The Unexpected Rise Before My Exit from the Entertainment Industry
Chapter 325: Pay Your Debts
Chapter 325
Qiao Sixiao closed her eyes, her face pale as a sheet, not moving at all.
In the ambulance, in addition to the beeping of the machines, there was the sound of Qin Wei crying:
"It's all because you always say nonsense. That time in the Southwest, saying things like 'It doesn't matter if I get injured, I'll pay to take care of you, and it doesn't matter if I die, I'll personally burn incense for you myself...'
Look what happens when you stick flags everywhere! Don't die on me! I don't want to burn incense for you..."
Seeing her like this, Qin Wei continued crying, looking at her while crying, with big teardrops falling, some landing on Qiao Sixiao's face, the blood pressure numbers on the monitor clearly rising.
"Can you shut up..."
Qiao Sixiao weakly opened her eyes and gently sighed. At this time she felt pain throughout her body, and the pain in her right wrist was especially acute. This feeling was familiar to her - it was a fracture.
Fortunately it wasn't her ribs, otherwise even breathing would be painful...
With difficulty she raised her left hand and used her fingertips to wipe away Qin Wei's tears, saying to her:
"In the past I even mocked you, laughed at you doing nothing those two years. I stabbed your heart with a knife. You must have cried like this often...I can't stand seeing you cry. You look so ugly when you cry...But the one who kept making you cry like this turned out to be me...
I'm sorry, I've wanted to say sorry to you for a long time..."
This made Qin Wei cry even harder:
"Wah...You're already talking like you're giving your last words! Do you think just saying sorry I'll forgive you? Do you know how much I make in a year? Go earn money for me!"
Qiao Sixiao released her hand and closed her eyes.
Qin Wei threw herself on top of her, weeping loudly, and a shrill alarm sounded from the monitor.
The waves on the screen flattened into a straight line.
"Teacher Qin!!! Can you be quieter???"
The accompanying doctor finally couldn't stand it anymore and glared at Qin Wei in protest,
"You knocked off all the electrode patches from the monitor."
Saying so, the doctor pushed her aside and reattached the electrode patches, restoring the normal readings on the monitor.
"The blood pressure rose...Teacher Qiao, calm your emotions, don't get agitated."
Seeing the various metrics gradually return to normal, the doctor advised.
"Mm..."
Qiao Sixiao responded softly, but her eyes remained closed,
"Stop the car at the roadside and throw her out...she almost made me take a trip to the brink of life and death with her yelling."
The doctor looked out the window. They were in the middle of the grasslands for filming, with endless stretches of grass as far as the eye could see.
"Or maybe throw her out at the gas station...if she gets lost out here, no telling if she might get carried off by wolves."
After all, a doctor's heart isn't made of stone. She stopped looking out the window and asked Qiao Sixiao's opinion.
"Mm..."
Qiao Sixiao responded.
"Mm?"
Qin Wei raised her head, looking at her with tear-filled eyes,
"Qiao Sixiao, do you have a heart? You're going to abandon me? Out in these desolate mountains and wilderness how will you..."
Qiao Sixiao: "Let the wolves carry her off...throw her out now..."
Qin Wei: "..............."
...
Forty minutes later, the ambulance arrived at the city hospital emergency room. Only medical staff and one accompanying person were allowed, so Qin Wei went with Qiao Sixiao's ID, while her assistant and agent had to drive over separately.
"At present, all I can say is the patient appears to be very stable, but further examination is needed to be sure. Let's take the patient in first, Ms. Qin please go handle the paperwork."
Injuries from falling off a horse can range from minor to serious. Although he had conducted an initial examination, the accompanying doctor didn't dare delay and gave Qin Wei a few simple instructions before disembarking to head inside, leaving Qin Wei standing there alone.
"Oh, oh, alright."
Qin Wei readily agreed, then became lost in thought.
How does one handle the paperwork for the ER?
"Family of Qiao Sixiao right?"
"Ah yes yes yes!"
Fortunately the nurse at the service desk called out for her, and Qin Wei hurriedly responded.
The nurse was taken aback for a moment, first thinking the incoming patient just shared the same name with the celebrity, what were the odds the accompanying family member would look just like the celebrity too?
Qin Wei cautiously asked her, "Do I sign here?"
"Yes, sign here then go pay over there, for the cost of the upcoming examinations."
Two thousand yuan...
Qin Wei breathed a sigh of relief holding the payment slip, luckily she wasn't so poor she couldn't even pay two thousand yuan.
After paying she headed towards the patient rooms, and her striking appearance coupled with the period costume drew quite a lot of attention as she hurried through the hospital halls, with many people even taking out their phones to photograph her, though she was too preoccupied to care and made a beeline for the monitoring room.
The crew doctor who had come along walked over and saw the lost look on Qin Wei's face, first reassuring her simply, then updating her on the situation:
"Based on my assessment, there shouldn't be major issues. However Ms. Qin, I'm quite impressed with your grasp of emergency knowledge and procedures. Not moving the injured before professional medics arrive on scene is correct, and your judgment and handling of her right wrist fracture was also right." (Note: Fictional, not intended as medical advice, please follow physician's orders)
She owed it to a friend who had insisted on teaching her. She had reluctantly learned a little. Never thought it would come in handy one day. If the doctor's words were true, Qin Wei made a mental note to properly thank that friend later.
Hearing from the doctor that it wasn't serious, Qin Wei felt much more at ease. Half an hour later Qiao Sixiao was moved into the monitoring room, with the doctor saying they needed to wait for the test results and keep her under observation for a day before making any judgments. As for the wrist injury, it wasn't major and since there was no dislocation the doctor recommended conservative treatment.
When Qiao Sixiao was wheeled into the room she clearly looked very tired already, her face pale as paper, appearing rather pitiful.
"Family member please sign here, then go pay for the medication."
The doctor handed her a form.
"Paying money again..."
Qin Wei took a look at the medication bill, eight hundred.
So expensive, unbelievable...
The doctor recognized her. "What, you celebrities don't have money?"
He then took out another chart, "Only one family member needs to stay here for the 24 hours. No issues then just sign again."
Signing was easy, but the contents of the risk disclosure were scarier than the last.
"Damn...do these scary things really happen?"
Qin Wei's writing hand paused slightly as she whispered to the doctor.
The doctor truthfully told her: "The patient is stable but these situations occurring can't be ruled out."
"I'll sign it myself..."
The person in the bed softly spoke, "I'm clear-headed right now with the capacity to sign. Don't let things go wrong later with He Hong [Qin Wei]..."
"Nothing will happen, shut your mouth!" Qin Wei glared at her before signing her name on the paper.
After getting the medication she returned to find that Qiao Sixiao's assistant still hadn't come. There was only her alone in the monitoring room, along with a bunch of machines whose names she didn't know.
"How much did you spend? Later when Assistant Wang brings my phone tell her to transfer it to you."
Hearing her come back with the medicine, Qiao Sixiao softly told her this.
She still didn't sound like she had much energy.
"Tsk! We're friends, five or six thousand yuan you don't need to pay me back...
On that note, I can't get through to Assistant Wang at all. It's been over an hour, how come she still hasn't shown up?"
Qin Wei pulled over a chair to sit at the bedside. First paying fees, then picking up reports, only now could she finally rest a bit.
Qiao Sixiao pointed at the bottled water on the bedside table, signaling for her to drink some to calm down. She then explained why the assistant likely wouldn't make it:
"She probably can't come anymore."
