Chapter 1448: Yggdrasil’s Plan

Chapter 1448: Yggdrasil’s Plan

The world seemed to turn colder for a second, and Yggdrasil cursed far above in Sylph’s heaven. She could feel the very sky glaring down at her, the space around her roots growing tighter, and the wind twisting her branches a bit too much.

Sylph looked at her; she, too, had sensed the shift. She could tell at a glance that it was something that Arad did, but couldn’t tell exactly what it was.

“If Tina dies, I’m fucked, so you better cooperate. Is what the world is saying.” Yggdrasil sighed, “I can indeed help that woman with a shattered soul, but not as much as he or the world expects. I’ll be giving her the tools, but not the effort. It’s like trying to lose weight or gain muscle. In her case, it’s like a physical therapy to her soul after it was disabled for years.”

Sylph had heard of Arad’s maid before, the one named Tina. She was probably the only human in the world with such influence due to having Arad at her side. While most human lives are worth just as much as their lives are worth, she, on the other hand, got AO behind, and even if no one knows about him yet, Chad also had a hand in protecting her, and the human god is known for being a pain to deal with.

“Can you help her?”

Yggdrasil hesitated for a second, “I can give her a chance, but if she makes a mistake, she is more than dead. Her soul would crumble and she’ll exist no more.”

The branch of the world tree rustled, moving slowly with the wind. “Her soul is shattered into many fragments, so she needs to start fusing them one by one, and to do that, she needs a lot of energy.”

“If she fails, her soul would lose balance, crumble, and that’ll be her end.” Sylph stood from her massive wooden throne. As she did, a large branch emerged beneath her feet and carried her forward. So you want to send her to one of your worlds?”

The world tree seemed to nod, and Sylph sighed, “Then send her to the weakest world with the least expectations and power ceiling. The last thing we want is her getting bullied into giving up. Since she is going to start working with tiny shards of her soul, her potential would seem and will be lower than any normal human for a long while.”

“I already found one, but even there, and with the most accepting school, her talent would be laughed at, she might even get rejected outright. You can’t compete with normal humans when you have less than a thousandth of your soul to work with. Let alone with talents trying to cultivate their souls and power.”

“Let me guess.” Sylph smiled, “The Emerald Grove, the Topaz Star, or the Million Mountains of Ashbrow.” Those were the names of some of Yggdrasil’s worlds, where she is the sole divine being. In those worlds, the people worshipped and prayed to the World Tree; to them, it was their source of all life in their world.

“I’ll send her to the Emerald Grove, if she is willing to take the risk. Only because there is a school there with a very nice old lady at the top, and that one is quite a devoted follower and would be willing to take the matter seriously.”

Yggdrasil had set her mind, and she would contact the old lady beforehand to make sure she prepared everything in case Tina took the offer. If this works out, Yggdrasil would get in Arad’s favor for a long time, as he isn’t known to forget. But if Tina dies trying, hopefully, Arad won’t blame it on her.

Far away, countless stars away and in a massive world far away from the influence of many gods, the Emerald Grove, a planet called as such for its massive green forests and jungles, floated away in space.

An old woman was meditating in her room alone at the peak of a titanic temple, looking at the inner wall, which was just a massive branch that once fell from the World Tree.

In this world of green foliage, people prayed and worshipped the biggest tree, the World Tree. This branch in front of the woman was a sacred relic, and the one thing everyone in the temple and the cities around it prayed to.

She was the head of the temple, the woman above all else, the pope. Her life’s job was to listen to the branch, pray to it, and read its faint ripples for wisdom. The sacred branch had warned them many times about disasters, dungeon breaks, and about the star fall; if not for it, their civilisation would’ve been wiped away thousands of years ago.

Today, while being a hundred and seven years old, the old woman finally sensed that the branch had something to say. She was both excited and worried. Is it a blessing, or a warning about an encroaching disaster? The branch only moved when something of utmost importance was about to happen.

But today, something terrifying happened. Instead of a faint shift, a woman emerged from the branch. The old lady didn’t even dare lift her head and look, for she knew that the one standing there was their sacred tree, Yggdrasil.

“I’m not sure, but a woman might show up, of brown hair and short height, accompanied by an elven-foot-tall man. Her talent would be hundreds, if not thousands, of times worse than the worst student this world had ever seen.”

Yggdrasil spoke, ignoring the terrified old woman shaking hands. “If she gets harmed in any way, dies while cultivating, or gets hurt, or if someone dares lay a hand on her. That man with her will literally flip the whole continent on its head, and I’ll personally throw this whole world to the depths of hell.” She took a step toward the branch.

“Literally means Literally, I didn’t exaggerate a single word. Treat her like a normal student, don’t show any favor as that will stunt her development, but make sure she doesn’t get harmed, achieve balance.”

Yggdrasil disappeared, and the old lady didn’t move for two hours, contemplating what the World Tree said. There were many levels of horror to what just happened. The first was that Yggdrasil had come in person to warn them, which was unheard of.

Second, since when did men grow so tall? How can such a man flip a whole continent? She didn’t know, but didn’t dare think too much about it. For now, she must prepare, inform the right people, and get ready. The world might end before she dies of old age.
