Chapter 105.4: A Nostalgic Night (2)

“Chen Shu, your face is so cold. I’ll warm you up.” When Ye Sui first saw Chen Shu just now, she had sensed that he was in a bad mood.

Ye Sui more or less had some guesses, but she didn’t want to voice them out directly. Hence, she chose another way to coax him.

Chen Shu was stunned at first before he held Ye Sui tightly and walked forward.

Ye Sui was startled and tightened her hold around Chen Shu’s neck. Realizing that Chen Shu’s mood had recovered, her mouth bloomed into a smile.

“Well, Chen Shu, you can still play such jokes. Say, who did you learn it from?”

Chen Shu smiled but said nothing. He deliberately made a gesture of running forward.

Ye Sui was so frightened that she immediately hooked her legs around Chen Shu’s waist. “Don’t... Don’t... Chen Shu is bad.”

The snow began to get heavier, and there was a cold chill all over the place.

But in this heavy snowfall, Ye Sui’s laughter came from time to time, making even the cold snow not so cold.

The next day, Ye Sui and Chen Shu prepared to go back to Yan Lan’s house for the new year’s celebration. Although Chen Shu’s father wanted them to go back to the Chen Mansion, Yan Lan was alone, and it was unreasonable not to accompany her.

The luggage was prepared the day before. Chen Shu let Ye Sui go to her room to rest. In the meanwhile, he got things ready before he warmed up a glass of milk and told Ye Sui to get up.

Ye Sui was so tired yesterday that Chen Shu wanted her to have a sound sleep.

After Ye Sui washed up, she was still in a daze. Chen Shu didn’t wake her up, but let her continue to sleep in the car.

Before the car started, the cell phone in Ye Sui’s bag suddenly rang. It was a call from Yan Lan.

Chen Shu immediately took the phone, walked out of the car, and answered in a respectful tone, “Mother-in-law.”

Yan Lan was stupefied for a few seconds, then she smiled and said, “Oh, it’s Xiao Shu.”

“Ye Sui was busy at work yesterday. I want her to continue to sleep in the car,” explained Chen Shu.

Yan Lan’s tone was very gentle. “I didn’t have anything important to say. I just want you to be careful on the road. It’s snowing now, and the ground is very slippery. Remember to be careful when driving. Don’t be in such a hurry.”

Yan Lan nagged for a while, but Chen Shu still responded patiently.

At last, Yan Lan finally stopped exhorting him. “The food is ready. I’ll wait for you at home.”

After hanging up the phone, Chen Shu sat back in the car. He looked at Ye Sui, who was still asleep, with a smile in his eyes. He thought of the word Yan Lan said just now.

Home.

It was not only Ye Sui’s home but also his home now.

Chen Shu started the car and drove towards Yan Lan’s home. More than half of a mile was gone when Ye Sui woke up. She rubbed her eyes and straightened up.

Ye Sui looked out of the window, her voice still filled with some confusion. “Chen Shu, snow.”

It had snowed all night, and the ground was already covered with a white blanket. Snowflakes fell on the window and soon disappeared. The warm air conditioner was turned on to keep out the cold air.

“Yes,” he answered, then handed the insulation cup to Ye Sui, which was put aside. “Hot water.”

Ye Sui obediently took the cup and drank a few sips. The car soon arrived at Yan Lan’s house.

Today was the first day of the new year. There were lanterns and decorations everywhere, and everyone was celebrating the new year.

When Chen Shu and Ye Sui entered Yan Lan’s house, the door was already open. There was a table full of dishes on the table, and Yan Lan was still busy in the kitchen.

Ye Sui pushed Yan Lan out of the kitchen and made the final preparation together with Chen Shu.

Winter night came very early, and it was already dark before six o’clock. This family reunion was different from the Chan Mansion.

Although there were only three of them, Chen Shu did not feel lonely at all.

Towards midnight, Ye Sui pulled Chen Shu out of the house and stood in the yard.

At midnight, the sky suddenly brightened, and the fireworks went off. The beautiful fireworks lit up the night.

Ye Sui smiled and raised her voice in the noisy sound of firecrackers. “Chen Shu, happy new year!”

Fireworks were in full bloom, bright to the extreme, accompanied by the white snowflakes.

This year’s winter was the first new year that Ye Sui and Chen Shu had spent together.

The temperature that night was the coldest in a month, but Ye Sui felt that it was the warmest night when she was by his side.

She only wanted to be with Chen Shu in the smell of fireworks and would never be separated.
