Chapter 1553: Suppliers
"You'll have to remain behind us, friend. We will do the talking," Jay spoke.
Ning was gathered in their hideout with Jay, Cenn, and a bunch of other people whose names he remembered only because they needed to get captured.
Ning sat around the center area of the room, with the men surrounding him. They were all chatting normally, but the atmosphere was a little serious today.
After all, in just any minute now, the suppliers would be coming into the room.
Ning wore a regular outfit to not stand out, made to do so by the two men. They were worried that they would spook their suppliers if they found out that Ning was part of the military with his Cadet uniform.
Ning waited for a long while, bored but also attentive to the situation. At some point, he began hearing... vibrations.
The ground tremored around Ning and the other people but Ning was the only one able to sense it. It was soft enough that most people didn't even realize it was happening.
There were tremors every day, all around Ning, but this late at night, the tremors stood out. They weren't supposed to be here at all.
He looked around with curious eyes, trying to locate the direction of the source the tremor was coming from. As the tremor grew more and more noticeable, he finally looked toward the wall on the other side of the room.
On the complete opposite side of where the door was, the wall began to bulge slowly and everyone stood up.
Ning looked around and realized this was expected.
Then, the wall opened wide to reveal a small hole inside of it with people standing in the center. One by one, five people walked out of the hole.
Three of them were men and two were women, none of who had their faces hidden at all.
Ning was surprised. 'They have Carvers?' he thought. That meant they were traveling through the underground. Did that mean that a soldier wasn't involved in this matter?
Ning could only wonder.
"Welcome, Friends," Cenn said. "I hope you had a good journey."
"You think you're funny, don't you Cenn?" one of the women asked. "What fun is there in a journey through the darkness."
"Well, I was just making small talk."
"Let's get on with business," she said and made a small gesture.
A man and woman walked to the front with big bags on their shoulder. They put the bag down on the table, each one carrying around 25 kilograms of Dust.
Cenn made a gesture and Jay moved to the bag and began opening it. He checked through the Dust, making sure of not just the quality but also the quantity. He also checked a lot of things that Ning didn't care to inform himself about.
Once he was done, he walked over to Cenn and gave a small nod. Everything was in order.
"So, 1 million, isn't it?" Cenn asked.
"Deliver it right away and we will depart," the woman said.
Cenn smiled. "Sure, but can you wait just a bit? We have something else to talk about today," he said.
The woman frowned. "And what would that be?" she asked.
Cenn nudged Ning forward and Ning arrived at the front, still keeping quiet. "We met this brother a week ago. Actually, he came to us but that doesn't matter. We wish for you to see what he is capable of."
"What is he capable of?" the woman asked.
Ning took out his small necklace, showing a liquid with a Spark inside of it. "I'm going to drink this. Don't get scared," he said and drank the vial.
The woman wasn't scared, but she was certainly worried that Ning was going to do something. She also had two of her men drink a vial of Spark and get ready in case something happened.
Ning ignored them and walked up to a table on the side with a bunch of rocks on top of them. As the men and women from the other group curiously watched what Ning was doing, Ning activated his power and pulverized the entire pile of rocks.
The group was a little surprised, but not that much. Turning stone to sand, while difficult, wasn't that-
The woman in charge of the operation paused. She quickly walked toward Ning without a care for her life, while her bodyguard quickly followed behind her.
Ning stepped back, letting her come up to the Dust and check it. Her eyes were wide in shock when she realized that everything she was looking at was all Dust.
There was not a single impurity in the pile that was on the table. Not to mention, the entire thing weighed about a third of what they had brought and it appeared out of nowhere. "What... what did you do?" the woman asked, turning toward Ning. "What did you do?" "Should be obvious," Ning said. "I turned the stones into Dust."
"That's impossible," the woman said. "You can't change anything into Dust."
"I just did," Ning said.
"No," the woman said, refusing to believe him. "You... you must be a teleporter. Yes, you teleported the rocks somewhere and teleported Dust behind."
"Is that how teleportation works?" Ning asked the woman.
The woman looked at Ning unable to answer him. She was wrong, clearly wrong, but to admit it would be to admit that he had just done what he said he had done.
And she did not want to believe him at all. After all, believing him would mean that there was suddenly someone who was far better at this thing than they were.
They had to create Dust from scratch, while there was a man here who could eat a bit of Spark and make magic happen in a second.
"Don't get too scared," Ning said. "I showed it not as a threat to your work, but as an offer. Let me work with you."
The woman looked back. "What?"
Ning nodded. "I want to work with you."
