Chapter 204: Appearing in the Nick of Time
There was a huge lake at the center of Penglai Island, which glittered like it were daytime with a nice breeze, despite the time being in the middle of the night at the moment.
There was already quite a group gathered around the lake at the moment. Members stood at different positions according to the group they belonged to.
Reserve members of some organizations were looking around from somewhere further away, looking as if they were able to act at any given moment.
The cultivators were all very wary of each other, especially so given how they were familiar enough with what the others were capable of.
Every single group seemed to be very formidable.
It was especially so in the case of the leader of the Ark of Heaven, Saint Peter, and the leader of the Association of Lore Seekers, Adam.
There were quite a number of Invincible Vajras in the ranks of the Ark of Heaven. All of them wore holy white robes, casting proud yet wary glances at all around them. One of them looked to be in his fifties. He was a typical European with blue eyes and blonde hair. One was able to tell from his aura that he was one of the most powerful of the lot, and he was none other than Saint Peter, the leader of the Ark of Heaven.
Those who stood across them were members of the Association of Lore Seekers, who all wore black robes. They looked as if they were shrouded in darkness, with a dark phoenix emblazoned on their robes.
Their leader was a Caucasian man with jet black long hair. He was of stout build and looked to be in his thirties at most. However, his aura was every bit comparable with that of Saint Peter. That man was none other than Adam. He was the leader of the Association of Lore Seekers.
Formidable fighters from agencies and institutions serving their respective nations flanked the sides of such formidable figures. The Amaterasu-gumi from Japan and the Cheongwahae from South Korea were considered some of the strongest among the lot.
While there were also some other fighters from other countries, their numbers remained small, and the difference was starkly apparent when compared to the abovementioned nations.
Cultivators from all nations worked together to kick out cultivators from Huaxia.
At the moment, the crowd immediately turned against each other after achieving their first shared objective.
There were quite a number of fighters from smaller countries feeling as if they were about to blackout just from the sight of so many other more formidable beings around.
An Invincible Vajra Level being would have reigned supreme among the many countries of Southeast Asia, and few in the region would even be able to fight them in the first place.
However, among the four major nations at present at the moment, even the Cheongwahae, which had the least number of Invincible Vajras, still had three among them. The numbers were even greater in the other three.
Those numbers alone showed how formidable their respective cultivation forces were.
The expression of everyone present became severe because all of them knew that it was about time for the ultimate showdown. No one had the patience to continue waiting because if they were to wait any longer, there would only be an increasingly high number of fighters flooding in from all sides.
There were more than enough formidable fighters at present, yet those were simply the ones who reacted the quickest. In truth, there was an even greater number of fighters on their way.
Due to the blockade put in place by naval fleets from many countries out there, a good number of fighters were still being barred from entering the island.
However, all of that would only delay the inevitable. If the ones present were to be able to get in, so would those out there as well.
There was only one Peach Tree of Immortality, and many thought that the peaches would suffice even if they were to be unable to claim the entire tree for themselves.
“Yikes, never thought there’d be so many around here. Can you really hold your own out here, master?” The master and disciple who ran into Lu Xuan before arrived near the huge gathering of fighters. The expression on their faces changed as soon as they caught sight of those fighters.
“Two of the top three in the world of cultivation are actually right here. Both of them are here, except for the Dragon.”
That shriveled old man stared at the group, his jaw agape.
While he was indeed confident of his own powers, he too knew that he was still no match for those three in a fight. The most he was able to do was simply to keep himself in one piece.
Other than those two, there were also a great many renowned, top-tier fighters out there.
“Other than those two who’re definitely huge troubles, there is also Matsuda Juuzaburo from the Amaterasu-gumi of Japan, and the strongest Taekwondo master of South Korea, Kim Min-jin, here, eh.” That old man was able to identify all those noteworthy fighters. However, the more he was able to identify, the more intense the chill he felt running down his spine. He knew very well what all those people were capable of, after all.
Any single one of them would be able to cause a huge commotion throughout a nation.
That disciple of his, who was by his side, behaved a lot meeker by then. She had seen too many capable fighters on her way there.
She would not have had any chance of meeting fighters of such caliber otherwise, and the rare chance of meeting such figures made her feel as if she was already among the strongest to be had in the world. However, she shuddered at the thought of it at the moment instead.
But then again, no one knew that there was a master and his disciple outside, and their existence was deemed pointless. Everyone had their eyes on the center of the lake, after all.
There was an even smaller island at the center of the lake, and there was a divine tree that glittered with rainbow lights and was dazzlingly bright at the center of that island.
There were two peaches about the size of a person’s hand on that divine tree.
The tree and the peaches were none other than the Peach Tree of Immortality and the Peaches of Immortality.
A man and a woman were sitting not far away from the tree itself. It was apparent that they were mending their injuries using the mystical wood qi emanating from that tree.
Both of them felt chills running down their spines constantly from being glared on by so many pairs of eyes at the moment.
“I never thought we’d meet again here, Dragon.” Adam wore a cold expression. He looked like he was some sort of emissary from hell walking among humans. He looked at both the Dragon and Ming Yueyao, who was patching up her boss. A hostile look was seen on Adam’s face.
Other than Adam, the leader of the Ark of Heaven, Saint Peter, was eager to try his hand out as well. The gaze with which he shot at the Dragon was one of intense killing intent.
The Dragon’s power was such that no common Invincible Vajra, even there were to be several of them, would have been able to injure him. Even if the Dragon were unable to win, he still would have been able to escape unscathed.
The ones who almost killed the Dragon and made him look so bad were none other than Adam and Saint Peter, as well as their subordinates.
If it had not been for Ming Yueyao and the agents of the Special Task Force putting their lives on the line, protecting the Dragon as he escaped, the Dragon might have perished quite a while ago.
While he was apparently not dead at the moment, he was evidently gravely injured.
That was why he was found sitting cross-legged from the Peach Tree of Immortality at the moment, relying on the qi emanating from the divine tree to heal himself.
However, he never thought that Adam, Saint Peter, and the others would find him there all the same.
Even Ming Yueyao looked rather despaired at the moment. No one would be able to save them during such a time, after all.
In that very tense moment, a man and two women seemingly appeared out of nowhere all of a sudden, standing near the lake.
“Huaxians!”
Everyone looked at the trio. The three of them were none other than Lu Xuan, Lu Shanshan, and Lin Miaoyi.
“She’s alive?” Adam looked at Lin Miaoyi. He vaguely remembered having taken her down, and, according to conventions, she should have been dead. Yet, there she was, alive and well.
Everything just looked too messed up at that moment.
