Chapter 1010: Substitute Fighter
"Haha, look at my junior being left in a daze." Alfred laughed heartily.
He rose from his seat and stepped toward Xu Feng. He then gave a wink and whispered, "I’ve bragged to them about you having the highest potential. These folks didn’t believe me, especially when they saw Zhao Kai’s elusive technique."
"..."
Speechless, Xu Feng nearly wanted to curse at Alfred for having a loud mouth.
Was there really a need to constantly brag to your fellow folks?
No, it was fine to brag, but why did he feel the need to drag his name into the conversation?
Just Zhao Kai’s name alone was enough to create a ripple effect.
’That home invasion incident created a bigger impact than I initially thought.’ Xu Feng instantly knew the cause of Alfred’s confidence stemmed from that particular incident. After all, he managed to defend and single-handedly deflect the invaders from harming Allison despite being caught off-guard.
Being stared at by many elderly, Xu Feng was left in a dilemma. His mindset currently was to rest and more rest. Yet fate seemed to love toying with his life.
Back then, he wanted to establish more networks but couldn’t achieve it. And now that he just wanted to lay in bed to recover, these people suddenly all hoped to meet with him.
"Are you alright, Feng?" Noticing his unusualness, Allison whispered softly. "You were late today as well and now you seem uninterested in the interaction."
Although she barely interacted much with Xu Feng, she could sense he was the overachiever type. For this particular type, they would definitely laugh and be extremely active to know everyone in this room.
"Yeah, I’m not feeling quite well." Xu Feng admitted. He simply wished to return home now and get a good long rest.
The only reason he remained for so long was to watch Zhao Kai advance safely to the next match. It was to cheer and support the latter.
Who could have imagined a troublemaker like Jackie to show up and cause more trouble?
Seeing him confirming the news, Allison smiled softly.
Suddenly, her face winced in pain. "Ugh, my tummy."
Her sudden outburst caught everyone in the room by surprise.
"What’s wrong, niece?" Alarmed, Alfred was the first to react.
In response, Allison held onto Xu Feng’s arms and said weakly, "I don’t know. My stomach suddenly feels some pain. I think I’ll need Feng to accompany me to the hospital."
Not suspecting anything, Alfred swiftly said, "Then let’s go to the hospital quickly."
"No, the other elders are here. You need to stay or else it would be inappropriate. I can have Feng escort me. I’ll be fine." Allison shook her head and insisted.
Alfred wasn’t wholeheartedly convinced. This was his niece in pain after all.
How could he just stay behind and let others handle the matter?
But thankfully, Allison’s stubbornness was well-known and her repeated insistence finally made Alfred give up. To argue and delay the matter was more troubling than insisting to follow along.
"Feng, you brought your car over, right?" Allison turned to him and said.
"Yes, it’s in the exclusive parking lot." Xu Feng responded and appeared to be in a rush. Needless to say, he knew that she was acting and wasn’t really in pain. Otherwise, he might have panicked harder than Alfred.
Just like that, the two exited the room without anyone suspecting anything.
After all, they would have never imagined Allison would fake her pain to assist Xu Feng in escaping.
Sometime later, Xu Feng and Allison heaved a sigh of relief when they noticed no one was following behind them.
"Phew, wasn’t my acting great?" Allison giggled and felt like she had become a little girl again.
"It was near flawless." He complimented. Truth be told, he would have been fooled as well if it wasn’t for their conversation.
"Alright, let’s head to the parking lot first and get you home. I can tell you’re not feeling very well." She quickly suggested.
Shortly after, they boarded Xu Feng’s car at the exclusive parking lot.
Upon entering, Vera swiftly scanned Xu Feng’s condition. But when Vera detected another person in the car, it didn’t bother to report the information.
After all, Xu Feng had previously commanded it to withhold information if there was another passenger in the car. He had no intention of accidentally revealing his private information or condition to others, especially those close to him.
There was no need to make someone else worry alongside him.
"What’s the destination, Master?" Vera inquired.
"Home," he replied.
As the car then started, Allison’s expression finally turned serious.
"Alright, care to tell me what’s wrong with your health? Is it the residue from the home invasion?" She questioned.
"I’ve asked my uncle about the energy force and its effect on others if injected. So don’t bother brushing it off as nothing."
Hearing that, Xu Feng realized she must have researched it after the incident. It was just that he had always been elusive, prompting her to be unable to question or inquire about his condition.
As for helping him escape the meeting room, it was another one of her deliberate schemes to be alone with him.
"How can a professor be this shrewd?" He furrowed his brows and said.
"You’re my former student and not my current student. Why would I be honorable to you?" In response, Allison flashed a smug smile.
Without a choice, Xu Feng decided to come clean.
"The Energy Force from the invaders did leave an effect, but they have long dissipated." He explained.
"But uncle said it would leave some long-term damage or effect on people." She argued and was seemingly dismissive of his explanation.
"Yes, but that is only true for those who have never practiced Energy Force before." After saying that, Xu Feng opened his palm and circulated some powerful energy force.
With the presence of the energy force, Allison’s eyes widened in disbelief. It wasn’t that she was shocked about how he was able to conjure it, but rather the profoundness of his energy force had increased.
’No wonder Uncle wants him to be the substitute fighter.’
