After ending the monitoring session of a new employee's class, Leena strode into her room. Not before she relaxed for a couple of minutes, Reese barged inside without knocking on the door. ''Leena!''
Reese's voice was so loud that Leena woke up with a start. ''Reese, I told you not to disturb when I am resting,''
''Devin is here. He has come inside the office directly.'' Reese raced towards her friend. ''Also, he is talking with Mandy...it's more like browbeating her. Mandy is shitting bricks over there.''
''Mandy?'' Leena rose from the chair in surprise. Often Devin would drop her at the office gate but never step into her office, reasoning that her office has full of girls.
''Why did he come?'' Leena questioned herself. She fought with him over a dress in the morning. Did he come here to console her? Without wasting a second, Leena dashed out, followed by Reese. Few steps away, she found Devin standing in front of Mandy's desk. Meanwhile, Mandy stood there, gazing onto the floor desolately.
''I have proof that it's you.'' Leena heard Devin's cold tone directed at Mandy.
''Ca_n you..give me a chance.'' Mandy slowly lifted her head. She swallowed hard as she gazed into Devin's intense eyes. ''I will stop bitching. I promise.''
''You told the same thing when we last met.''
Mandy pursed her lips. Did I tell him that? Why does this devil target me all the time? When it comes to that witch's matters, her tongue loses control.
Meanwhile, Leena quickly scanned the room. The employee's gaze heartened at Devin like he was a rare candy brought from the store. That was enough to instigate her jealousy.
''There is no drama play going on here. Get back to work.'' In a matter of seconds, the employees ran to their desks.
Devin snapped to his left, hearing the shrill voice of his Sweetheart. He gazed at Leena with longing, like he had seen her after a long time. Not as Devin this time, but as her mysterious friend, as the stranger who saved her.
''What are you doing at my office?'' She smiled mischievously in a way that her smile pierced his heart.
''Am I not allowed here?'' Conutered Devin, a glint of a smile in his eyes.
He crossed the distance between them and pulled Leena close to him possessively. The employees around them gasped silently, watching their PDA.
''Why are you targeting Mandy?'' Holding his hand, Leena led him into her office room before he attempts to do something naughty in front of her employees. ''You are harassing my employee_''
The second the door was closed shut, Leena's back was pushed against the door, causing her to stop in the mid-sentence. Closing the small space between them, he leaned forward, crashing his lips against hers. His light kisses turned into more erotic in a way Leena had no choice but to open her mouth and inhale his sweet breath.
''Leena.'' He breathed in. ''I missed you.'' He told her in between frenzied kisses down her neck. ''I missed you every day, every second. It hurts like hell being away from you.''
Confusion flooded Leena's brain, drowning her in doubts. He was talking as if he had not seen her for months and years.
She hadn't seriously fought with him fought for months. The morning fight was just a silly one to fool with him. What has gotten into him to speak so emotionally? She doesn't want to hurt him by asking the reason. In the end, she said. ''I missed you too.'' And hugged him.
Silly girl, Devin spoke under his breath, his arms tightening around her in a secure hug. If only she knew what he meant by 'I missed you.' ''Can I ask you a question, Sweetheart? Will you answer it genuinely?''
Unbridling herself from the hug, Leena glanced up. ''You are acting strange today. Did something happen in the office?''
''Did you ever had feelings for your mystery friend?'' He questioned rather than answering her. Although he can't recall his memories of her, he is very much intrigued to know Leena's opinion of him back then.
The sudden question blew Leena's mind. ''Of course not. He is my friend, and nothing more. You are my only love.'' Their friendship was a symbol of pureness. Her world revolved around computers and making money, and after the accident, she loathed men to consider dating until Devin happened.
If he remembers correctly, Leena once told she met her friend during a fashion event. It was when she was a first year student. Four fucking years and he could not make her fall for him? Was this narcissist too hard to please? Devin vouched for the option considering the rough days she gave him before accepting his love. Getting those thoughts out of his mind, he focused on another question that pooped into his brain. ''What kind of person was your friend? Was he nice to you? or was he a pervert?''
''Hell no.'' Leena stopped him from thinking otherwise. ''He is very decent. Most of the time, we play games or talk about some fun stuff. That's all.''
No wonder the relationship moved at a snail's pace. Those games must be something like cake-making, ice cream making. ''What else you both talk?'' He curiously asked.
''I don't understand why you desperately want to know about him,'' Leena shouted after him. ''Don't you hate him?'' She still remembered Devin deleted his number from her mobile and later ordered her to crack Avogadro's number out of jealousy.
''That's because..'' Devin trailed off. The truth was almost at the tip of his tongue but held back in the last second. Until he gains his memories completely, he will keep them a secret from Leena. ''Anyway, tell me more about him.''
''Later..I have a meeting with the client in another half-n hour.''
''Are you kicking me out?''
''Any doubt?'' Leena unlocked the door.
''Monster you are!'' Devin dragged Leena along with him. ''At least see me out.''
''Yes, Mr. spoiled brat.'' Leena giggled as he went along with him.
As Devin walked past Mandy's desk, she covered her face with a book. ''He is a devil landed on this earth to feed on an innocent human like me."
After Leena went inside the office, Devin drove to the city's far end without going to the office. The car took a left turn connected to the main road and progressed down the shallow road before screeching it to stop in front of groves. He stepped out of the car and walked into the woods, crossing the tall eucalyptus trees. The sound of chirping birds, whispering wind of the leaves intensified. The dry leaves crunched with every step he took. A while later, he halted his footsteps when he found a man sitting on a wood log. ''Weren't we supposed to meet at the hospital? Why did you ask me to come to a forest?'' Devin asked.
''The more people walk on the same path in a forest, the path becomes easier to follow. The same thing happens with the brain. The more you think about something in a calm place, the easier for you to recall the related feelings of that associated memory.'' Doctor Walter glanced up.. ''Let's dig up your memories from here.''
