Mao Qiqi stood by the car door, cheering on her family; she had no choice, as her parents wouldn’t let her kill Zombies, so she could only watch the battle, clutching her little fists tightly. One day, she vowed to earn her parents’ awe.

More than twenty Zombies were quickly annihilated, and Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin managed to kill three of them.

Lin Xiuyuan was still carefully checking to ensure no Crystal Cores were overlooked, but he only found four.

By then, it was getting dark. Now, in the early stages of the Apocalypse, Su Jin knew there wasn’t much danger at night yet, but she still urged everyone to head back home quickly.

Since the guest rooms at her grandparents’ house were already full, Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin would have to share a room with Lin Xiuyuan tonight. Fortunately, Lin Xiuyuan’s room was spacious enough that they could fit an extra military folding bed after a bit of rearranging.

Su Jin pretended to move a folding bed from inside the house and handed it to Lu Hao, but in reality, she had retrieved it from her magical space. When she had entered the space, Su Jin had already checked on her grandparents and was relieved to find that her family was safe, and so were the old couple.

Because other people had come over, Su Jin also instructed her grandparents to temporarily stay inside the space.

Actually, the grandparents had grown accustomed to living in the space, which had its own day and night cycles, fresh air, quiet surroundings, and everything one could need.

After Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin finished setting up in Lin Xiuyuan’s room, they were surprised to see a full table of dishes in the living room.

The food was ready so quickly?

The two didn’t suspect much, as not everyone could conceive of a space where one could cook, preserve freshness, and accommodate people; they just assumed that Su Jin’s family was very capable.

“Captain, sister-in-law, you saved us, and now we’re mooching off you; we really feel embarrassed,” Yin Chengtian truly felt ashamed. Where could they find such thoughtful leaders?

“Yes, sister-in-law, I, Shi Jin, am willing to lay down my life for you and the Captain!” Shi said, genuinely touched. If not for the captain and sister-in-law, he and Yin Chengtian might have already been devoured by that Golden Giant Python in the apartment building.

“Knowing is good, focus on improving your skills,” Lu Hao didn’t bother with formalities; having people who were grateful was good for the team.

The two, unknowingly bound by this gesture, were teary-eyed in a moment. They grabbed their bowls and shoved some rice into their mouths, holding back the tears that were about to fall, marveling at how delicious the rice was!

“Young man, don’t feel embarrassed; I’ve been freeloading here for quite some time, it’s no trouble at all,” Nie Qing said while sipping his soup, praising Grandma Lin’s gradually improving soup-making skills—it tasted sweeter with every sip.

“Haha, at least you’re aware that you’re here to freeload,” Lu Guanhai laughed and teased Nie Qing as they ate and bickered.

The family was used to such scenes. The silent meals were never suited for their home, as their dining table was always lively, though it felt somewhat incomplete without the grandparents there.

That night, Su Jin and Lu Hao entered the space in their room and found that, aside from Lin Xiuyuan, everyone was already inside, chatting.

“Xiao Jin, you couldn’t sleep either, hehehe,” Lin Tianhui laughed behind her hand; she had planned to sneak in to check on the two elderly people but found the whole family had secretly slipped in.

“Yeah, I want to test the Beast Cores we collected today,”

Su Jin said as she took out three different-sized Beast Cores from Nie Qing’s storage bag, which she had borrowed. The storage bag kept the cores from being absorbed by the space when placed directly inside it. Now that Nie Qing could enter the space as well, he didn’t need the storage bag anymore.

Two of the cores were from Zombie Dogs, and one was from a Golden Python, with the latter being the largest.

The family curiously looked at the three cores, which soon melted like ice cubes and were absorbed by the space.

Su Jin moved herself with her mind to the area of the stream shrouded in gray mist and discovered that the space had indeed moved slightly beyond the marks she made in front of the mist, indicating that absorbing the Beast Cores was beneficial. She wished she could encounter more Golden Giant Pythons, Su Jin sighed.

But it was only the first day of the Apocalypse, and Lu Hao comforted her not to be too anxious about collecting more cores; he would gather them for her in the future.

Lin Tianhui and Lin Tianzhen chatted with the elders for a while before everyone went back to sleep outside.

These days, Mao Qiqi always felt that as soon as she closed her eyes, her mind would be filled with scattered images, which she didn’t understand. It was like watching Lin Xiuyuan play a video game with a mini-map, especially at night, she could see many little bright spots in the dark when she closed her eyes.

“1, 2, 3, 4…” she tried counting the bright spots in her mind and discovered that the arrangement and number of these nearest bright spots matched the number of people currently in their house?!

Could this be Brother Xiuyuan’s game map?

Mao Qiqi didn’t share this discovery. She wasn’t sure if there was something wrong with her body until, several days later, she noticed a very red dot appearing on the map.
