TALENT AWAKENING: DRACONIC OVERLORD OF THE APOCALYPSE
Chapter 398 398: Encounter Part TwoThe moment the golden aura gleamed down from above, the atmosphere shifted. Viktor and Celia froze, their eyes widening as they instantly recognized the figure floating effortlessly before them.
It was none other than Galisk, the Union President.
Viktor quickly straightened, his hand snapping to a crisp salute as he yelled, “U-Union President Galisk, sir!”
Celia did the same, her eyes narrowing in respect but still clearly stunned by his sudden appearance.
Alister and his team were completely taken off guard.
Beatrice’s mouth hung slightly open as she stared, unable to comprehend the sight before her.
Axel blinked rapidly, his usual smug demeanor faltering. “Wait… what? Is that the Union President?” he blurted.
Blitz simply stared upward, shaking her head. “The Union President… here? Right now? What the hell’s going on? How did he even get here? When did he arrive?”
Anzo, who had been standing quietly, raised his hand as if unsure whether to speak. “Umm… So can someone explain to me what’s happening? Is this what happens on normal patrols? Because this is a first for me.”
“Of course it’s not normal, is that even something you should ask?” Beatrice suddenly asked him in a sharp yet low tone.
All of them stood in confusion.
Galisk’s golden aura dimmed slightly as he settled his gaze on Alister and Miyu. He then spoke.
“You all may continue with your duties. There’s no need for concern.”
His eyes flicked to the group, before resting once more on the two siblings.
“I simply wish to have a chat with Mr. Dragon Summoner and his precious sister.”
Alister’s face broke into a smile. “I thought I’d be the one to eventually go meet you… I never thought you’d come to me, Father.”
Viktor and Celia’s eyes widened in shock.
“Lost your mind, kid?” Viktor’s voice was sharp, his hand lowering from the salute as he stared at Alister.
“What the hell are you saying?”
Celia’s brow furrowed. “You can’t possibly be—” she said, but the words stuck in her throat as she, too, thought about the implications of Alister’s statement, glancing between them noticing thay had similar physical traits.
Axel walked over to him and whispered. “Ya dude, what are you talking about? The Union President? Your father? Are you serious?”
Blitz, standing just beside Axel, shook her head, still trying to make sense of the scene unfolding. “Yeah, that’s the big man himself. What do you mean he’s your father?”
“Where were you hiding this from me too?” Miyu suddenly said. Her words were quiet, but they struck like a bolt of lightning. Her eyes were wide, a look of shock, hurt, and confusion as she gazed at Alister.
Alister froze, his smile disappearing as he glanced at his sister.
Galisk suddenly spoke, his voice calm but firm. “Why don’t we talk elsewhere?”
Before anyone could respond, a golden aura enveloped Alister and Miyu, lifting them off the ground. They hovered into the air, weightless. The others could only watch in silence as the scene unfolded.
Then, with a sudden burst of speed, they shot off into the sky.
In the midst of this strange flight, Alister heard a voice echoing inside his head.
‘So this is your father in this era? Brother?’
It was Alameck.
Alister clenched his teeth, mentally willing the voice to stop. Keep quiet, he thought fiercely.
But Alameck didn’t stop.
‘The man is a half-celestial… Half-human… Half-human, so what does that make you, brother? You have human blood in you. Maybe you should go kill yourself instead of letting your existence be a disgrace upon the dragon race.’
Alister’s heart rate quickened, his grip tightening.
‘Shut up, Alameck, or else.’
Alameck chuckled, the sound almost mocking.
‘Do you believe such intimidation can work?’
‘What do you take me for? Your little sister? Please, brother, don’t make me laugh.’
Alister’s eyes narrowed, his glare intense. It had started only yesterday—he had begun to see a spectral version of Alameck in his vision… And only he could hear the provoking words of the Overlord of Ruin.
He tried to ignore him most of the time, since replying while he stared off into nothing would make him look crazy, especially since only he could see him.
His frustration bubbled to the surface, but he fought to maintain control.
He couldn’t let Alameck get under his skin, not now, not when things were already… chaotic.
Miyu, on the other hand, was still trying to get used to the sensation of flying.
The air rushed past her, disorienting her. She panicked, her breath catching in her throat as she instinctively grasped at the golden aura surrounding them, as if it could somehow help her feel more secure.
Galisk, sensing her unease, paused mid-flight. His voice calming down. “It’s alright, Miyu. There’s no need to worry. You’re safe.”
Miyu’s breathing slowed as she processed his words, her grip relaxing. She nodded, though her eyes still darted around, trying to understand the surreal situation she found herself in.
In the distance, a voice broke through the calm, rising in the air with palpable anger.
“Who does this human think he is?” Mar’Garet yelled as she appeared still in her humanoid form, her wings beating strongly, lifting her quickly toward them.
“You should unhand my lord and lady right this instant! You can’t just sweep the overlord of his feet as if you are carrying a child!”
Galisk’s golden eyes turned toward her, his gaze steady. He didn’t respond immediately, his attention momentarily captured by the fiery words of the dragon general.
Mar’Garet’s wings beat furiously behind her as she glared at Galisk. She was ready to take action, her temper flaring at the sight of anyone, let alone a human, not being respectful towards her lord and lady.
The only reason she hadn’t done anything was because Alister had mentioned something about this human being his father earlier, but she didn’t like the way he just lifted them off the ground like that, like they were mere objects.
However, Galisk remained calm. His expression softened slightly, a faraway look in his eyes.
Her words triggered something in him, a spark of distant memories, like a faint echo from a time long past.
He remembered the days when Yuuto, his dear friend, had spoken in a similar tone, full of defiance and loyalty to his lady.
It was a time when he, too, had fought for something he believed in, when he, too, had defied the boundaries of what was expected of him.
Those days felt like another life.
Suddenly another presence made itself known.
From the horizon, Cinder appeared with a sudden burst of speed, her wings slicing through the sky with the force of a storm while in her humanoid form. She flew up toward them, her fiery gaze locked onto Galisk.
“I agree with Mar’Garet,” she called out. “Father or not, you will treat our lord with respect. I demand you drop them both down this instant.”
Alameck’s voice echoed in Alister’s mind.
‘Ohhh, I see your queen has become feisty.’
Alister ignored the voice, his focus solely on the situation at hand. He had no time to engage with Alameck now, especially with the pressure mounting.
Galisk glanced at Cinder, his golden eyes. “Enough,” he said. “Calm down, all of you. Let us meet up with Yuuto first, and then we can land.” His words were clear, but the tension between the group was palpable.
But before anyone could argue or respond, a voice rang out from behind Galisk, cold and intense.
“That won’t be necessary.”
They all turned, eyes widening as Yuuto appeared in the air, standing effortlessly behind Galisk.
He was not flying, but rather, his feet were frozen in place on the air itself, as if he had suspended the very fabric of reality beneath him. He looked calm, yet there was this intense look in his eyes, and his presence brought a sense of control to the already charged atmosphere.
Galisk’s expression softened as he recognized the man who had just appeared. A smile appears on his lips. “Long time no see, old friend,” he said warmly.
Yuuto’s gaze flickered toward Galisk as he spoke with an intense tone. “Galisk you said you wanted to see them, and I told you you could when they came back from patrol, but I should have expected that you would simply storm off to go find them. You are always like this, thinking you can always have your way.”
“Like the other two said, drop them, you are in the presence of our lord, you won’t treat him like a mere child.”
Galisk’s expression softened. “Calm down, Yuuto. Let them land back at the White Comet Guild and we can talk things out properly. Or do you expect me to drop my kids off on the road and make them walk back there?”
He glanced at Miyu and Alister, still floating in mid-air, before looking back at Yuuto with a challenging glint in his eyes.
Yuuto closed his eyes with a touch of annoyance and understanding, but he sighed, his shoulders relaxing slightly. “Fine, fine. You’ve made your point. But don’t think I won’t have words with you later, Galisk.”
Galisk gave him a knowing smile. “Of course, old friend. We’ll have plenty of time for that once we’re back on solid ground.”
