"Thank you, Merric," Ethan replied. "And sorry for always troubling you.

"Young Master, don’t be like that." Merric smiled. "All of us are very happy to be of service to you. Also, it will be an honor to escort Lady Illumina back to her Kingdom, as well as Princess Ariel.

"Young Master, if you like, we can also escort them back to the academy. We’re willing to wait for them to finish their mission, no matter how long it takes."

Ethan felt touched, reminded by how Merric and the other members of the Protector Clans always went above and beyond their duties in order to ensure that he would not have to worry about anything.

"Earlier, I didn’t feel too well," Nicole replied. "But I feel better now."

Nicole then moved closer to wrap her arms around Ethan’s body, giving him a hug.

"I missed you, Mr. Ghost," Nicole whispered.

Ethan hugged her back and lightly patted her head, like how he did when Nicole was still young.

The young man walked toward the closest tree and activated his portable tree house before opening its door to enter alongside Nicole.

Once they were away from the eyes and ears of the Catkins, the two once again hugged each other, making the coldness in Nicole’s heart slowly melt away.

They didn’t know how long they stood in place while hugging each other. However, when Nicole no longer felt cold, she took the initiative to kiss Ethan’s cheek before reluctantly taking a step back.

"I want to talk to you about something important," Nicole said before dragging Ethan to the couch, so they could sit while they had a discussion.

Once the two of them were properly seated, Nicole finally told him the reason she had come to see him.

"Can you accompany me to the Asta Family’s Residence?" Nicole asked.

"When?" Ethan asked.

He didn’t ask why Nicole wanted to return to the place that made her suffer many hardships during her childhood.

The young man knew that she wouldn’t have asked him to accompany her if the reason for returning to the Asta Residence wasn’t important.

"This weekend," Nicole replied. "But according to my estimate, we will need a week to travel to our destination and return to the academy. I just don’t know if the Headmaster will allow us to leave since we have less than seven weeks before the Final Exams.

"Also, the school term officially ends a week after that, so I’m not sure if we can get permission from the Headmaster."

Ethan looked straight into Nicole’s eyes, and gave her hand a light squeeze.

The young man knew that if going to the Asta Residence right now wasn’t important, Nicole would have simply waited until the School Year was over before returning home.

But since she asked for Ethan’s help, this meant that she needed someone to support her as she faced the Family who had made her younger years extremely difficult.

"I will get permission from the Headmaster," Ethan stated. "I’m sure as long as we are able to pass the Final Exams when we return, things are going to be fine."

"If you are the one to ask, I believe that the Headmaster will agree." Nicole smirked. "But what excuse are you going to use to get permission?"

"What else?" Ethan smirked back. "I’m just going to tell the Professor that you need to return to the Asta Residence as soon as possible to settle some loose ends. The reason for me to accompany you is because I don’t trust your family. Don’t you think that’s enough of an excuse?"

"I’m not sure if that will be enough, but I don’t think that Professor Rinehart will oppose it either," Nicole replied.

"Then it’s settled then. We will leave on Friday after class ends."

"That Mr. Ghost is definitely an amazing perso—errr, ghost." Ethan coughed lightly. "For him to raise you into such a fine young lady, I’m sure he had his fair share of hardships."

"Yeah, he suffered hardships to groom the little girl to become his ideal lady, right?" Nicole asked in a teasing tone.

"Stop slandering Mr. Ghost," Ethan replied.

"I’m not slandering him." Nicole shook her head. "I just wished that he’d agreed to go with me to raid a morgue and find a handsome young man for him to possess. That way, we could have eloped and lived happily ever after."

The corner of Ethan’s lips twitched because if that really happened, things would have become extremely complicated afterwards.

"I’m just glad that you’re back," Ethan said in order to change the topic. "I was really worried."

"I’m glad to be back as well," Nicole replied. "Also, thank you for worrying about me."

The two of them stared at each other for nearly a minute before the two of them moved their heads closer to each other at the same time.

Baradiel, who could see everything from Nicole’s Sea of Consciousness, looked at the two teenagers who were sharing a long and sweet kiss with each other.

This sight made her even more determined to talk to Nicole and ask her for a favor.

She didn’t know if the young lady would agree to it or not, but regardless of her answer, she would respect it.

Ashmedai made the proposal, and Lady Hecate advised her that she would have nothing to lose if she agreed to it.
