Leonardo Aurelius stood as one individual alone in the group of four Overlords—only him actually committed to what he aspired Vampires to actually be.
He had done his best to adhere to what he believed in and hoped that it would start a fire anew for the future generations. A purging fire that could bring back their kind to their former glories and yet these other three Overlord stood in his path.
The head of the Argenti, Carmilla and even the Durand House were determined.
"This thing with the Vardoken House… I'm sure that it would have been impossible for the news of their existence to be hidden truly for the likes of you." Leonardo said. "You have eyes and ears everywhere, Heloise."
"We've always stood with each other before despite our differences, Leonardo. Why are you acting like this right now?" Heloise's gaze was disappointed. "You're nothing more but a brat compared to me, I know the situation better and have lived through it."
"Then what do you think is the good involving these two youngsters?" Leonardo said. "Can I truly believe you when you say that you simply wish to help them?"
"I've personally known Anastasius in the past." Heloise folded her hands behind her back. "While you were still in your youth and going off into your passionate wiles, I've learned how to protect our kind in our own way. It's quite hurtful that you throw such mean spirited words when it is not only me who has taken part in it."
"That's because—"
Something suddenly crashed and shook.
Heloise Carmilla's eyes widened. "Who is thrashing my abode?"
"Is it really that important right now?" the Argenti House Overlord spoke.
"I'm sure that Leonardo has understood the situation. Let's reconvene again later, shall we? I also don't want to miss the festivities happening outside."
Leonardo Aurelius didn't expect to have been able to get out of the room alive, especially after his temper and yet somehow he did.
"Come now. I'm sure that he only wants what's best for his family. That grandson of yours, Elias wasn't it? Delightful young man." Heloise called out as she pressed something in the wall and it parted open. It revealed a broken hole right in front of the hallway and her eyes narrowed.
ƥαṇdα- ηθνε|·ƈθm There was a trace of something in the air that she couldn't quite understand, but then she massaged her forehead. "I don't see why or how there's always people doing undelightful things during such joyous occasions. Surely the guards I've hired from the Durand House ought to have done a better job!"
Leonardo Aurelius stepped out of the room along with the other two Overlords.
It was easy to surmise that there was an equality between the four Overlords, each one checking up on each other to ensure that the power was split evenly among them but that hadn't always been the case.
Far from it and it showed.
The old man was left to himself as the three other Overlords disappeared into the hallway and a tired expression formed on his face.
It was a disaster.
"Grandfather!" a voice suddenly sounded from out of nowhere.
Leonardo Aurelius looked around the hallway at the sound of his grandson's voice but he was nowhere to be found. At least, until he looked at the end of the other hallway where Elias and Lukas stepped out of nowhere.
"What… what are you doing here?" Leonardo narrowed his eyes at the young man, but was suddenly engulfed into a hug by his grandson.
"I'm glad that you're safe." Elias said.
"Phew. Didn't think that would work, but luckily I've moved fast enough." Lukas asked Elias to go hide himself, and then he changed his appearance again before blowing up a hole into the wall and then Shadow Stepping before anyone caught him.
Either way, private property damage.
Lukas didn't think that he'd ever be the type to do such things, but there really was a first time for everything and doing it when he was a super-powered Vampire seemed like the perfect start.
He'd increased his mastery in the Physical Manipulation thing by a chunk and now had saved the grandpa of Aurelius boy.
Truth be told, Lukas didn't know if it was a good idea. His suspicion was that it was better to form a connection with the other three over the Aurelius House based on how the conversation started from earlier… but he couldn't at the moment.
As much as Lukas hated the attitude of Elias, it at least showed that he was the type to hold values and morals. The Vampire to actually care about other people while the others, he wasn't that much sure actually.
"So what exactly happened back there?" Lukas scratched his head.
"It's none of your business, boy." Leonardo said.
"Funny, your grandson said the same exact thing." Lukas bit back a grin, before his expression turned serious. "The Carmilla House, they're the ones who got in touch with my friends, the Vardokens. So I'd like to say that this incident is probably my business especially if I want to keep them safe."
"I don't understand either. What would have led to an argument between all of the four Houses. Unity between the Vampire Houses is the most important thing, you've taught me that, grandfather. Even with differences in opinion, we all stand together to protect our kind." Elias frowned.
"I… I suppose that is right. And that's what I've been telling myself all these years when I became the Overlord. Each settlement has their own secrets, but this is something that has entangled with all of the Vampire Houses for a long time now."
"As much as I appreciate the mystery vibe we're going for, it's gonna kill me if you just don't say what it is, sir Overlord sir." Lukas said.
Leonardo's expression grew dark but then he said it.
"Fraternizing with the enemy."
"What?" Lukas looked at him. "Humans?"
"Grandfather, you must be joking." Elias said, completely unconvinced.
