Five days passed as the Panama Continent gained as many as sixty convoys, among whom a surprising one-third came in peace. It made sense, for the greater the number of incoming polities, the weaker the average power level would be, and the more unwilling they were to wage an all-out war with the indigenous population.
And yet, two-thirds of them still proved to be stubborn, initiating conflicts upon arrival. The Martial Sages and Martial Masters of the world began growing busy as an increasing number of the latter began migrating to the Kandrian Empire just so that they could be useful.
They were rapidly deployed across the entire continent, facing all manners of invading convoys that thought they could get away with setting a colony.
They didn’t realize how wrong they were.
From the perspective of the Panama Continent, it was pure foolishness for lesser polities to even think about putting their hands on the Panama Continent with their strength. However, the decision was more understandable from the mindset of the true worlders.
It wasn’t that they thought that they could take on the Panama Continent as a whole.
It was that they thought that they wouldn’t have to.
The idea was that because the Panama Continent was dealing with much greater threats across a wide span of area, they wouldn’t have the opportunity to deal with all the lesser threats.
They couldn’t have imagined that a single nation had captured the Martial Power of the entire continent and was systematically targeting every newcomer that came with unfriendly intentions.
Many who were overwhelmed desperately pleaded for peace, although the Emperor of Harmony had no intention of forgiving initial aggression too easily. First impressions mattered, after all. If the Panama Continent was seen as soft on aggression, then that would only incentivize more aggression.
By showing a tough and unforgiving stance, word would spread across the true world that the Panama Continent was not one to be messed around with.
Simultaneously, the Panamic Alliance rapidly pursued peace and harmony with those nations that came in peace, agreeing to sign bilateral trade agreements, and even opened up the possibility of signing away limited mining licenses to those of the true world.
This was also another incentive.
It was to encourage the people of the true world to pursue peace rather than pursue hostilities.
However, there were limitations to this approach.
For one, the true world wasn’t convinced that the Panama Continent had the military firepower to push back against the forces of the true world.
This was understandable and, unfortunately, rooted in truth.
Each of the six continents was gigantic and far larger than the Panama Continent, and was all essentially pooling its power to crush the Panama Continent. It was truly difficult to imagine that the Panama Continent could hold off and deter such astronomical intent.
The biggest problem for the Panama Continent was the fact that the Evolutionary Army’s successful colony on the Panama Continent and their failure to kick them out showed that the most lucrative approach was still achieving military victories against the Panama Continent.
And they knew that one didn’t have to be as strong as the Evolutionary Army to attain a victory against the Panama Continent. The more forces that converged upon the continent, the more divided the Panama Continent’s power would be. And the number of incoming convoys across the entire continent only grew larger and larger with each passing day, as enough time had passed since the Unfolding to commence more well-prepared and formal expeditions upon the Panama Continent.
Fourteen days after the Unfolding, one thousand active and approaching convoys converged upon the Panama Continent. Of them, a quarter came in peace while the others began mounting sieges upon the Panama Continent.
With one thousand incoming convoys, it was no longer possible to deploy a Martial Sage per convoy, forcing the Panamic Alliance to ration them for the most important threats. Teams of Martial Masters were deployed across the entire continent.
Naturally, they weren’t strong enough to guarantee victory.
Additionally, the sheer amount of strain and energy drain that fielding so many teams across the entire continent caused there to be delays in the deployments, which increased the rate of hostilities as Martial Masters were often deployed only after the outsiders had arrived and had already set up small bases.
The biggest problem, however, was the fact that the Evolutionary Army proved to be absurdly tenacious against the attacks of the Panamic Alliance. With space-time anchors that stabilized space and prevented wormholes from opening inside their base, the Panamic Alliance lost much of its ambushing power against the Evolutionaries.
The worst part was that, as much as he wanted, the Emperor of Harmony was unable to deploy the sheer quantity of forces needed to banish the Evolutionary Army from the Panama Continent.
He couldn’t justify deploying two, or perhaps even three, Transcendent candidate-level assets against them along with a hundred Martial Sages.
The attacks of the Therianthropes only continued as they brought with them greater and greater numbers, led by the Minotaur, who could only be countered by a Transcendent candidate.
The same could be said of the recurring attacks from the giants, who brought with them greater numbers and prepared for the pre-emptive defenses that the Panama Continent had now become known for mounting.
The dwarves proved to be more tactical, deploying smaller groups of ships that were disguised as those of other nations, making the Panamic Alliance react to their entry upon the continent very late.
And yet, not even that was the worst part.
BZZZT BZZZT BZZZT!
Emperor Rael’s severe eyes shifted to his commpad as he skimmed through the emergency intelligence updates.
His expression crumbled with a hint of despair as he clenched his fists.
[Kandrian Satellite WW-163A4 is offline upon attack from the Imperial Tekvorian Federation]
[Communications across Panama have been redirected to other satellites. Delays and lags are expected.]
[Long-Range Surveillance Footage indicates sea-base building operations from the Imperial Tevorian Federation]
“Dammit…!” his tone shook as reckoning dawned on him.
The tekvores had begun to move again.
