With his free hand and Lifewarden’s help, Damian opened the wormhole scrolls one by one and started jumping 500-600 meters in seconds, gliding on the hoverboard as fast as possible. The hoverboard was already draining the last of his liquid mana. Hopefully, they could get just 20 minutes before Land Breaker could find them—that should be enough to at least open a waygate with the generated liquid mana and get the hell out of here.
‘He is looking for me.. You barely have 10 minutes.’ the voice resounded in his mind again.
‘Shut the fuck up!’ Damian screamed in his mind. ‘Why do you only bring bad news every single time!? Who the hell even are you?’
The voice replied, ‘For now, I am your friend.. Hurry up! Do not kill your friend!’
Damian ignored him and continued multitasking as best as he could. Lifewarden was too shaken to even react to the insane method of traveling. The worst part was, Damian could sense the goddamn Land Breaker’s mana signature coming closer and closer, even though he was moving at the rate of 1 km every 30 seconds.
“Wake up these useless people!” Damian said aloud to Lifewarden. “That thing is coming behind us! We need everyone!”
“Yes!” Lifewarden broke out of his stupor and used all kinds of methods to awaken the Highswords.
Damian just generated more and more liquid mana, gathering it in the empty mana container slot he had specially made to hold it, while activating wormhole scroll after wormhole scroll. The countless burning paper left behind their trail in the shadowy desert. Lifewarden, in front of Damian, slapped some of them, shook them like toys, and finally threw water on their faces. Only then did they groaned and slowly opened their eyes, seeing the scenery changing so fast that it looked like a blur. Damian kept his focus on his job and let Lifewarden explain the situation to them.
When the other side with Sunkeeper and Bloodedge eyed his generator and the pile of runic scrolls, Damian stared them directly in the eyes, and they looked away. They had all killed people today—some in betrayal, some in self-defense—but none had killed three third-rankers in barely 20 minutes. They did not want to test him.
Even though Lifewarden told them about the threat they were facing and they themselves could sense the Land Breaker, changing their expressions to pure horror, they still stood with their sides and eyed each other while arguing loudly.
“Really? Bloodedge? Have you really fallen so low to join them? Or were you always a part of this, playing us like a fool? Whatever this shitty faction is?” Runefather said, the pain obvious in his voice. Worldscribe also eyed Bloodedge, who just emotionlessly shrugged them off without replying.
They were the closest among all Highswords—Damian could understand what they were going through—but they had no time for such bullshit right now!
“Stop all your nonsense!” Damian shouted. “Bring out your strongest weapons and trump cards. Land Breaker will be here in minutes! I need 15 more minutes to generate enough liquid mana to open a waygate! If you want to walk out of here alive, protect this generator with your life!”
They wanted nothing more than to get away from each other, but they could sense the approaching darkness-filled mana, and everyone started gearing up to fight as best they could.
Damian also opened up his supreme-grade spatial storage and took out as many runic tools as he could—there was no point in having them and dying. He threw a steel crown at Lifewarden, then gave a steel box to Worldscribe, a massive sword to one of the women who was a spellsword in neutral section, another set of adult-sized armor to Hellseeker, and even gave another steel cube to Silverspell.
Then he said, “The crown creates a thick four-sided air shield. The more mana, the stronger it will be. Lifewarden, stand beside me and use it when the Land Breaker closes in. Worldscribe, the cube has my light laser spell—it gets stronger the more mana it gets. The lady.. I don’t know your name.. Just check the sword out, and you will understand. Hellseeker.. the armor will release aura from all over your body. Same—use as much mana as possible to get the best effect. Silverspell.. Your cube has the wormhole spell. It will open whichever side you point, and the distance depends on the mana amount you put in. Stand beside Mindseer and save people before critical hits get them. She can also guide you to judge distance with mana output.”
They all nodded without any questions, even Silverspell quietly took the cube and added it to his own runic tools, as did the others.
The Sunkeeper suddenly spoke up. “No tools for us?”
Damian glared at them. “Just count your lucky stars that we didn’t leave you with him.. You would have been his food by now otherwise. Lifewarden and I saved your sorry ass! Now behave a little like a decent human and repay the fucking favor quietly!”
Bloodedge just nodded, taking out his sword. Sunkeeper was visibly angry though and was just about to say something when Damian suddenly ignored her and looked behind her.
“Worldscribe, use it!” Mindseer shouted, and in a few seconds, a massive 10-meter-wide laser beam shot at a figure flying at an unbelievable speed behind them in the dark of night. It was hard to say if it hit or not, as Damian flew the hoverboard through another wormhole and then another after it. They could only sense the mana in the darkness and see the red ominous eyes in the blackness of night. Land Breaker’s flight didn’t even make a single sound—as if their biggest nightmare wasn’t even real.
However, the very next moment, Mindseer screamed again. “Lifewarden! Protect him!”

Immediately, the second Damian went through the wormhole, Land Breaker was already in front of them and had swung his sword at full power. Damian pushed the hoverboard at the very last second to the side, but the blade still cut through half of it. All the Highswords jumped away from it. Their connecting wormhole streak had been broken—and as that damned voice had said—it hadn’t even been a full 10 minutes yet!
