Last night, Wednesday.
Under the streetlights, turns in the dark alleys, and over the walls, a man was running as if death was chasing him.
"What the fuck!? What the fuck!? Who are those people!?"
He gritted his teeth while holding a bag.
The man kept looking back. There were shadows lurking behind him, however, there was not a figure in sight. This was scaring more is there are multiple men chasing him down.
He didn't care anymore. Running in unpopulated areas will be the reason for his death. At the very least, if he's in public, he could drag those who were chasing him into prisons.
The end of the alley was getting closer and closer. It was like the light rays of hope for him while behind him were hell catching up. Thinking he's about to be saved, he hastened up. The light was almost was within his reach, but a second before he touched it, it closed down on him.
A shadow loomed and blocked his last remaining hope.
"No..."
He stopped running and upon seeing the figure in front of him, he was petrified by the shadow's gaze.
"Y-you... what do you want?"
"Hidden Wolves... that's what you call yourselves, right?"
"Huh? How'd you know that!?"
The man didn't even think of turning around to escape again. For him, the hell had already caught up. He was only acting tough.
"I didn't know you bitches are still active after we've put you all in your place."
The shadow smirked. This made the man realized the identity of the shadow.
"You're.... from the Handwing Gang?"
"I was, yes."
"I thought you guys were dissolved...?"
The man trembled. His fear heightened and the tough act he was holding from the art began to crumble.
"Haa... I don't understand any of you."
"?"
"You're so gullible to rumors. Do you have any evidence that the gang dissolved?"
"Does that mean..."
"Ah, no, Handwing Gang is no more."
"Then...!"
"But a more terrifying one was formed under the devil's leadership."
The man shook and dropped on his back.
"The infamous devil? The Devil Himself is back!?"
"Enough questions, I want to get answers from now on." the shadow stepped closer and the man finally saw his face.
"Hardfist Jo..."
"Hardfist Jo? Yeah, you can still call me that. But I'm not only Hardfist right now... hahaha..."
Uncle Jo looked down on the man and kicked him further back to the dark alley.
"Ack!"
The man vomited saliva from that one kick as he flew into the hell's mouth.
"Now, I want answers. Are you with the Hidden Wolves?"
"..."
The man just coughed and lowered his head, not saying anything.
"You want another kick again?"
"Eek..!"
"Then speak."
With a clench of his fist, the man finally answered.
"Yes..."
"But you're just a pawn, right? You don't even have a single Spirit."
The man didn't notice Uncle Jo's way of words - of how he's saying that there's someone with two Spirits.
"Y-yes..."
"But at least you should know that you're little rat group is the one supplying firearms to thugs, right?"
The man just nodded and didn't speak.
"You're not that loyal and you don't have a Spirit. I bet you don't know much about the Hidden Wolves in the first place."
The man clenched his fists tighter, ashamed that he was being reminded of his position.
"But I still don't know if I should trust you... Dennis, it's up to you now."
Uncle Jo glanced at what's behind the man and a middle-aged man appeared from the shadows.
"What's he's saying is correct."
With that one sentence, Uncle Jo immediately nodded without a question. He trusted Dennis' skills. Dennis didn't really have a Spirit, to begin with so Teren appointed him like some sort of an intelligence agent. He will be the main player in information gathering and extraction with his complementary Spirits - a Spirit of Ghoul and Spirit of Sensitivity. One to stalk his target and the other to sense if the target is lying or not.
Of course, it's not that easy if he were to encounter a dangerous foe. Therefore, his partner, Uncle Jo became the all-rounder. With his defense, Spirit of Armouring, Teren gave him the Spirit of Strenght and Spirit of Speed.
Such a thing was just a pipe dream to these two. Although it wasn't easy, they were able to overcome the possession of two Evil Spirits and have become unstoppable in the local area just like what Teren said.
The difference between Spirits and Evil Spirits is that the latter is not something that could be tamed. Instead, you buy them. Spirits will live inside you. If you've overcome their desire to live, they will live accordingly in your senses or your specific body. Most of them do. For example, Hanon's Spirit of Vision lives in his eyes.
It's up to his skill to use most of the Spirit. It's like an additional limb. Meanwhile, the Spirit will see his life as if it was a movie. Although that's not what they originally want, that's why you 'tame' them so that they will compromise.
As for Evil Spirits, they literally take something else. That's why they are called Evil in the first place. Instead of just living in your eye, they want control of it. If they can't control it, they will remove it.
However, these two didn't suffer much loss because Teren was able to 'tame' Evil Spirits. Furthermore, Evil Spirits are much stronger and have abilities that are much specific than normal Spirits. This is becuase their will is desperate. They are not Great Spirits but they do not think if it's good or bad, they just want to live and that will is stronger than normal Spirits who would compromise.
"Now, you have two choices: send me to your base where your leaders are right now or you will die." Uncle Jo put up two fingers, confident with his words, "Remember, if you lie, you die too. My pal here can tell what is the truth from lie, understand?"
The man nodded as he dropped the bag he held. It has his weapons inside but he didn't use them.
