Chapter 1147 Reasons To Be Wary
"Level 40 elite monsters? Heh, this will be way easier than I thought-" Steel Mountain started; however, right as he was in the middle of his sentence, a series of system alerts sounded off in his ear.
〈System Alert: Your stats have been adjusted.〉
〈System Alert: Warning! Certain skills may not be usable for the duration of this challenge!〉
Suddenly, most of those present felt as though some strength had left their bodies, pulled away by a mysterious force.
'Oh? Most of my stats have been reduced by about 70%. While my defense has been reduced all the way to zero. With our inventory, item effects, and certain skills also being restricted, it has been set in a way that makes it nearly impossible for one to pass without relying on the Spiraling Flames Pill.'
"How are we supposed to defeat 50 elite monsters with these stats and heavy restrictions?!" Blue Quill questioned as he removed the crossbow from his back.
"What the hell is going on?! My defense has been reduced to zero and most of my defensive skills have been restricted!" Steel Mountain stated while he positioned himself in between the group and the first wave of Molten Crawler Lava Beasts.
"Don't get distracted. Since it's like this, then there must be a way for us to overcome it that's within the range of our current capabilities." Haishe said confidently as he brandished his sword.
The weapon in Haishe's hand was called Dark Slayer. It was a thin and long pitch black sword approximately 1.2 meters in length. It gave off an ominous feeling as a faint dark purple aura drifted around it its blade.
"The effects of Dark Slayer has been restricted. Fortunately, at least the weapon itself can still be used. Otherwise, it would've been impossible for most of us to execute the skills we do have available." Haishe thought to himself.
"Steel Mountain, attract their aggro! Mystic Lock, take some of the pressure off of Steel Mountain if too many enemies start to appear and led them around for a bit. Blue Quill, Iron Cauldron, you two just focus on keeping yourselves and Elder Pill Master safe. Autumn Winds, we'll be counting on you to support us. Palace Master Izroth, I'll be counting on you, as well." Haishe stated.
Haishe did not know much about Izroth's abilities. However, he was aware of the fact that Izroth was currently ranked first on the event leaderboards above many other strong players. Even the sword freak of Fatal Touch had been surpassed by Izroth. Most shockingly, the gap between Izroth and the others was by no means small. There were even rumors that started circulating around not long ago that Izroth was the one responsible for the death of one of the Night Lords of the skounae.
As a result of all of this, Haishe figured it was best to give Izroth free reign and see what he was capable of up close. He also hoped to use this moment to get a grasp on Izroth's combat capabilities—something even those haughty top guilds had been unable to do.
Izroth unsheathed his Sword of the Storm as a powerful gust of wind blew around his location. At the same time, Izroth's figure started to flicker in and out of existence as he used Flickering Steps.
Although his stats had had been reduced, the trial dungeon did not restrict one's titles. This meant that Izroth still received the benefits from his title Gift of Divine Speed. Using that along with Flickering Steps, Izroth's agility soared to around 10,000 points!
"So fast...!" Mystic Lock gasped as his eyes widened in shock at Izroth's speed.
Mystic Lock was a rogue-type class. While his speed could not be considered top class, he was confident that he could match Izroth's current speed. But, that was only with his original stats. At the moment, he could barely even follow Izroth with his eyes. This made him wonder just how fast Izroth was without the stats adjustment in place.
As his figure flickered throughout the battlefield, Izroth arrived before the first Lava Beast and swung his Sword of the Storm downward.
Swoosh!
The Sword of the Storm sliced through the Molten Crawler Lava Beasts, splitting it in two. However, in a split second, the Lava Beast's body pulled itself back together.

'Oh? Their defense is nonexistent. If that's the case...'
Izroth's attack stat had been lowered to 1,389 points after the stat adjustment. Due to the item effects being in stasis, the benefits he obtained from his Ring of the Primordial Colossus had been temporarily deactivated. Even his Heavenly Golden Body's Earthly Golden Bones passive was rendered useless. Nevertheless, Izroth was not the type to rely only on items and high-ranked skills.
Thanks to the Spiraling Flames Pill he consumed, Izroth's fire resistance was 30% and he would inflict 30% bonus damage to the Lava Beasts. However, if this was all there was to the pill he crafted, how would it have been worthy of an S-grade rating in quality from a grade ten Apothecary?
Izroth unleashed a vicious onslaught of attacks at the Lava Beast. The creature was too slow to respond to Izroth's actions. In order to respond, the Lava Beast's body trembled as it shot out blobs of molten lava in every direction, followed by multiple intense heat waves.
However, with his speed and reaction time, Izroth was able to avoid the blobs of lava and even counterattack in between the small windows of opportunity.
After roughly five to six seconds of nonstop attacks, Izroth managed to successfully slay the first Lava Beast.
〈System Alert: You have defeated a «Molten Crawler Lava Beast»! [1/50]〉
The others present were left momentarily stunned by what they had just witnessed. How long was that? Three seconds? Five seconds? Whatever the case, wasn't this a little too fast?
Without a doubt, their stats had been adjusted. In the end, even if it was only as level 40 monster, it was still an elite monster with 75,000 health. While it was not particularly strong for a level 40 elite monster, to defeat it in less than ten seconds alone was a ridiculous feat!
A small grin formed on Haishe's face as he furrowed his brows after observing Izroth fight firsthand and tightened the grip on his Dark Slayer.
"I can see why the top guilds have been so wary of Palace Master Izroth. He's too much, really too much. There's no way they can leave him be. I guess what happened during the first raid wasn't just pure luck, after all." Haishe thought to himself.
A grade three Apothecary, owner of the Mystical Realm Palace, and someone who possessed combat skills that were enough to rival that of the top players in RML. That kind of individual—how could the top guilds just sit back and leave such a person unchecked.
"That damned Silent Steps really went and made a lot of extra work for me." Haishe thought to himself as he could only sigh.
Due to Silent Steps, the previous leader of Fatal Touch's, actions, Izroth did not seem to have any intention of being on friendly terms with them. Nonetheless, Haishe was not as foolish as Silent Steps. He knew that even if one could not become friends, there was still the possibility of gaining some mutual benefits.
"Let's hurry up and clear this trial!" Haishe roared as he charged toward the nearest Lava Beasts.
...
Approximately 25 minutes later...
〈System Alert: You have defeated a «Molten Crawler Lava Beast»! [45/50]〉
Izroth, Haishe, and the others continued to slay the Lava Beasts as they crawled out of the lava. Fortunately, they only spawned in groups of five and not all at once. Otherwise, they would have been immediately overwhelmed.
Along the way, there were a few close calls; however, Autumn Winds provided the necessary support at crucial moments.
Of course, the biggest contributor this time around was none other than Izroth. Alone, he had slain over 30 Molten Crawler Lava Beasts. That was twice as much as all the others had eliminated combined!
Though even that was not Izroth's largest contribution.
"Hey, hasn't this gotten a little too easy the longer we're fighting?" Steel Mountain asked.
At the beginning, the fire damage, especially the naturally damage over time that came from the environment was harsh to deal with. However, as time went on, the damage become lower, before stopping altogether. That's not all, but even the damage they dealt to the Lava Beasts had increased substantially over time.
This was highly unusual as the longer fights went on, the more difficult they became. This was common knowledge in RML or any game for that matter. Yet, as time went on, it clearly felt as though the fights had grown easier.
"Now that you mention it, the fight has felt easier, especially after around ten minutes or so. It's almost like these Lava Beasts started to get weaker." Mystic Lock commented.
