It was already early in the night when everyone was having a big feast, eating delicious smoked Sky Eel, which had a tender white meat and a fishy flavor, although rather dry. It went well with sauces that were very citric and made the meat juicy though. Some rice, potatoes and other tubers, and fresh veggies made the feast something to remember.

The Sky Eels were without a doubt a delicacy, their salty meat and soft skin made them really good to eat at almost any point, and Aquarina’s parents even made some sashimi with it, eating it raw with some lemon juice and sauces, they said the raw meat had a special flavor of its own as well, which could be deliciously enjoyed.

“You sure brought a lot of meat though, how many of these damn things did you hunt Aquarina?” Nepheline asked. “If you were in the Kingdo you’ll probably already get some sort of tax for overhunting a species!”

In most Kingdoms, overhunting monsters that weren’t a pest or had overpopulations that affected the nature of an area would often times end up taxing the hunters, and if they can’t pay the tax, they’ll go to jail.

This happened because in the past, several precious monsters and beast types went extinct due to over hunting and because of their delicious flavor or incredibly valuable materials.

These monsters going extinct were big losses, as they produced fine food and materials, and if they were hunted in moderation, the people could still enjoy them.

Hence, the King of the Elves, and then several other rules followed him with this new decree. Of course, monsters inside dungeons, that can usually spawn on their own over time, weren’t in the list.

“I did hunt a bit too many, maybeee…” Aquarina said. “But whatever, who cares about some ugly eels that fly anyway, right?”

“A lot of people care, so don’t do it again,” said her father. “Also I would recommend selling some of their meat and not keep it all for you. I bet the people of the village enjoy the flavor and would love to eat some.”

“Ugh, I’ll think about it!” Aquarina said. “Anyways, did you check Khepri’s golem thing? What is it exactly?”

“Ah yeah, we’ve analyzed it a bit,” said her father, nodding.

“I’m not too good with analyzing these kinds of things, but it was made of metal alright,” said Nepheline. “I can at least tell you it’s full of magic and divine circuits, wires, and other specially crafted materials using steel and iron, which are used to keep that thing alive and running.”

“I believe it’s a robot,” said Shade. “Probably one of a very advanced model, perhaps not too old, a recent one… Which is amazing.”

“A recent model of robots?” wondered Aquarina. “So they’re like golems but better?”

“I guess you could put it that way, yes,” nodded Shade. “You can call them golems, but the gods always refer to them as robots. They’re similar to the Robotians that you rescued from underground, remember them?”

“Oh yeah!” Aquarina nodded, munching on some big piece of meat, her long white hair was tied into a long ponytail, giving her a pretty and mature look. “So you’re like that Khepri?”

“A-Ah! I’m not a robot!” Khepri complained. “I am a High Spirit!”

“We assume that the robots, her ornaments as she call them, are powered up by her spiritual power… And also the Mana of her master,” said Shade. “So she always needed a master to finally use their powers.”

“Oh, so that’s how it is…” Silvia nodded. “So without me you would’ve never been able to use the ornaments?”

“A-Ah, I guess not…” said Khepri, feeling a bit embarrassed. “So thanks for being there for me, Silvia, really appreciate it!”

“Heheh, no problem, we’re friends!” Silvia smiled.

Shade and Nepheline were still a bit suspicious of Khepri, and Aquarina deep down was also a bit wary of her. But no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t detect malice or bad intentions from her.

Aquarina was born with the ability to “feel” the intentions of people since she was a little baby, this was an innate ability derived from her incredibly acute senses born from the merge of her Darkage Bloodline and her Amazonian Bloodline.

It has never manifested as a skill though, but it still works just like it did back then… The reason Aquarina sometimes trust people easily and acts friendly out of nowhere and other times is suspicious and distant is because she can feel these intentions, and sometimes even emotions.

And maybe… It’s also why she loves being with Sylphy, she’s an honest to heart girl. Usually what you see of her upfront is also what she is deep down, her emotions are always positive, and whenever she’s sad, Aquarina runs to help her recover, which is actually rare!

She’s always thinking positively, trying to get better, to grow as a person, and these emotions she exudes make Aquarina always feel good and happy by her side.

Well, this was only one of the many factors, actually.

“Anyways, Justicio, come here tomorrow morning for your physique and beast aura ritual,” said Aquarina. “Bring me all the materials.”

“Ah, sure!” nodded Justicio. “Thank you Aquarina!”

“It’s fine,” she smiled.

“Huh, are you sure you can handle a ritual like that?” her mother wondered. “I can do it for you too, dear.”

“Nah I’m fine, I’ll do it myself mom,” said Aquarina. “I have to show you that I can do things myself and that I don’t need your babysitting all the time…”

“Babysitting… seriously,” Nepheline groaned angrily, much like her daughter did. “I’m just being nice because you’re my daughter! Why wouldn’t I help you all I want?”

“Well, well, calm down, Nepheline,” said Shade. “Let the girl be, she just wants to be more reliable for her friends. Relying on us for everything won’t sit well with her, she got your pride after all.”

“Hmmm…” Nepheline groaned grumpily, but calmed down after her husband’s sweet word, he was a natural charmer. “Fineee… We’ll see how that goes though! Huh… if you screw things over, I’ll help the brat of Justicio myself! Did you hear me?!”

“Loud and clear mom…” Aquarina rolled her eyes.
