d sensed in the hall hadn’t been the Tai Sui Immortal King. There was something else absorbing the core essence of all those treasures.
Is it the southern emperor? The thought suddenly occurred to Lu Yun.
Space was vast inside the sword pagoda and it was a world unto itself. It was deathly quiet with no sign of life. All was lifeless even at the heart of the pagoda, where the meter-high sword qi stood.
Two bedraggled figures were sprawled on the ground next to the sword qi, unable to twitch even a finger. One of them gnashed his teeth hatefully, the other was full of terror.
A thin ray of sword qi suddenly flew out of the sword pagoda’s core essence and coalesced into a person.
“Lu Yun!” Yan Beifei nearly crushed his teeth when he saw the figure.
Since Lu Yun had conducted an initial refinement of the treasure, he could use the inner void within the pagoda. He ignored Yan Beifei and walked straight up to the Tai Sui Immortal King.
“Tai Sui Immortal King, to think that you’d ultimately die by my hands still. The central immortal emperor will no longer be able to resurrect you.” He smiled warmly at the crestfallen immortal king.
Tai Sui smiled ruefully. He would resist with every fiber of his being if it was anyone else imprisoning him. He would never submit even on pain of death! Resistance wasn’t even a possibility when he faced the High Lord of the Northern Sky. He’d long accepted his fate.
Lu Yun might’ve considered converting the man into one of his subordinates if he hadn’t become a vicious spirit. But given Tai Sui’s transformation… he was a plague in human form. He would spread vicious spirits wherever he went.
“His Majesty is dead,” Tai Sui chuckled wryly.
“Tell me, what happened to the world of immortals?” Lu Yun cut straight to the chase.
Yan Beifei snapped out of his fury when he heard their conversation. Immortal King? Immortal emperor? World of immortals? Who was Lu Yun, really?
Unbidden, he held his breath and listened to them converse.
“I do not know…” Tai Sui shook his head. “When the five of us battled the Mindful Immortal Potentate, we suffered grave injuries despite overcoming him. We were trapped by his black pagoda and awoke in Sagittarii Hall, our nascent souls shattered.”
“We? There were others apart from you?” Lu Yun narrowed his eyes.
“Seven Kills, Army, Greedy Wolf, and Yinghuo were there as well. They joined hands and plotted against me when we first awoke. Those four concentrated the entire seal on me to make their escape.” Hate overflowed in Tai Sui’s eyes.
Lu Yun snorted with laughter. Tai Sui was very unliked in the world of immortals. Even his fellow inauspicious star immortal kings didn’t wish to befriend him. Who wouldn’t they sacrifice in critical moments, if not him?
“The Greedy Wolf Immortal King should be somewhere in Great Xia.” Lu Yun rifled through the memories of three thousand lifetimes. Although the world of immortals disappeared from his later lifetimes, he was able to find mention of the world in various books and records.
The ten heavenly materials, thirty-six earthly treasures, and the one hundred and eight fires of heaven and earth all had to do with the world of immortals. It looked like this knowledge had been purposefully disseminated by the four immortal kings. With Lu Youya deploying the Greedy Wolf Star a while ago, Lu Yun could essentially be certain that the Greedy Wolf King was in Great Xia.
But since the four of them survived, why didn’t they share the way to kill the vicious spirits?
More questions swirled in Lu Yun’s heart.
“What’s in the Formation Hall?” Tai Sui started trembling. “I don’t know what it is, just that it’s an incredible existence. My nascent soul and that of Seven Kills, Army, Greedy Wolf, Yinghuo, and Terra Demon trapped on the black pagoda were most likely swallowed by that person…”
Lu Yun frowned and dismissed his projection.
……
“Who is Lu Yun?” Yan Beifei couldn’t help but ask.
“You dared set yourself against him without even knowing who he is?” Tai Sui flicked a glance at the man, pity and jeering tinging his tone.
“Is he a reincarnated powerhouse from the world of immortals?” Yan Beifei suddenly lost his confidence and thought of his captor with trepidation.
“A reincarnated powerhouse from the world of immortals? Hahahaha!!” Tai Sui crowed with maniacal laughter. “He is the immortal emperor of the north, the High Lord of the Northern Sky! He stands at the apex of the world of immortals and is one of the five greatest of the three realms and six paths. How is powerhouse sufficient to describe him?”
“An immortal emperor, is he? But he’s a failure in the end and dead. Even if he reincarnates, he will still be a failure in the end. The world belongs to us now!” Yan Beifei narrowed his eyes and began considering how to escape.
