The past week has been a wild one in Elarion; thousands of you geniuses came to register. They all want a chance to prove themselves, and this time, they will have the opportunity.

So, thousands registered, and while thousands were rejected because they didn’t meet the requirements, the others managed to secure a spot in the competition that is set to start in two days.

Registrations are almost over.

Of course, while the Half-Elves thought of it, the other races didn’t send any of their people to come and try to claim a spot from the Half-Elves…

…Well, the other races, such as the Beastkins, Dragons, Dwarves, and the Demons, didn’t send any of their geniuses… except the Elves, who for the past centuries had been trying to suppress the Half-Elves.

While it would be simple for them to do that, the Half-Elves wouldn’t just stand there and let the Elves take everything from them.

They would fight back, and while the ending wouldn’t be ideal for them, they would also succeed in killing most of the Elves… that alone is what is preventing the Elves from going on an all-out war with the Half-Elves.

Naturally, the Half-Elves reproduce faster than the Elves, so number-wise, the Half-Elves have that to spare.

However, while the Elves aren’t declaring war against the Half-Elves, they also aren’t backing down. So, for the past years, they’ve been using one underhanded means after another to try to get the Half-Elves to surrender.

The recent move, which was to deprive them of the 10 slots they had previously allocated to the Half-Elves, was a tactic they had planned to use to lure the Half-Elves in pleading for the five spots they had taken.

And as they say, pleading is the first phase of surrender.

However, the Half-Elves didn’t come or even send a thank-you note back to the Elves like they expected. Instead, the Half Elves made a move that shows the entire world the kind of monsters the Elves are.

They announced an open competition to select five people to represent them when the Flame Tower opens. It was a slap in the face of the Elves.

That was what angered them, prompting them to send five of their best to enter the Half-Elves’ competition and reclaim the five slots they had given them.

At the entrance leading to Elarion, five Elves—four males and a female—stood, glaring at the 35 guards, each standing at the core formation stage, their weapons just within reach.

Yet, they couldn’t gather the courage to make a move against the five Elves.

“Are you preventing us from entering?” Aeric, a green-haired elf wielding a staff, asked, looking smugly at the guards.

The guards gritted their teeth, watching the smug expressions on the faces of the five brats making their lives difficult.

“I thought this was an open competition, which, from the way I see it, just about anyone can participate. I meet all the requirements, and so do my friends, so why are you barring us from entering?” Aeric asked again, but the guards didn’t mind them… they just stood their ground.

They knew that allowing these five to enter meant the chances of their people getting a chance to enter the Flame Tower in three weeks would be virtually nonexistent.

All five are some of the most powerful fire manipulators in the Elven Kingdom…

They are aware of their reputation, and knowing that all five had entered the Flame Tower once and comprehended a Flame Art, the guards knew allowing them to participate would be detrimental to their interests.

The King ordered them not to allow any Elf into the kingdom until the registrations are over.

They can only block them, since attacking will only lead to disaster. If they attack these five, the Elves will find an excuse to retaliate, and that would be too dangerous for them.

So, they were biding their time, and in an hour, they would allow them to enter, which by the time they get there, registrations will be over.

Behind them, some Half-Elves who, due to the blockage, couldn’t enter the city started cursing at the five Elves.

“I never knew shamelessness had a humanoid form until I knew of the Elves. How can they be this shameful to the extent they want to claim the five spots we have?”

“Sometimes, I just want to cut off my ears so people will stop associating me with the Elves. Makes my stomach ick knowing I have their blood flowing through my body.”

“Same here. Having a part of them in my lineage makes me want to vomit whenever I meet them.”

“That bitch and her people are just too shameful. If I had the means, I would slaughter them all.”

As more curses continued to rain down on the prideful Elves, the five started to get irritated.

“All of you, shut up… remember, without us there wouldn’t be you losers.” One of the Elves fired back, but the Half-Elves received his insult with a disgusted spat on the ground.

“And what makes you think we want to be associated with you devils? I would rather be a Drow than be called an Elf.”

A young man wielding a staff said, glaring at the Elves. He was now coming to register and join the competition, but as it turned out, he would miss the registration.

This made him so angry that he went too far with his insult. But thanks to the heat of the moment, many nodded. However, the Elves didn’t take the insult well.

Aeric, the one who appeared to be the leader of the five, stabbed his staff into the ground, raising three spears made of Earth and Fire.

“Repeat what you said one last time.” His words came out cold as the energy around him thickened. Naturally, most started distancing themselves from the Half-Elf who spoke. They could cheer him on, but couldn’t die with him.

The Half-Elf paled when he felt the three flame spears aimed at him…

“I dare you to say it…” Aeric threatened again, but the Half-Elf couldn’t speak. He most definitely didn’t want to die.

“Go ahead, say it.”

“He said he would rather become a Drow or perhaps a Dark Elf than be associated with idiots like you…” Suddenly, a voice spoke as a handsome human sauntered and stopped beside the Half-Elf.

“He said it. What are you going to do about it?”
