Chapter 711 - News From The Valente Fief

After Rutherford had revealed that the best option for Yvonne to be able to focus on her brainchild, CLOVER, was to complete a few of her classes which would give her more free time, the little girl had promised to do her best.

With this, the purpose of this meeting had come to an end.

Marcus patted her head, wishing her luck so that she might succeed both in her classes and the next step she was about to take for her business.

"You can ask us for any help you want, Vonny!" Knox offered with a wide grin and Roman nodded his head, agreeing with his younger twin's words.

Howard grumbled in his heart but felt relief when he thought of how the twins would be leaving in a week's time.

How would they be of any help when they wouldn't even be in the Capital?

This thought was reassuring to the young boy as once they leave, he would only have to be on guard against his persistent best friend and no one else.

Yvonne smiled before expressing her gratitude and accepting their offer.

Once their discussion had come to an end, everyone chose to return to their rooms.

Rutherford had a troubled look on his face which Marcus had noticed but before he could pry any further, that man had strode away.

This left the Viscount standing in the Parlor with curiosity brimming in his mind as he could discern that there was something this tall and muscular man was trying to conceal from them.

Sadly, he was the only one who had caught this strange behavior as none of the children had noticed anything odd.

Due to this, the twins left their father and accompanied their cousins to the floor where their rooms were located.

Jax had been standing outside the door and upon seeing his Boss stepping out, he hurried to follow her as they had yet to discuss his new role.

'And the salary that came with it.' He grinned from ear to ear, making the old Butler roll his eyes at this sight.

Butler Limo had heard what had taken place inside from Jax who repeated everything to him as soon as he had come outside.

The old man was like a mentor to him so Jax did not conceal anything from him.

While Jax wasn't too sure of what the job would entail, the old man had a better idea about it.

After all, he had been working with the Young Miss for a longer time and had known about her plans for CLOVER too.

Therefore, he wasn't too surprised to hear about this as the Young Miss had been looking for someone trustworthy for a while now.

So when he discovered that Jax was chosen for that role, he felt that it was the right decision.

It wasn't uncommon for Butlers to handle additional duties.

However, it depended on what their Master chose for them to look after.

For example, Butler Limo was given the responsibility of the Shadow guards that protected their family and even worked as their spy network.

Therefore, Jax focusing on CLOVER as assigned by his Master was not something strange to him as that was what they were supposed to do, help their Masters by easing their burdens.

'I have a feeling that he will fit right into the role.' Butler Limo smiled at the group of children walking away before turning around to head in the opposite direction.

Since the Earl was on his way to his bedroom now, there was no reason to follow him.

Instead, it was time for the Butler's routine inspection of the mansion to ensure that the servants were doing their duties without slacking.

Thus everyone was heading in different directions right at this moment.

___

Inside the bedroom of the Earl,

Rutherford entered the room but his Countess was nowhere to be found.

'Ah!' He exclaimed when he recalled that she must be with the Viscountess as they had chosen to give each other company rather than joining them for the meeting in the Parlor earlier.

Letting out a sigh, he sat on the bed while beginning to undress.

There was a lot of time left before dinner and he had used up a large portion of his energy today.

This morning he had headed to the Merchant's guild with Marcus and upon his return, he spent time with his family.

Later, after lunch, he and his wife had some time for themselves and once they were done engaging in their display of affection for each other, he headed to his office to complete his remaining tasks.

While Raylene got the time to rest, he continued to work until it was tea time.

As soon as that had come to an end, his beloved child had asked to speak, and only now did he get the chance to take a breath in relief.

Therefore, Rutherford decided to use this quiet time to rest before his wife returned.

Changing into more comfortable clothes, the Earl laid on his bed and in no time was fast asleep.

Thus he forgot to mention what had taken place during his discussion with Yvonne to his wife who had not yet returned to their room.

___

In another room which also served as a parlor but one which was rarely used, Raylene and Trisha had been discussing certain important matters which could not be mentioned before their children.

"So she never entered the Valente fief?" The Countess frowned after hearing everything her sister-in-law had revealed to her.

After the two ladies had decided to exempt themselves from Yvonne's request to meet in the Parlor, they arrived at this place that had been prepared for them.

Earlier, Trisha had mentioned that she wished to speak in private earlier, and only now did they get the chance to do so.

During the daytime where they were together, even then, Butler Limo and the other maids were accompanying them at all times.

Raylene did not know what her sister-in-law wished to say but after noticing the grave look on her face, she decided to set up a place for them to speak with ease.

Since the Butler would be away to fulfill his duties and the maids could be sent away as well, she chose this time and place for their meeting.

Once they were alone inside this other parlor, Raylene inquired what she wished to say and Trisha had not hesitated before placing everything before her.

The reason why Trisha was reluctant to mention this matter before the other servants was because it was regarding another servant of this mansion.

The servant who had been sent away after attempting to do something foolish and in the process had destroyed the relationship with their Mistress that had existed for many years.

The news that Trisha had brought for her was something she had received from her father-in-law.

Ever since they had heard from Raylene about the maid who had tried to seduce the Earl and climb into his bed in her absence, the old man of the Valente family had been furious.

He had been the one who had chosen the Nanny for his precious daughter and that Nanny's daughter was the personal maid she had accepted later on.

Old man Valente knew the reason why Raylene had chosen her Nanny's daughter to be her maid even when she wasn't too skillful in what she did.

However, his daughter was a kind young girl who did not wish to see her Nanny being sad and hence had declared Paula, the Nanny's daughter to be her maid.

Therefore, to hear that the same maid whose life Raylene had saved by giving her that job, was the one who tried to betray her, the old man was beyond furious.

To repay kindness with treachery was not something he tolerated.

He might have given his title to his son but the old man still had a lot of influence over the decisions taken for the fief and even had his own servants who would follow every command given to them.

Therefore, ever since he had heard about Paula's ingratitude and her vile actions, he had asked his men to look out for any signs of her return to their fief.

Valente was her native fief and while her mother may have died a long time ago, her father's family was still living in their land.

Thus he had sent his men out to find any trace of her in their fief and even stationed men at their borders to watch out for her arrival into their fief.

However, the news he received from his men was always a negative one.

They had been on the lookout for more than a year now and even then, no trace of Paula entering or exiting the fief had been found.

This was the news that the previous Viscount had asked his daughter-in-law to pass on to Raylene.

When Raylene had punished Paula, she had denounced her actions, breaking off their relationship as Master and servant before sending her away.

She was even kind enough to send her back to the Valente fief in a carriage which the Earl had reluctantly acquiesced.

However, that former maid had done something unexpected by escaping midway through the journey back to the Valente fief.

Rutherford had tried to look for her but it was as though she had vanished from the Capital without leaving any trail behind.

Now Raylene was hearing that the maid had not even headed towards the Valente fief which was baffling to her.

"Where could she have gone?" She muttered to which Trisha shook her head in reply as she too had no clue about that maid's current whereabouts.
