“Where is he now?” Monkey King whispered to Jul’Taras.
Jul’Taras fiddled on the Void Communicator which Jessica Sands had passed to her before she entered her daily seclusion to work on her Ascendant Runes, and tried her best to get it to work properly.
“This stupid communicator is so difficult to use.” Jul’Taras grumbled. “I am a certified geek in all things technology, and even I can’t seem to get this blasted thing to obey my instructions. It’s no wonder we haven’t heard anything from Elliot. He probably has no idea how to use this blasted communicator!”
Monkey King smiled at Jul’Taras. She looked pretty cute while complaining about something she clearly dearly loved to bits.
As a self-proclaimed certified geek, she had placed herself in charge of operating the Void Communicator and was immediately mesmerized by the awesomeness of the gadget. Jessica Sands had explained to her how everything worked once through, and then left it to her to fiddle with it.
And fiddle with it, she did. The modifications Jessica Sands had made to the Void Communicator was startling, to say the least.
For one thing, it was completely undetectable. Not a single iota of energy could be detected from it even when the full blown holographic three-way communication was engaged.
And for another, it had no range limitations on its instantaneous communication system.
Finally, it could trace other Void Communicators while remaining completely untraceable by any other device.
It’s a stupidly broken device that would definitely revolutionize how the entire known universe communicates should it be made public. Not to say make Jessica Sands the richest being in the whole universe!
But at that moment, it was their very important secret which would allow them to communicate with Elliot securely and secretly, so they were very happy to keep it that way.
The only thing was…
“Damn this stupid device! Why isn’t it working again? It’s just a communication device, why does it have to be so stuck up and make itself so difficult to operate?! What an arrogant piece of junk!” Jul’Taras complained loudly.
“I think you need to first calibrate it with your brain waves first by pressing this button here.” Monkey King said mildly and helped her press it.
“Calibrate? It is calibrated! I was the last one to use it ear… Aunt Hills.” Jul’Taras whirled around to look at Aunt Hillary accusingly. “Did you use it secretly again without my permission when I went to the toilet earlier?”
“I did? Hahaha I don’t remember! Ah! Speaking of toilet, I need to go to the toilet. Hahaha!” Aunt Hills laughed sheepishly and quickly left the room.
“Grrrr. No wonder this infernal device is acting up again. Let’s see, calibrate… and voila! It’s on! Elliot’s coordinates…” Jul’Taras inputted his coordinates into their video interface and immediately, their screen moved to show the location of Elliot’s coordinates.
“Huh? This… isn’t this…” Jul’Taras said in a worried voice.
“Ancient interference.” Monkey King said grimly as he looked at the white screen.
Ancients, like most powerful beings, were able to use their power to create a barrier of sorts to prevent spying from video cameras.
However, unlike others, they are able to do it without having to create a physical barrier. They are able to interfere with video feeds simply by the strength of their auras!
And that video interference usually shows as a white screen on the viewer’s point of view.
“You know it too?” Jul’Taras looked at Monkey King in slight surprise.
“I do.” He glanced at Jul’Taras and then causally revealed his clan’s secret in a show of affection and trust for her. “There is an Ancient level powerhouse in our clan. He is extremely old and barely at that level, but ultimately, he is.”
“Hmmmmm.” Jul’Taras’ heart warmed at Monkey King’s words and she gave him a beautiful smile.
The information, though new and quite startling, was not important at all for her. The most important thing was how easily Monkey King revealed it to her.
It meant that he had considered her as one of his own, and for Jul’Taras, it was very, very sweet. Much sweeter than anything she had ever felt before in her life.
“Hey guys, I am so sick and tired of making Chilly Pancakes, I need some air! What’s up? Whoaa… what’s with the romantic lovey dovey look?” Jessica Sands said with a laugh as she appeared in a swirl of space energy and got hammered immediately with Monkey King’s and Jul’Taras’ loving looks at each other.
Her seclusion was actually in a separate dimension which only she could access from anywhere, thus she could appear and disappear whenever and wherever she liked.
“Hey Jess.” Jul’Taras said without turning her head.
“Hey Jess.” Monkey King copied Jul’Taras’ words and tone perfectly without turning around as well, immediately causing Jul’Taras to giggle cutely.
Jessica Sands rolled her eyes and looked away from the scene. She turned to look at the screen.
“Huh? White screen… Isn’t that… Ancient interference? Elliot is facing an Ancient??” Jessica Sands asked in shock.
“Give me the Void Communicator!” Jessica Sands said urgently and grabbed the device from Jul’Taras hands who had a very reluctant look on her face.
But she didn’t say anything because Jessica Sands would probably work her magic with it.
And indeed, she made some magic.
With just a few buttons and a generous dose of her Void Energy, the device began to glow brightly.
“He… He had been in that location for ten minutes! This is bad. I am going to activate spy mode!” Jessica Sands said.
“Spy… mode? What’s that?” Jul’Taras asked uneasily.
“It’s a mode that can show us what’s happening with the wearer of Void Communicators holographically.” Jessica Sands said.
“What?” That device can do that? Does Elliot know and agree to having such a function attached to his Void Communicator?” Jul’Taras asked in surprise.
