Chapter 276 - Pictures!

Jennifer was stunned to the next core. Was this the place where... his mother used to live!? So far!?

She can't believe her own ears but noting how Javier totally switched off his expressional mode, made her understand that he had nothing to joke around

Keeping quiet she waited for him to say further when he continued, "My mum had no place to go since my father took everything from my mother."

"Since you know that two marriages are allowed… well…. My mother wasn't in favor of this; she never wants to be titled as 'first lawful wife.' Neither was she willing to share her husband with anyone in this lifetime."

At this point, his voice starts to get heavier as compared to the earlier one. She knows that he is on the verge of letting himself out, but somehow he is trying to get control of his Emotions not let the flood out.

"S-So… She wasn't willing to be the first one, similar to how I reacted?" Jennifer can't help but ask, with a lot of curiosity.

All she felt was that her mother-in-law must be in the same position as her… the mere difference to her would be, the man whom she loved for so long, gave him two beautiful and handsome hunk, had cheated her after years of marriage.

Javier slightly nodded his head to say, "Worse than how you reacted."

With this, he stood up from the couch and held her hand, "Come, I will show you something around."

Without asking in return, Jennifer simply followed him to where he brought her in one of the rooms, which was entirely decorated with some natural pictures, or the canvas.

"T-this.." she wasn't able to comprehend how this room could be so clean and neat?

Her face turned to Javier, waiting to ask when he coughed and answered back.

"This was the room where she used to live. It has been kept exactly the same way. Not even a little thing was disturbed or changed on my orders." Javier leaves her hand to move to another side where he came to one of the shelves.

Opening the drawer, he took out one of the files kept inside and saw it near her. "This is... still here even after years."

"W-what is that?" Jennifer curiously asked when he flipped the pages and there came one of the freshly strapped pages, under the transparency sheet for protection.

But she gulped the saliva present in her mouth after reading the title.

'DIVORCE PAPERS'

Immediately, she averted her eyes in Javier's direction, to see him not moving his gaze at all. It was so pure that it appeared in the file as if his soul had been snatched away.

"These.. divorce papers.. are.." she wasn't able to find words since her eyes revealed to see the date that was stamped on the paper.

Documents were dated one decade ago...

"These were the papers in my mother's drawer when she left all of us, this was the time when she printed these documents after talking to her lawyer about ending this marriage for once and all.."

"Unfortunately,..." he laughed slightly when taking a deep breath he said again, "She passed away before she would have delivered these papers to father."

The words were broken, the voice filled with dread and uneasiness. Jennifer lifted her eyes to stare into his, finding that he was already heartbroken after recalling everything.

Deep in her mind, she wished to stop him from even thinking about such events but curiosity got the better of her.

Only if she could control his feelings and make him feel much better.

"So, your parents weren't divorced? " Jennifer asked in a slightly serious tone to which he shook his head firmly

"My father married that secretary without divorcing my mother. And the time he married was exactly the time when my mother decided to leave that man for that mistress and move out of that house.."

Javier was certain in his voice which almost made Jennifer slightly amazed as well.

Only she knew how bad this feels.. to see your husband being on terms with another woman.

This ruptured her heart even at the thought, what else can she think to do to be a mother when she had to go through the pain of witnessing her husband having an affair with another person?

"She.. was a prideful person, wasn't she?" Jennifer's eyes turn slightly red when she tries to stop her own tears, to not appear weak.

Yet recalling the time when he got engaged to Emily was enough to drive her to the edge of tears. "She was. More prideful than any of us."

"And.. strong enough to take a huge step for herself," Jennifer added to his comment who nodded his head.

He just kept the divorce papers back in the file which he placed on the shelf itself. Closing the drawer, he led her hand and brought her inside another room.

It was of a similar nature, just the difference she spotted was the interior and the picture of a baby boy that was hanging on the walls. "Whose room is this?"

"Mine."

His one reply was enough to make her understand that he must have spent his childhood in this place. Leaving his hand, she subconsciously moved her legs in that direction to come near the frame.

Bringing her hand near the photograph, she caressed it lightly as a faint smile appeared on her lips, "You were really cute."

"I had gone after my mothers, so did Brother Charles. We share everything, that is with our mother." Javier answered from behind while he stood with the support of the nearby wall.

"I...I.. can't believe.." muttering in between her breathe, she sensed that Javier must have gone through a brutal past, to experience a childhood where he had enough drama to witness within his family

On the other hand, he moved on to the other side of the wall while staring at the wall that was all covered with photographs of his childhood.

"Hah… wasn't this your favorite activity.. mother.."
