Chapter 69: Chen Shu’s Past (2)
“What are you doing here?”
Ye Sui instantly recognized this voice. Her heart sank, and she turned to look in its direction. Chen Shu stood there, his eyes slightly gloomy and his lips pressed into a thin line.
He was furious.
Cheng Yun’s eyes flashed with surprise. She stepped forward and said, “We haven’t seen each other for so long. I came today to—”
Before she could finish speaking, Chen Shu turned around directly. He didn’t even look at Cheng Yun and went straight out. His speed was fast, and his back decisive.
His meaning was obvious: he didn’t want to see Cheng Yun.
Cheng Yun didn’t know Chen Shu would be so indifferent to her. She was awkwardly left hanging there. Ye Sui caught a glimpse of Chen Shu’s reaction and was worried about him.

Looking at Cheng Yun, Ye Sui immediately ordered, “Please leave with your cake. Don’t come back. We don’t welcome you.
“You chose to leave him years ago, so don’t bother him now.”
Cheng Yun was silent for a few seconds, and then she left.
As soon as Cheng Yun left, Ye Sui turned to chase after Chen Shu. She was in a panic as she ran to the elevator, but she was still one step late. The elevator door was slowly closing.
Before the elevator door closed, Ye Sui saw Chen Shu’s figure. His head was lowered, and he wasn’t looking anywhere. The whole person looked indifferent.
Ye Sui’s heart fluttered. She felt as if Chen Shu was sleepwalking just like that day, so helpless and fragile.
Ye Sui tried her best to control her emotions. She reached out to press the button, but her hand was shaking slightly. She looked up and stared at the LED, praying the elevator to hurry up to this floor...
She wanted to catch up with Chen Shu as soon as possible. His condition was making her worried and scared. She couldn’t let him leave alone like that.
After a few seconds, the elevator door finally opened. Ye Sui walked in quickly and pressed the button for the first floor.
The elevator moved slowly, but only after a short time, Ye Sui felt as if a century had passed. She was thinking about Chen Shu, and her heart was anxious.

Finally, the first floor arrived. Ye Sui ran out of the elevator and searched the area, but there was no sign of Chen Shu’s figure.
The night was already deep. She didn’t know when it started raining heavily. The droplets were cold, falling on the ground with a pitter-patter.
Ye Sui hurried out, and in the dark rain, she caught a glimpse of a man. Ye Sui shouted, “Chen Shu.”
Chen Shu didn’t stop, he stood in the dark, stormy night. His clothes were soaked; however, he walked forward numbly without care.
Ye Sui chased him under the heavy rain and finally caught up to him. She looked into Chen Shu’s eyes. “Chen Shu, I drove her away.”
Ye Sui whispered, “Let’s go home now.”
Chen Shu did not look at Ye Sui, and his eyes did not have any focus. He seemed to be isolated from the world around him as he murmured, “Go home?”
Ye Sui held Chen Shu’s hand and stressed. “Yes, we’ll go home.”
The torrential downpour fell without stopping and soaked their clothes. But they did not leave. Chen Shu was standing in the rain with Ye Sui accompanying him.
Chen Shu looked at Ye Sui, and their eyes met. As the rain grew heavier, her outline became distinct. She stood in the falling water with a slender figure and a pale face.
And those eyes clearly were worried.
Chen Shu’s vision gradually recovered to clear and bright. He frowned. “You are drenched in water.”
Ye Sui breathed a sigh of relief. Before she could speak, Chen Shu led her to the eaves. It was raining so hard that they couldn’t go back for the time being, so they took shelter first.
Under the eaves, it was tranquil, with only the cold rain outside the window acting as a backdrop. In silence, Ye Sui heard Chen Shu’s voice.
“The day she left, it also rained so much.”
Ye Sui looked at Chen Shu. He was staring at the rain curtain and seemed to be gazing at the past. “I always thought she would return...
“I always expected her to come back to find me, but she didn’t. She just abandoned me.”
Chen Shu’s low voice rang in the night. “She didn’t love my father. After she gave birth to me, she suffered from postpartum depression. Whenever she was unhappy, she would lock me in a dark room.
“I was scared. I banged on the door and begged her to let me out, but she ignored me and still repeated it after that...”
