Chapter 3182: The Power of the Evolutionary
Amare’s eyes widened with shock at those words. “Don’t tell me you mean to…!”
“No, of course not,” Rui shook his head. “He is our absolute enemy, and there’s nothing to be gained by doing that. However…”
Rui’s eyes flickered with greed. “…his power, on the other hand, is worth it.”
She frowned. “How do you plan on doing that?”
Rui smirked with excitement. “You will just have to see. Let’s hurry, I can’t wait to get there.”
WHOOSH!
They hastened their speed through the air as the very fabric of space and time warped under their approach, bending the gentle light of dusk.
Within half an hour, they had already reached the Esocline Federation.
The small, but highly dense and tall state looked more damaged and beat up than it had in the past.
The continuous attacks from the Imperial Tekvorian Federation spanning an entire month meant that naturally the Sage-level powerhouse hadn’t been all to protect itself entirely. The exteriors of the nation had varying degrees of damage, from light to complete annihilation.
However, the interiors of the nation remained untouched.
It showed that the Esocline Federation deserved to be counted among the Sage-level powerhouses, even if it was undoubtedly the weakest.
For now.
VMMM…!
A MECHA emerged from the Esocline Federation as its electromagnetic propulsion system gently brought it forth before Rui and Amare, who towered in the skies above it. Its body was bulky and heavy, with plenty of reinforced armor and powerful defensive esoteric substances.
Rui could even sense that it had bits and pieces of invintium newly integrated here and there.
“Your Sagehood Prince Rui, Your Sagehood Sage Amare,” an electronic voice emerged from the MECHA. “I am the leader of the MECHA legion of the Esocline Federation, Master Merthwyne Melwen. I would like to welcome you to our nation.”
Rui’s eyes lit up with interest.
“Mech legion? Has the Esocline Federation gained that many MECHA Apprentices already?”
“Yes, Your Highness,” the MECHA Master replied. “Your latest wave of breakthroughs has, in particular, yielded a lot of new MECHA Apprentices. Our Vice-President would like to thank you for that. It is regrettable that His Excellency is preoccupied, as I’m sure you’re aware.”
Rui nodded. “There is no need for formality or anything of the sort. I’m here on urgent business, and we’re not in a situation where we can afford to have welcoming banquets or anything of the sort.”
“…Understood, Your Sagehood, please follow me.”
Anthea’s body was property of the Kandrian Empire, since Rui had been the one to kill him. They entrusted it to the Federation for preservation.
The MECHA guided them through the dense technocracy that was infested with machinery to the very brim, so much so that one truly could not imagine it was built for human inhabitation.
“Are there even people in this country?” Amare murmured with a curious expression as she gazed at the big machines all around her chugging along with inscrutable purposes. “This is like a nation for machines.”
“There are people in the Esocline Federation, of course,” the MECHA Master remarked beside her, having exited his MECHA as they headed deeper into the nation. “But less than a million people in total live entirely in the core of the nation. Come, it is not too far away.”
They went deeper and deeper, heading into the core of the nation past all the reinforced armor and fortress walls built to keep it as protected as possible.
After countless security check-ins and passes, they finally reached their designated location. A giant, spherical lab with countless monitors and scientists revolving around the stasis chamber.
At the very center of the stasis chamber was a body.
An ephemeral body.
One that looked like it belonged to a higher plane of existence.
Even in death, his being was unfathomable.
He looked just as he had when Rui had extracted the Gu from his body.
“Prince Rui.”
The firm voice of a woman drew his attention.
Before him was the vice president of the Esocline Federation.
Despite her status, she dressed as any of the other scientists, in a lab coat atop simple but formal attire and a pair of thick glasses.
“We welcome you to the Esocline Federation,” she remarked. “Please give us a heads-up next time. Our labs have strict protocols that are very thorough and time-consuming, especially so in times of war.”
“I understand,” Rui nodded. “I will be sure to keep that in mind. But for now…”
He gazed at Anthea’s body with a hint of excitement.
“Open it up. I need access to his body.”
The vice president frowned lightly.
Although she wasn’t eager to contradict the most powerful man in all of Panama, she nonetheless wasn’t particularly fond of this request.
“With all due respect to Your Sagehood,” she began with a respectful tone. “I would not recommend removing the body from the stasis field. Each second it spends outside of the stasis field will mean more decomposition. The more it decomposes, the less we will be able to learn from it. Within the body of this specimen of evosapien lies untold potential for genetic science and technology, we may unlock the secrets of artificial evolution. It is truly unfortunate that the Divine Doctor is not inclined to lead the research project. With his expertise and skill, we would make ten times as much progress.”
Rui shook his head. “He has much larger ambitions. Not to mention, I’m sure he’s already figured out evolutionaries inside out from just one glance at the data that you have already sent him. Nothing within the Gaian Tree of Life is a challenge to him. Coming back to the point, I can undo any decomposition and restore him seconds away from death rather than minutes. I just need skin tissue.”
She frowned. “…Reverse Decomposition? What do you intend to do with skin tissue?”
“I intend to resurrect some of his skin cells, of course,” Rui’s tone grew more excited. “And from those living skin cells, I can obtain living stem cells. Living evolved, evolutionary stem cells and from there…”
His eyes lit up with greed.
“I can obtain the power of an evolutionary.”
