Chapter 1506: Chapter 1503: Chu Heng Returns

A maidservant rushed in and, upon seeing Ye Muyu, hurriedly greeted her, “Lady, the master has returned.”

“Really?” Ye Muyu accidentally dropped the mold she was holding and quickly turned to walk outside.

Su Mei hurried after her to drape a cloak over her shoulders. “Lady, take it slow. The master should freshen up first. You haven’t even put on your outer garment yet.”

The room was warm, but it was already the deep of winter outside, snowflakes falling, and the entire mansion gate had to be swept daily to ensure normal passage.

Reminded of this, Ye Muyu realized, “I almost forgot.”

“The lady is eager to see the master. When the master knows, he will surely be delighted.” Chun Xing, bold as always, knowing the good relationship between them, playfully teased without hesitation.

Ye Muyu understood her nature—it was her own indulgence—so she naturally wouldn’t be angry.

She pretended to huff lightly, her ears slightly reddened, truly worried about Chu Heng’s situation, but she said, “Don’t talk nonsense.”

Chun Xing’s voice softened considerably, “I wasn’t talking nonsense; the master will indeed be happy.”

“You cheeky girl.” Ye Muyu had barely finished speaking when the kitchen door was suddenly pushed open from outside.

Ye Muyu looked up just as her cloak was put in place, and what she saw was Chu Heng’s chin with short stubble, and his weather-beaten face, obviously lacking rest, with dark circles under his eyes, stirring compassion.

“Ah Heng?” Ye Muyu was slightly taken aback, then reacted quickly and went to him, raising her hand to touch his face. Before she could, a large hand caught hers; his hand, strong and warm like fire, held hers.

“You’ve rushed back here? You look like you haven’t rested in a long time.” Ye Muyu furrowed her brow, feeling a bit distressed.

Chu Heng, however, smiled, “Not entirely rushed. Once the affairs were settled, I came back. What were you doing?”

“Come here and warm yourself.”

Ye Muyu didn’t give a direct answer, pulling him into the room, taking off his cloak, and taking him to sit by the brazier to warm up.

Chu Ziluo called out, “Father.”

Chu Heng nodded, asked a couple of caring questions, then his gaze fell on Nuanbao, noticing that the chubby little one with indistinct features had grown a lot, a wave of warmth filled his heart.

His hand wasn’t cold; he reached out to poke Nuanbao’s cheek. “Nuanbao, call me Father.”

Nuanbao, with eyes like glistening grapes, looked at him with a meek expression, just like how Ye Muyu often viewed him, making Chu Heng suddenly smile, “Ah Yu, does Nuanbao spend a lot of time with you usually?”

Ye Muyu was presenting him hot soup, which had been simmered with excellent bones for two or three hours and enriched with plenty of medicinal herbs, qualifying it as medicinal cuisine.

Not knowing Chu Heng would return today, the kitchen hadn’t prepared ginger soup.

Ye Muyu, puzzled, came over with the soup and replied, “That’s right, Nuanbao is well-behaved normally, not troublesome to take care of, even the wet nurse hasn’t intervened.”

“No wonder.” Chu Heng’s eyes were filled with teasing, “Nuanbao is just like you when he acts spoiled.”

Ye Muyu’s face turned red instantly.

The kitchen was lively, and most of the people had heard these words.

“What nonsense are you talking.” Ye Muyu reached out to push him, only to have her hand caught by Chu Heng, drawing quite a bit of attention. She quickly lowered her voice, “Let go quickly, there are so many people around, let go of me and drink the soup!”
