Trials of the Abyss

Chapter 394: The Long-Lost Black Turtle

Inside the flying fish vessel, Liu Youyu's eyes curved into crescents as a pure and serene smile tugged on her lips.

She seldom interacted with others and rarely bothered speaking with people she did not like.

Despite this, she was willing to talk with Pang Jian.

This was because the Celestial Profound Mirror acted as her personal "heart mirror." In other words, she could perceive the physical and mental conditions of others through its reflection.

Earlier, when the Celestial Profound Mirror illuminated Pang Jian, she not only saw the Netherworld Specter Karma Threads but also some other things.

Pang Jian's slaughtering of the hidden Rank Eight Ghost Race powerhouse in Brocade Cloud, Hong Qiming's death, and what she had witnessed in the mirror told her Pang Jian was far stronger than she initially thought.

Liu Youyu held out a dark cyan pill. "This pill can help you quickly replenish your spiritual sea. Your master gave it to me."

"Are you well-acquainted with him?" Pang Jian asked curiously.

"You could say that." Liu Youyu replied, dropping the pill into Pang Jian's palm.

"I've never met him," Pang Jian said in a low voice.

Checking his spiritual sea, he realized he had not actually depleted much of his spiritual power and did not take the pill.

Casually putting it away, he continued, "All my communication with him has been through the sword token."

"Little Junior Brother, when did you last communicate with Master?" Hu Yuanfei asked from atop her sword.

"It's been a long time," Pang Jian replied

Gripping the sword token on his waist, he informed her about Cheng Rutang's concerns that someone intended to obstruct Li Zhaotian's path to godhood.

Hu Yuanfei's face turned cold. "He's always insisted on taking it slow, but now that the Abyss is in chaos, he's become impatient.

"The Sword Pavilion has not gained the benefits of a True God's protection over the years. It's only natural for one of the existing True Gods to intervene when disturbances occur in the Abyss.

"None of the True Gods have perished so far, so why is he in such a rush to ascend?"

Hu Yuanfei seemed reluctant to see Li Zhaotian hastily attempt to ascend to the True God Realm.

"Before I came, a family member of mine told me that some True Gods will undoubtedly die in this catastrophe," Liu Youyu said in a hushed tone. "More than half of the True Gods will perish in the Abyss."

Hu Yuanfei's expression changed dramatically. "Is that true?"

"It's true," Liu Youyu affirmed.

"So more than half of the existing True Gods will fall." Hu Yuanfei's mood turned heavy, and she took a deep breath. "When did the situation become so dire? I never expected them the beings in the Fifth World to be so powerful."

Hu Yuanfei clearly knew who Liu Youyu's referenced family member was.

If that person had told her that, it meant the strongest figures of the First World had truly deduced that the fight against the foreign races could claim the lives of half the True Gods.

This also meant that many divine seats in the Abyss would be left vacant.

The limited number of divine seats meant it would normally take centuries or longer for a new True God to emerge.

However, a generational shift was inevitable this time, with new True Gods quickly replacing the old.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Massive meteors fell from the sky above the Sanctum of Godly and Demonic Genesis, crashing onto the continent hidden in the bizarre mist.

Zhou Yi—still holding the barely conscious Su Li—stared in astonishment as the meteors fell and attempted to communicate with Ling Yimo.

Whoosh!

Ling Yimo's divine soul appeared before him.

"The meteors come from the Third World," she explained. "When the remains of the Celestial Phoenix exploded and its bones scattered, the fragmented land where its remains rested fractured into a sea of massive boulders.

"This sea of massive boulders floated above the clouds bordering the Third World, but now, they've passed through them and fallen here."

With that, her image faded, and the once motionless Sanctum of Godly and Demonic Genesis started to move.

"Above this continent lies the sea of massive boulders in the Third World?" Zhou Yi's eyes flashed contemplatively. "The Celestial Phoenix was an incredibly powerful Spirit Beast, surpassing even that old Thunder Dragon.

"The sea of massive boulders where its remains rested is now descending onto the continent where the ancient Fey Race ruled.

"Could there be some special reason behind it?"

Boom!

A meteor fell from the sky and crashed onto a mountain range, causing it to tremble with rockslides.

A Divine Spirit Pagoda flew out from a pile of rubble, and a gaunt figure emerged from within.

Surveying his surroundings, Dong Tianze's expression turned grim as he took in the boundless bizarre mist around him,

"I can't believe I've ended up in the bizarre mist," he muttered. "But why is there a continent hidden in the bizarre mist of the Fourth World?"

Recalling the fragmented land hidden in the clouds, he had ventured to the sea of massive boulders where the Celestial Phoenix's remains rested to investigate.

He wondered if the surge of murky energy and the invading foreign races had affected that fragmented land.

Naturally, he could not find the Resolute Expanse, as it had long since departed.

While he was there, some unknown force had acted upon the massive boulders, causing them to crash down to the Fourth World.

Dong Tianze had been caught up in it and ended up in the dense bizarre mist as well.

Piloting the Divine Spirit Pagoda, he flew through the continent and saw the massive skeletons of many Vicious and Spirit Beasts.

"Beast bones, so many beast bones!" he cried.

One day, an enormous, avian skeleton came into view.

Whoosh!

The Celestial Phoenix Imprint on his brow flared.

The power still lingering within the massive avian's bones surged toward Dong Tianze's brow.

Fragments of knowledge streamed into the resplendent Celestial Phoenix Imprint like a rain of light. Dong Tianze felt like he had consumed an elixir of great vitality, rejuvenating him and bringing a radiant glow to his face.

In his eyes, this continent was akin to his sanctified land, and an unexpected sense of kinship welled up within him.

He sped onward with the Divine Spirit Pagoda.

When more giant avian skeletons came into view, he would absorb their power using the resplendent Celestial Phoenix Imprint.

The Outer Gods exterminated the ancient Fey Race.

The Fey Race were the original rulers of the Abyss!

The Celestial Phoenix was the most noble and pure-blooded of them all. It was the king of the avians!

Knowledge flowed from the Celestial Phoenix Imprint into Dong Tianze's mind, giving him a fresh perspective of the world.

Quietly accumulating his strength, he continued to refine his divine soul.

He never expected such a fortuitous encounter and wanted to make the most of it.

A continent was much larger than a fragmented land, and the group following the Flying Fish Boat had no idea that meteors were falling in another part of the continent.

They crossed over mountains, rivers, and dried-up lakes and seas.

With the skeleton of the Frost Dragon as their starting point, they had initially traveled forward until they reached the Sanctum of Godly and Demonic Genesis.

Then, having decided not to enter the sanctum, they decisively pressed on until they eventually reached the other end of the continent.

The Flying Fish Boat came to a halt at the edge.

Pang Jian's injuries had long since fully healed.

Spreading out his divine sense, he extended it forward until he sensed an invisible barrier.

"Ahead seems to be the boundary wall."

Below was nothingness—there was no solid ground.

Hu Yuanfei, Fan Chen, and the others came to a stop next to the Flying Fish Boat.

Nobody dared to leave the continent to hover in the nothingness.

Whoosh!

Liu Youyu took out her Celestial Profound Mirror and cast its light into the bizarre mist to see if there was anything hidden beyond.

After a moment, her expression changed, and she stared at the Celestial Profound Mirror in shock.

A black turtle had appeared in the mirror.

There was a colossal black turtle pressed against the inside of the boundary wall, seemingly using its power to push the bizarre mist back to reveal the hidden continent to the Abyss.

The sudden emergence of the continent was not due to natural forces—it was the work of the black turtle!

"It's the long-lost Rank Ten black turtle!" Liu Youyu exclaimed.
