Villain Ch 1655. Abort

Inside the building, Mila and Vivian made their way quickly through the lobby toward the elevators.

Their heels tapped in rhythm against the marble floor, echoing in the wide, polished space. The modern lobby’s ceiling stretched high above them, glass chandeliers twinkling under the afternoon sun.

And yet, neither of them were really seeing any of it. Not with the way their hearts were still racing.

The tension between them finally cracked the moment they stepped into the elevator.

The doors slid shut, muting the outside world.

Mila was the first to speak, her voice coming out in a whisper-sharp exhale. “Viv…”

Vivian gave her a sideways glance, already knowing what was coming. “I know.”

Mila closed her eyes for a moment like she was trying to physically cool her pulse down. “That was… a lot.”

Vivian chuckled softly, letting herself lean against the mirrored wall of the elevator. “You’re telling me.”

“I mean,” Mila continued, dropping her voice even lower like the walls had ears, “he really is… something.”

Vivian’s cheeks flushed again, but she smiled. “Yeah.”

Mila peeked at her out of the corner of her eye, chewing the inside of her lip for a second before asking, quieter now. “Do you feel that pull too? Like… when he’s around, it’s hard to breathe?”

Vivian’s heart stuttered.

There it was. Spoken out loud.

Naked. Real.

But she didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”

Mila nodded slowly, giving a tiny smile.

The elevator chimed softly, doors gliding open with that gentle whoosh.

They both stepped out into the hallway. The quiet was immediate. The kind of office silence where everyone was tucked behind glass doors and soundproofed meeting rooms.

And that’s when Vivian froze.

Her stomach flipped, chest tightening.

Two figures were walking ahead of them.

Familiar.

Too familiar.

Liam. Darren.

Vivian’s breath caught in her throat. Instinct kicked in. She didn’t think—she moved.

Her hand shot out, grabbing Mila’s arm and yanking her sideways.

“Vivian?!” Mila squeaked as she stumbled with her heels clicking awkwardly against the tile.

“Shhh,” Vivian hissed, pulling her toward the first door she could grab—without even looking—shoving them both inside.

The door closed behind them with a soft click.

Both women stood there for a moment, breathing fast, barely making sense of where they even were.

But outside, Liam and Darren’s voices carried through the crack of the open doorway, just enough to hear.

“Good thing we managed to get the phones and all,” Liam was saying, voice casual but smug.

Darren grunted. “Yeah. We just need to get her laptop now. Or hack her system. Bell said he’s got his people handling it. I didn’t expect him to go for the dirty work himself.”

Liam let out a small laugh. “He’s a businessman. Sophia is trying to bring him down? That’s stupid. She had her chance.”

“Yeah,” Darren replied. “Once this is done, maybe we can finally go back to Elio’s guild again. I kinda miss those hunts. I’m tired of all this mess.”

Liam chuckled. “We’re not done yet. She’s not out until she’s in prison.”

The voices faded as the two men continued down the hallway, unaware of who was listening.

Inside the small room, Vivian’s grip tightened on Mila’s arm, her breathing fast.

“Oh my god,” she whispered, barely controlling the shaking in her voice. “Did you hear that?”

Mila’s eyes were huge. “Yeah. We need to tell my brother.”

Vivian shook her head sharply. “Allen first. We tell Allen first.”

Mila nodded quickly. “Okay.”

But as they were about to leave, ready to sprint straight to the elevators again—

A voice came from behind them.

Low. Male. Confused.

“Uh… excuse me?”

They both froze like statues.

Slowly, they turned their heads in sync.

And horror dawned on both of their faces instantly.

They were in the men’s restroom.

The man standing near the sinks stared at them with the most confused, slightly panicked expression—his hand half-raised as if unsure whether to run, apologize, or call security.

Vivian’s entire face went crimson. “Oh my God.”

Mila’s mouth opened, words scrambling in her brain. “We— we didn’t— this isn’t—”

The poor guy immediately threw both hands up like they were pointing a weapon at him. “Hey! Hey! It’s fine! I didn’t see anything! I didn’t even— you know— I’m not even sure you’re real right now—”

Vivian tried to breathe. Her heart was racing for an entirely new reason now.

Mila’s voice cracked, half whisper, half desperate plea. “We just— we didn’t know—”

“Honestly, it’s fine. I’m leaving,” the guy said, stepping carefully toward the exit like he was defusing a bomb. “I’ll forget this happened. You never saw me. I never saw you.”

Vivian’s brain screamed ‘Abort. Abort. Abort.’

She grabbed Mila’s hand like it was a lifeline. “Come on—”

And they bolted.

The door swung open wide as they rushed out, their heels tapping rapid-fire against the floor, cheeks burning, adrenaline pounding.

They didn’t stop until they hit the elevator again, practically smashing the call button with their fingers.

As the doors closed behind them, both of them finally exhaled at the same time.

Vivian let out a panicked laugh. “I think I’m going to pass out.”

Mila leaned against the wall, clutching her chest. “We’re not talking about this ever again.”

Vivian shook her head, breathless. “Agreed.”

“Men’s bathroom…” Mila groaned. “I wanna die.”

“Don’t worry,” Vivian said, forcing a weak smile. “Let’s survive this first and then we can die.”

The elevator doors finally opened at the lobby level.

Both girls practically ran through the lobby, their embarrassment now sharing equal weight with their sense of urgency.

They finally spotted Allen sitting calmly at the corner table of the café across the street.

The sight of him — composed, sipping his tea, like the entire world wasn’t spinning — somehow made them both feel safer and more embarrassed all at once.

Vivian’s heart was still hammering.

Mila’s face was still pink.

But both of them moved quickly toward him because no matter how flustered they were — this was something Allen needed to hear.
