The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Chapter 770 - 770: Against All Odds (3)

“Very fast and strong,” Klaus muttered as his sword met the metallic leg of the spider demon.

The sound produced was enough to tell him Instructor Simon wasn’t wrong. According to what he knew, the spider demon had an impenetrable body.

The report said its body was made of the hardest metal, so killing it wasn’t something Klaus had expected anytime soon.

But that didn’t mean it only had a robust defense.

Aside from its clearly impenetrable defense, it also had great speed and incredibly powerful strength that couldn’t be underestimated.

Klaus was now clashing in the air with the spider demon, swinging with all his energy while his spirit weapons circled ahead while trying not to be stabbed by the metallic legs or ensnared by the webs.

Klaus dodged a piercing attack from one of the 14 legs, only to be struck by another, sending him flying back.

However, the spider demon couldn’t move ahead and land a powerful blow, as the demon-cutting disc appeared and split into 28, attacking the legs.

The spider demon moved back, shooting a web made of metallic strings at the demon-cutting disc, but Klaus directed them away, sending a pointed spear at one of the spider’s eyes.

However, just before the spear could strike, the spider slammed one of its 14 legs at it, sending it flying away.

But Klaus, knowing that the spider getting close to him was the last thing he wanted, quickly activated a skill that conjured hundreds of flaming swords and shot them at the spider, causing loud explosions.

“Void Piercing Arrow.”

The sword in Klaus’s hand changed into a bow—the bow he took as a souvenir from the Demon Manticore he killed in the dungeon when he was undergoing the trial.

A thick, dark arrow appeared in it.

The arrow vanished from sight the moment it left the bow and arrived in front of the spider. However, just before it could pierce its eyes, the arrow vanished into a small opening that led to the void.

“Shit.”

Klaus muttered as he swung the bow, which turned into a sword as it cleaved through the arrow that came back to him.

The shockwave pushed him back.

Klaus thought he had cornered the spider, but the spider demon turned his own attack against him, making the situation even more dire.

The plan was always to stay on the move, not allowing the overpowered spider to get close.

However, the moment it attacked back using the Void Piercing Arrow, Klaus wasted a split second, which was more than enough for the spider to make its move.

It appeared in front of Klaus, piercing one of its metallic legs at him. The leg went through his chest, tearing him apart.

All over the world, everyone gasped at such a grotesque sight. However, the next second, they all sighed as Klaus appeared in the air, revealing that the one who died wasn’t really him.

Naturally, he had many clones hidden all around. They couldn’t be seen, for he was using space distortions and illusions to hide them.

But they were limited, as he couldn’t afford to use more of his mind on creating tangible clones while he needed them for split-second calculations.

The demon-cutting disc closed in again, splitting into hundreds of smaller cutting discs, drawing all the attention away from himself as he planned for when to attack and when to observe.

“This thing is a killing machine here on Earth,” Klaus muttered, still not finding any openings he could exploit.

“There has to be a way.”

[If there is no way, why don’t you create one? Remember, although it’s made of metal, it’s not invincible.]

“That is easier said than done, senior,” Klaus said as he evaded a piercing string shot from one of the spider’s many eyes.

[You have to analyze its movements, and then, using your advantage with reality and illusions, you can devise some plans.

After all, you can’t be killed easily, provided you switch whenever a fatal blow you can’t dodge arrives.]

Klaus nodded at what the senior said.

Naturally, he was already doing that. However, the plan wasn’t easy, considering he had already tried three methods, but they all yielded no results.

“Ice Pillar.”

Klaus channeled his ice qi, conjuring a large pillar made of ice.

It descended on the spider demon, which swung two of its legs, creating crescent arcs that severed the ice, making it shatter in the air before reaching him.

But, of course, Klaus was on the move.

He distanced himself and unleashed another Piercing Arrow, this time using the lightning element.

“Heaven Lightning Arrow.”

The arrow shot out and streaked through the air, landing on one of the legs of the spider demon, which shattered upon impact with the leg. There wasn’t even a single scratch on the leg.

That was a low blow. However, Klaus wasn’t done.

He had already confirmed what he needed to know: never to use skills linked to the void against the spider. The moment he does that, he will defend his own skill.

So he could only rely on skills that do not require using Void energy.

Three more arrows followed, and before the spider could react, a thick arrow tempered using the third form of the [Hellfire Tempering Art] appeared from Klaus’s space ring and locked into the bow.

“Demon Piercing Arrow.”

The arrow left the bow, turning into a dark skull of unknown origin. It moved quickly, and soon, it was right in front of the spider demon.

“Explode.”

The skull burst into a wave of lightning and fire.

“Asura Crazy Sword Strike.” Another skull appeared in the air and quickly melted into a wave of energy, entering Klaus’s sword.

He took a powerful swing, sending out a wave of sword qi that slammed into two of the legs the spider used to defend itself.

“Damn, what are they made of?”

Klaus used Vanishing Steps and appeared 3 km away as a giant hammer appeared in his hands. The spider, who had been pushed back by his attack, moved and soon was almost in front of him.

“Giant Hammer Falling.”

The colossal hammer appeared in the air and fell on the spider. However, the spider stabbed three legs at the hammer, creating an instant crack in it.

Soon, the crack multiplied, and then boom, it exploded, pushing Klaus back.

He tried to move back against it, but the spider appeared behind him, stabbing one of its many legs through his chest.

The second clone died, but Klaus is still alive.

“At this point, you should know that everything you do will be futile.” The spider spoke eerily when Klaus appeared again in the air, shocking him.

“I saw 1002 variations of our battle, and in each variation, you died when your hidden clones ran out.”

“Clairvoyance.”

[Clairvoyance.]

Both Klaus and the senior muttered, causing Klaus to widen his eyes.
