Reincarnated With The Van Helsing System
Chapter 640 - 640: A king’s role (part 3)And it was for a good reason, the sword girl might be tame and bubbly when it comes to Daimon, but Narasha is quite wild when it comes to fighting, she is an entity that was born out of Disaster which was created to be the ultimate magic weapon after all, so she should have had a warmongering personality.
However, Disaster was an unstable monstrous unique magic sword from the very moment of its creation, it was too much for the newly born Narasha to control, it also didn’t help that the bastards that created the material used for Disaster used some really dark processes.
And then the blacksmith who stole said material, also did who knows what in order to create the “ultimate” magic weapon, unfortunately or not depending on how you view it, all of it remains unknown up to this day.
Since by the time the Half Emperors arrived to suppress Disaster, anyone who was related to its creation was already dead and the planets which they used as their bases were utterly destroyed by the sword which had gone on a rampage.
Despite all the previous, with Daimon helping Narasha reigning Disaster, the only time when the sword girl exhibits such a primal fierceness is when fighting other magic weapons.
But it’s for a much healthier reason, as clueless in some emotional aspects as Narasha can be, as Daimon’s battle partner she really doesn’t want to be outshined by any other weapon, especially swords, it’s a strange kind of jealousy that Daimon can’t help but find cute.
In fact, the only reason as to why she didn’t show any negative reaction towards the magic guns he used at the academy, or the broken Crossbow that belonged to Freya’s user, is because they were long range weapons.
Hence why she showed hostility towards the Trident of the Storm, wanting to destroy it, luckily Daimon gave her Adam’s Sword to crush, so the Trident managed to stay in one piece and the sword girl was happy again.
Anyway, the point is that Narasha used to believe that being Daimon’s battle partner was all about fighting skills, she reduced and increased Disaster’s weight to adapt to Daimon’s swordsmanship, shared the load of unleashing energy attacks and controlled Disaster/Gram to protect Daimon or cut down enemies depending on what was needed.
However, precisely after getting to know about Promise level magic treasures, which grow alongside their owner, her perspective took a 180° turn, instead of only fighting-related stuff, can’t she support Daimon in every aspect, like those treasures do, she is his battle partner after all.
Unfortunately, everything she knew was related to fighting so she was a bit lost on how to proceed, but after seeing Jasmine’s enhancing spells, she found the answer to her predicament and the result was the completely white dazzling layer of light covering Gram as of current.
Daimon who was originally going to use “White Heavenly Javelin” to deal with the fist martial art while using Gram to clash with the enemy’s sword, instead changed his stance.
Normally even in Gram form which is that of a great sword, Daimon only uses one hand to wield his sword, the only times when he uses both hands, is when he uses Comet Sword, because it requires him to use all his strength in order to pull that technique off.
And yet, he now placed his left hand on Gram’s hilt, which caused a reaction on Gram, the dazzling layer of white light covering the whole sword changed from condensed light to a burning-like form.
“So that’s how it is… it seems like Nasha is also a genius”, mumbled Daimon which made a certain sword girl residing inside Gram giggle as she beckoned at the same time as Daimon slashed Gram sidewards.
Both attacks from the captain clashed against the light burning sword, causing a fierce gust of wind to travel all the way from the sky to the ground, followed by a huge shockwave.
“Booooom!”, the sound actually delayed since the impact had surpassed that barrier by quite a bit, then a blinding white light explosion of mana clashed against a darkness battle aura wave, turning into a half black and half white sphere that engulfed both participants.
However, unlike before the two sides that tried to devour the other, didn’t remain on each of their original sides, in fact they actually “mixed” turning light gray, before the energy sphere exploded.
“Crack!”, under the eyes of disbelief of the other present nethereals, the side of the energy sphere that broke down apart first, what the one on the right where the captain was.
Speaking of which, said captain was sent flying out of the energy sphere, the layer of darkness covering his sword was gone and… there was a white colored crack on the blade of the sword, his sword was actually cut by the one of the enemy.
But that wasn’t all, the moment the rest of the energy sphere was dispelled, the image of the masked silver haired youth, whose sword was perfectly unscathed was also revealed, he was floating on the exact same spot as well.
In other words, the captain lost in both physical and energy clashes.
‘What the hell is that sword, my “Fallen” is heavy as a great sword, but that damn thing was like having a mountain falling on my blade!’, inwardly cursed the captain as he circulated battle aura through his hands to get rid of the numb sensation that had started to appear after the previous clash.
He wasn’t the only surprised one though, Daimon retrieved his left hand to then swing Gram a couple of times, just to be sure before reaching a conclusion.
‘It’s subtle but the weight has certainly increased quite a bit’, he thought to which Narasha happily said.
“Mm, I just managed to dissolve another patch of that blue stuff~’, in other words, the sword girl had gotten rid of a piece of the Antinite that was restraining Disaster, by herself and it was absorbed into the sword, which is what caused the increase in the real weight of Disaster.
There is a limit as to how much can Narasha lighten Disaster, so the fact that Daimon felt the sword becoming heavier, meant that the increase was large enough for Narasha to not be able to keep the sword at the usual weight of a around thirty tons to which Daimon is used.
After a second of contemplation, the captain who was looking for an explanation to what happened, had his eyes glow for a second as if a light had struck him out of the blue, before he scoffed.
“So that’s what that experiment gave you as a payment for siding with her, I guess that ultimately, she originates from the Lord so it’s normal that she knows about “Ancient Battle Armor”, however… how dares a lowly mortal scum like you to use the signature technique of the special corps!!!”, roared the captain with bloodshot eyes, only to hear Daimon’s ridiculing voice answer him.
“If you think that, just because my previous attack had power that surpassed that of a martial art without the need to use one, then you are much more of a frog in a well than what I expected”.
“What did you say!”, the captain who was already riled up after thinking that the power which was exclusive to the special corps of the Balax army and a few selected by the Balax Lord himself, like Erika for example.
Nearly lost it when the masked silver haired youth, denied that fact, in front of him, the one who is the most skilled in said technique after his Lord.
“Enough of this nonsense, Royal Reinforcement, Black Death Armor!”, the captain exploded in darkness battle aura which condensed into a dozen of black skeletons that then flew around the captain before enveloping him, turning into a black bone full body armor.
Which for a change made Daimon frown, because the energy firm coming from that armor wasn’t that of the Balax Lord, but the one from the Bane Lord, in other words the guy who used undead as subordinates.
“And you called Jasmine an “experiment”, having been artificially implanted more than one type of nether in exchange for having a short lifespan, how laughable”, casually said Daimon as he flashed towards the captain, who snorted in response.
“Of course she is an experiment, all the three of them are, after all they were simply created to be used and discarded, while I on the other hand don’t need to worry about my vessel deteriorating no matter what I do, the Lords simply grant me a new one when it is needed, I’m their master piece and proxy after all”, he said to then place his hand on his great sword.
The sword of the captain which somehow had repaired itself from the “wound” that Narasha left of it, had the trio of gems that previously enhanced it, go through a change, they gained a darker and much more sinister appearance.
“Royal Reinforcement, Black Death Blade!”, the great sword of the captain grew black bone skull decorations on the center of its blade, before that black substance covered the blade like before just in time for the captain to meet the light cladded sword.
“Clang!”, the sound of metals colliding echoed through the sky, the swords actually tied in terms of physical strength!
But while that was the case for the physical aspect, the white light cladding Gram started burning through the black substance covering the captain’s sword after the initial clash passed.
However, the black skulls on the center of the captain’s sword, suddenly opened their mouths to release an ominous black mist which produced sizzling sounds upon contact with the air.
‘Humph, disgusting’, said Narasha from within Gram, that black mist wasn’t darkness nether battle aura, it was like the mana charged with negative emotions that had stagnated at the bottom of the laboratory back at Draim.
‘Well, I guess it could be considered similar to nether since it is charged with negative emotions, though it’s not mana but… law based’, thought Daimon.
“Booom!”, the clash ended with both parties being forced backwards, very much to the displease of the captain who clicked his tongue at Daimon.
“Tsk”.
‘That damn experiment really did something annoying, light-based ancient battle armor is the only one I had never faced before, to think that just due to the suppressive effect of light on nether, it can withstand clashing with the death nether of the Bane Lord’, thought the captain.
Normally his own strength alone is enough to deal with the enemies that try to sneak into the castles of the Lords, but there have been indeed a couple of cases in which he had to use his ability as the proxy of the Lords to deal with someone before.
In fact, one of said cases were the pair of siblings that were used as materials to create Erika and that other guy, and Erika ended up being chosen as the queen piece of the Balax Lord so you can imagine the level that she was judged to have.
The captain gritted his teeth, the skulls on his armor opened their mouths and started releasing those ominous particles which where then absorbed by the captain’s legs.
“Battleground Death Silent Step”, he said as he vanished from plain sight to then appear behind of Daimon.
The captain extended his left arm and a giant arm made out of battle aura appeared next to him, however this time the originally humanoid looking arm of the Battle Avatar used by the captain, had a thinner complexion and its “bones” could be seen here and there as if it was decomposed, apparently the nether of the Bane Lord which he was using caused a change in his Battle Avatar.
Which is understandable, Daimon has seen the Domain of some of the Archmage’s that were converted into nethereals, change due to their mana changing to nether and of a different element to the one they used to have affinity with.
But this was a bit different, because instead of weakening, the Battle Avatar of the captain was exuding a stronger pressure, one that also reminded Daimon of the bone arm that tried to attack him when he was travelling through the dimensional tunnel that led to the second layer of Neptune.
“Battleground Death Grip!”, with a loud roar, the giant arm extended towards Daimon, while radiating those disgusting black particles which corroded even the air as it tried to grab Daimon to crush him to death.
In the meantime, the captain also slashed his sword at Daimon, it was a pincer attack, made it so that he had to take one while blocking the other.
“Trying to use a two-handed sword against me when you don’t have a battle avatar to act as your extension, such arrogance from a mere lowly mortal!”, shouted the captain, he used a great sword which required both of hands to be properly wielded, so he of course knew that by doing so, he had a slight disadvantage if he was attacked from different angles.
It was a reasonable price to pay in exchange for the extra strength that a two-handed sword gave to its user, and it was a problem that was solved when the captain became an Archknight anyway, so he disdained Daimon for changing to a two-handed stance, when he isn’t even an Arch rank and more importantly when he is a mage instead of a knight.
“White Heavenly Javelin”, listening to the words spoken by the masked silver haired youth, the captain smirked.
‘So, he is blocking my martial art and taking the bet to try and dodge my sword, a terrible idea, not like he had that much of a choice’, thought the captain only to be brought back to the real world by a familiar sound, the sound of metals colliding to be more accurate.
“Clang!”, naturally that sound was caused by Gram clashing against the great black sword wielded by the captain, but then an energy explosion coming from the opposite side followed.
“Boooom!”, the half-skeletal arm was forced sidewards due to a couple rays of white light that landed on it, destroying themselves but also the martial art on the spot.
“What!”, the captain who was taken aback, as both of his attacks were blocked turned to see the enemy, just to see that both of his hands were firmly holding onto his sword.
‘How…’, the train of thought of the captain stopped in cold as he saw the magic circles floating in front of his shoulders, only then he realized what happened.
‘No way, he can launch spells with other parts of the body as the medium!’, he screamed in his heart.
Mages aren’t knights, they have a tougher time using other parts of their bodies as the medium to lunch attack type spells, normally they focus on the hands for that, because it’s the simplest and easiest method.
This was the first time the captain saw someone using the magic circuits on his shoulders, to launch attack type spells, not to mention that he could still divide his attention towards his sword to block his attack.
“Damn it, Battleground Death Suppression!”, with a loud shout, a second half-skeletal battle aura avatar’s arm appeared, this time to the right of the captain’s body, then the two of them aimed at Daimon one from above and the other one from below.
The idea was to catch Daimon in between, while the captain flashed at him with his sword aiming at the enemy’s chest, if two simultaneous attacks weren’t enough to corner the masked youth, then he’ll use three.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t the only one that thought that way and while he couldn’t see it, Daimon’s bad habit had shown itself again, he was smirking behind of his mask.
“White Heavenly Javelin”, under the disbelief of the captain, both of his battle avatar’s arms were smacked away, this time by a total of four rays of white light, before that light cladded sword blocked his great sword on the spot.
“Poor frog, the fact that you can’t do something doesn’t mean others can’t as well, White Heavenly Javelin”, said Daimon.
With the four ongoing rays of light that were defending against the captain’s martial, two of which were shot from magic circles that appeared in front of Daimon’s shoulders, while the other two were shot from magic circles at the height of his chest, another two magic circles appeared, this time at Daimon’s sides to then release another pair of rays of white light.
“Aghhh!”, needless to say but the captain was taken by surprise, resulting in both attacks landing on his stomach, they were blocked by the black bone armor, but he was still violently flown away on the spot.
What a joke, “White Heavenly Javelin” is a technique in which Daimon can use three out of the components of his Demon Light, namely lightning, metal and light elements.
Hence why those rays of white light had such a strong physical impact akin to metal, the piercing power of the lightning element and in suppressing effect of light over darkness, resulting in those rays being strong enough to smack the arms of a battle avatar which are being used alongside a martial art, away.
“Piss off already!”, after being forced backwards a couple of hundreds of meters, the captain used his great sword to slash the white rays of light which had lost strength, destroying them on the spot, only to see the though thin, really deep holes that were torn on his black bone armor.
‘That bastard can launch attacks from six places at the same time, if those things would have landed directly on me, then…’, just imagining the new holes that would decorate his body if the masked youth would have pointed all those attacks at the same spot, which he was sure would have ripped holes into his armor, the captain felt his chest being filled with anger.
“Booooom!”, the captain’s body exploded in battle aura, the head of his battle avatar slowly took form behind of him, it resembled the captain and had its eyes closed, for a good reason, before advancing past this point, the captain’s head was covered in a helmet, that only left his eyes visible.
“Royal Reinforcement, Erosion Helmet!”, the pupils of the captain which were originally dark brown colored, turned dark pink, and then the head of his battle avatar opened its eyes to show pupils of the same tone.
“So, it’s the Asmadian Lord’s nether this time, I’m curious as to why you didn’t jump right away to your beloved Balax Lord’s power, perhaps you have to follow a specific order since you are a failed product”, mockingly said Daimon, which made the captain see red.
Quite literally, since the eyes of his battle avatar got bloodshot out of nowhere, making the guards who were protecting the non-combatants, look downwards as if they were afraid of even being in the range of view of those eyes.
“Battleground Mind Cage!”, the eyes of the captain’s battle avatar released invisible waves of dark pink nether, which covered everything within the vicinity, the very moment those waves reached Daimon, the captain directly made the arms of his battle avatar pounce on him.
“Get squashed to death you bastar…”, the words of the captain stuck in his throat as he saw the masked silver haired youth casually dodge the hands of his battle avatar.
The captain couldn’t see it but, right now there was a white sword mark glowing on Daimon’s forehead, hidden behind his mask.
