SORCERER: I WANT TO BE AN ACADEMIC PRODIGY

Chapter 544 03-25 - 542: Plotting Against Blackbeard's World

Chapter 544: Chapter 542: Plotting Against Blackbeard’s World

“The message was erroneous, and we failed to trace the Spiritual Body.”

Hardy directly stated the results of their mission.

Several months ago, Philomena led the Venton family to the Chanay Continent in search of the transformed Spiritual Body of the King of Green Thunder. They had tirelessly explored far and wide, yet every attempt ended in vain.

This time, they felt quite confident about their chances and had even specially requested the assistance of President Hardy. However, the outcome was still fruitless.

The failure in the most promising location greatly disheartened Philomena.

The inefficiency was partly due to an intrinsic factor: sorcerers conducted very limited research on Spiritual Bodies and lacked some key methods.

“Whatever you suggest, we will follow your command,” Philomena immediately stated.

“Sorcerer Ivan says the same,” Ivan echoed.

The two were not too lazy to think; it was rather because they had been instructed from above to seek guidance from the Great Sage Hardy. When given such orders, why should they wrack their brains unnecessarily?

Seeing their languid attitude, President Hardy chuckled and playfully gestured at them, especially toward Ivan.

“The one who knows the Spiritual Body best is naturally the Spiritual Body itself. Sorcerer Ivan, are you certain that your Body Double is still alive?” He asked solemnly, knowing the gravity of the matter and not dwelling too much on it.

“Alive and well,” Ivan nodded earnestly.

After becoming an Arcane Wizard, his vision had broadened, and he had gained a deeper insight into the “Nether Soul Mirror” text, as well as a more profound understanding of the “One Body Three Manifestations” Secret Technique.

Through some connection between his true self and the Secret Method Body Double, he could confirm that Locke was still alive.

“Good, then let’s make another foray into that small world. You can still find it, can’t you?” Hardy decided immediately.

“Of course,” Ivan replied without hesitation.

Four Arcane Wizards joined forces for the task, a much stronger contingent than before. Ivan was confident that they could overcome that dragon-shaped black worm, or at the very least, certainly rescue Locke.

Without a doubt, this was far better than going in to rescue him alone.

This time, Philomena raised no objections and proactively took on many responsibilities.

Time flowed like water, and soon ten days had passed.

In a mountain valley far from the East Capital, thanks to the efforts of Ivan and the others, the entire valley had transformed into a prison laid with the Heaven and Earth Net.

At the center of the valley stood an altar, now covered with dense runes.

Any highly skilled Enchantment would surely recognize that this was an array dais specially designed to pry open other-dimensional planes, bearing many similarities to the Star Realm portals.

“Activate!”

Though Ivan had contributed significantly to the valley’s setup, at this moment, President Hardy stepped forward to take charge of the operation and activation of the array dais, with Ivan assisting from the sidelines.

After the activation of the array dais, a jet-black light burst forth, shooting skyward only to stop abruptly in a bizarre halt.

In reality, the power of the array dais had pierced through the void.

Crackling sounds continued to echo, resembling something being torn and shattered, until a louder rumbling drowned out the other noises.

There was now a pitch-black void hole atop the array dais, emanating an aura that was unsettling to the heart.

“It’s done.”

Compared to the spatial portal summoned by the bearded lord, the void hole before them was evidently much deeper and somewhat unstable, yet it was a tangible spatial passageway.

“I shall go ahead,” Ivan now spoke with determination.

He didn’t say much, casually summoning a strangely shaped beast and using it as a pawn, while he himself followed, flying into the newly opened void hole.

It was evident that this beast was related to the lineage of Lord Blackbeard. In fact, it was a puppet creature nurtured by Sorcerer Ivan from a beast egg captured from the depths of the Black God Abyss, originally prepared by Lord Blackbeard as a body double for himself.

After several twists and turns, it had finally hatched.

Unfortunately, during the battle at that time, the beast egg was severely damaged, its potential greatly reduced. Now it wasn’t of much consequence, but due to its uniqueness, Ivan had chosen it as a pawn.

Fioki hurried after him, followed by Hardy, while only Philomena stayed behind, taking over the place vacated by Hardy.

After a short, cramped, and crowded journey, Ivan’s view opened to a bright daylight, where he saw the ridge in the distance and atop it, the Blood-colored Battle Banner.

Once again, he had arrived in this small world, not dragged there by someone else this time.

“Boss, oh boss, you’ve finally come—look, I’m over here!”

Sitting under the Blood-colored Battle Banner was a figure who appeared utterly bored. Sensing some activity on the other side, he blinked repeatedly, and when he was sure he wasn’t mistaken, couldn’t help but be moved to tears.

After such a long wait, his own sorcerer had finally come to rescue him. He knew the other would come, but it had been such a long time.

The man was none other than Locke, still looking lively and bouncy.

“Yo, long time no see.”

Seeing is believing, and Ivan let out a sigh of relief.

Not far behind him, Fioki and Hardy appeared one after the other, their eyes solemnly fixed on the location of the Blood-colored Battle Banner, unaffected by the joy of reunion.

The situation was naturally not as simple as it first appeared.

Behind Locke’s body was something resembling a black rope, one end already embedded within him, and Locke seemed unaware of it. This meant that the words he was speaking might not be of his own volition.

“Ivan, make a plan.”

Hardy turned to him and said, trusting that Ivan had good judgment.

“I’ll go and meet with that thing; you two hold the formation for me.”

Ivan clearly indicated his intention, seeing that the Blood-colored Battle Banner had not yet burst into action, paired with the hot crimson mark on his arm—a clear sign of an extraordinary situation, perhaps the other side was just waiting for him to go over.

Might as well go for it.

“Are you sure?” Hardy frowned slightly.

“Positive,” Ivan nodded firmly.

Once Hardy confirmed a third time that Ivan hadn’t lost his mind, he no longer resisted this arrangement.

After making their decision, the three of them started walking briskly towards the transverse ridge at the back of the small world. The closer they got to the ridge, the more they could feel its unique heavy atmosphere.

It seemed as though the Blood-colored Battle Banner sensed their arrival and began to wave faster, rustling in the wind.

Ivan gestured to the others, and Hardy and Fioki involuntarily stopped moving forward, while he continued to briskly climb towards the ridge.

“Boss, you finally made it. You don’t know how boring it’s been here, not a soul around, just me finding ways to entertain myself to pass the time. And so, one day went by, then another—”

As Ivan approached, Locke became even more animated, starting to recount the times he had had, which were truly hard to describe in just a few words.

Ivan listened without interrupting his rambling.

“Don’t come any closer!”

“Boss, hurry, there’s a trick here, Old Wormy is no good, don’t worry about me—”

Suddenly, Locke’s expression changed dramatically, and he began yelling at Ivan to leave, his desperate state apparent to anyone.

But Ivan didn’t slow down. His feet had already touched upon the ridge, and he proceeded determinately upwards.
