Chapter 1608: To Mexol
The momentum going forward increased significantly as people began preparing for the time to depart. New ships were made in that time, and people were sent to gather more Spark in that time.
People went far and wide in Wream to all ends to gather as much Spark as they could. Much Spark had gathered while they were on the dark side of the planet, so there was a lot for them to gather now that the sun was back on the horizon.
Ning had been sent out on multiple occasions to gather the Spark, and by now, they had nearly 30 ships full of it. They had 50 more ships to carry all the people, so that was enough Spark to last them for a while.
They could also use this Spark to trade for a better life when they reached back to the planet.
As the time for departure got closer, the entire city was both excited and nervous. Many looked forward to going to the planet, but there were also a few who worried that life would be harder.
These were the same people that had voted to not leave, but with everyone going, they were ready to leave now as well.
The Major General foresaw a future where there were riots in the cities, so he also sent cadets to keep a close eye on everything. Most of the cities were under strict martial control to not let any arguments turn into unnecessary trouble.
They managed to do this to keep the peace until the very last day.
Finally, it was time to leave.
Unlike when they left for the other moons, everyone was going to leave at the same time now. They would stagger their lift-off to not be in each other's way, but they would still be close enough so that they could arrive at the planet at relatively the same time.
Ning had no job on the ship as a Converter, so he was treated no differently than as a regular civilian. Being a lieutenant gave him a bit more freedom though, but even that was nothing. Thankfully, since there were a lot more ships now, people didn't all have to be kept in tight spaces, standing up, tied to their seats. They had more comfortable seating arrangements this time, with proper chairs to sit in.
They could even leave their seats to go to the bathrooms should they wish to.
Ning wrapped the belt around his seat, tightening it as everyone got to their place. It took some time for all of the seats to be filled, but when it was, it was time to leave.
The massive mountain-sized ship gained motion as the gravity on it lowered to a minuscule amount, while gravity from another direction pulled on it. They slowly lifted from the planet, gaining momentum one step at a time.
Their speed began increasing slowly, and with that, the acceleration increased as well. Everyone felt a heightened sense of gravity on themselves, as they were pushed onto their seats while the ship accelerated into outer space.
After a few minutes, the gravity shifted suddenly, from being on their back to being toward the side. The ships that were being pulled toward Krimanax thanks to its gravity were now directly being attracted in another direction.
Ning did not know what they were pulling on as he did not believe it to be planet Mexol. It was simply too soon to be pulling themselves toward Mexol as there could be so many objects within them and Mexol that they couldn't see.
It was likely that they were pulling on other of the other moons and only when they were in the clear would they pull on the planet.
Once they began flying, there was no more added gravity to worry about. The speed of the ship was quite fast, so there was just enough gravity to keep them attached to the floor.
Ning undid the belts that fastened him onto the seats and went about the ship, seeing to it that everything was in order.
The last time people had tried to leave for Mexol, one of the ships had been filled with very old Spark, which had disappeared during their journey. That disappearance had caused a sudden vacuum in the ship that caused it to collapse on itself just enough so that one of the sections of the ship had come undone.
Then, the pressure from inside of the ship had used that section to blow everything out, causing an explosion that destroyed the ship. Quite a few people had died during that explosion, and Ning did not want someone else to go through the same thing again.
He had made sure that every ship was up to par when it came to flying through space, but he still wanted to make sure.
After looking through his own ship, he teleported outside into the vacuum and waited for the other ships to catch up. It was nearly 15 minutes before the next ship came and Ning entered to see how it was going.
There were about 300 people in this particular ship, all of whom were either Attractors meant to navigate the ships, or Breathers and Burners who were meant to push the ship out.
Ning checked through the ship and moved on to the next one. One by one, he went through the ship, checking everything before moving back to the very front where more ships had taken off before his.
He checked through those ships as well and finally returned to his own. Now that everything was okay, he could just sit back and relax.
The ship finally changed directions again, going from whatever moon it was headed toward, finally to heading toward Mexol.
From now till Mexol, there was nothing but a vast expanse of space to go through. It would take them days, if not weeks, to get to Mexol, and until then, there was nothing most of them could do but sit back and relax.
