The praying mantis unleashed a sinister smile as he watched blood begin to leak out from the side of Kuro’s mouth and it opened its mouth wide and closed it hard around Kuro’s neck! A sickening crunch echoed through the clearing as Kuro felt something break in his throat! Praying mantises had some of the strongest necks in the insect world, and when that power is scaled upwards to the size of a human and then given the power of an Eldritch-class anima, it is more than capable of tearing through the skin and cracking the bone of an ELITE Rank I!

Kuro could feel the light fading from the edge of his vision, but there was a part of Kuro that felt a deep-seated hatred for this monster! It was this small part of him that gave him enough strength to grab his sword out from his scabbard with a sharp rasp, and he raised it into the air and stabbed down on the head of the mantis, digging deep into its eye and spearing its brain!

SCREEEECHHH!!

The mantis cried out in pain as it was forced to let go of Kuro, and Kuro’s body fell to the ground lifelessly as he felt his blood leaking to the ground!

It was in this state, with Kuro lying in a pool of his own blood and the large praying mantis trying desperately to pull the sword out from its eye with its two blade-like claws, that Megumi arrived on the scene!

For a good long second, Megumi couldn’t even think. The sight that she arrived at was just too strange to her, and it was like her entire brain had shut down on itself from the shock of it! But then, at the next moment, Megumi felt something like a scream threatening to tear itself out of her throat! In a situation like this, it was only normal for someone to grieve! They would want to shout and rage in anger while crying over the body of their loved one. But Megumi could not do that. The agonizing emotionlessness pushed the feeling down, forcing Megumi’s grief and anger to stack over one another.

Megumi walked over to her brother and fell to her knees beside his lifeless body. She put a hand over his face as she tried to feel something! She knew she wanted to feel something, but the feeling just wouldn’t come up! It was like trying to grasp at straws and failing over and over again! This continued for a few seconds, and it wasn’t long before Megumi lost her mind!

BOOOMMM!!

Megumi’s mana blew out from her body in a relentless wave that tore through everything around her, and for the first time in years, Megumi cried.

[With Arit and Tina]

Rumble~! Rumble~! Rumble~!

Arit latched onto a tree at the side as she felt the entire island shaking under her feet! There was a mass of mana rising into the air in the distance and Arit narrowed her eyes curiously as she wondered who that could be. The mana didn’t feel like it belonged to Mark, so Arit knew that it must be another one of the more powerful people in the tournament. Were they the ones causing the rumbling?

“Where are you looking, fool!?”

A loud voice suddenly shouted from behind Arit as a large anima-human hybrid jumped at her from the side, but Arit didn’t even need to move out of the way! She put her hand out to the side and caught the large anima by the neck before slamming them into the tree that she had been leaning on, breaking the tree to pieces and sending it tumbling to the ground! The anima was one of the Russians that had run away.

Arit and Tina had tracked them down to this area after a few minutes and all four of them had transformed into large anima-human hybrids. Three of them stopped to confront Arit and Tina, and the fourth one ran away to go somewhere. Arit had already killed one of them who stopped to confront her, and Tina was dealing with the second one. This was the third one, and Arit was growing irritated by the fact that the anima was just darting around pointlessly!

The anima groaned as it tried to get on its feet and put some distance between Arit and it, but before it could go anywhere, it shouted in pain as it felt Arit stab her hand into its chest! The anima looked up at Arit in fear as Arit quickly knelt down on one of its hands and grabbed its face!

Arit was already close to becoming a PHANTASMAL Rank I, while this beast was only a low-level Eldritch rank anima. There was no way the monster would be able to move once Arit had it in her grip! The anima felt Arit slowly sucking the mana out of it, and it screamed and tried to use its other hand to punch Arit in the face!

Click!

BOOM!

The sound of a gun suddenly echoed from somewhere far away and the monster felt its arm explode in blood and gore as it was impaled by an explosive round! Arit looked up for a moment and her eyes met the one eye of Alpha Six. There was blood all over Arit’s face, and Arit knew for a fact that Alpha Six had shot that bullet the way she did just to make sure that Arit was covered with blood. Stupid bitch!

On the other side of the clearing, Alpha Six felt a small smile tug at the edge of her lips as she saw the annoyed expression on Arit’s face, but her face suddenly changed back to a look of irritation when she saw Arit glare at her before turning away to continue taking the mana out from the Eldritch class. This bitch was ignoring her.

Alpha Six hated everything about Arit, and the fact that the only thing she could do to Arit now was petty acts of revenge like this only served to fuel that anger even more.

‘Just one bullet. If I just fired one bullet from here and killed her, I could claim that it was an accident.’

Alpha Six thought this as her scope zeroed in on Arit from a distance. If Alpha Six fired a single bullet now, then there was no way anyone would be able to tell her that she did something wrong. She could just claim that she wanted to shoot the monster, and Arit’s head was in the way. It’s not like there was anyone here to tell her that she was lying!

But Alpha Six stopped herself before she could do something like that. Not only was it a bad idea, but it would also end up with her getting killed. Arit had already proven before that she was more than capable of dodging Alpha Six’s bullets. Alpha Six still remembered how effortlessly Arit was able to dodge her bullet a few months ago. That memory was the beginning of all of Alpha Six’s troubles. If she had gotten that shot then, she wouldn’t have had to lose her eye.

But killing Arit was also an issue because of Mark. Alpha Six didn’t know if Mark was the sort of person to seek revenge no matter what, and she didn’t really want to find out.
