Ji Yao turned to look at him with a look of puzzlement on his face but Rui Fei took a quick glance at Qilin Kai then back at Ji Yao before writing something in Ji Yao's palm. Rui Fei felt hot in his palm that he barely understood what he wrote. It was only after his intelligence went back online did he realise what he said which was, "Just a little longer."
Ji Yao, "..."
He tried to pull his hand back again but Rui Fei wouldn't let him. Rui Fei held on to that hand without letting go completely disregarding their current situation. This marked the beginning of a tug of war between the two, a tug of war happening behind Qilin Kai's back.
It was then that Qilin Kai managed to extricate himself from his memories. He placed down his bloodstained fist and looked up at these two who were looking at him with blank expressions like they weren't being held, hostage. At that moment Rui Fei was writing in Ji Yao's palm, "Your hand feels nice.."
'Crap,' cursed Ji Yao internally. How was he supposed to keep a straight face while Rui Fei was saying stuff like that?
Qilin Kai's eyes narrowed scrutinizing the two. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was up but none of that mattered because they would be dead soon enough anyway. He looked at Ji Yao with a look of mockery on his face. "You look like that fuckin old man..... and you probably behave like him too," he said lifting Ji Yao's chin with a sinister smile on his face.
Ji Yao clutched Rui Fei's hand even tighter. He had just calmed this feisty tiger only to have him riled up all over again by this idiot. Rui Fei couldn't handle this level of disrespect on his Yao-ge anymore. No amount of hand holding could cool him down no matter what. Well, unless maybe if it is a kiss. A kiss might do the job but there was no way it was happening right now.
It was because of such stimulation that the once chained up beast was slowly being let loose with the chains snapping one by one. A fleeting evil smirk appeared at the corner of Rui Fei's lip that Qilin Kai missed but not his creature that was hiding behind the door.
Startled it attempted to warn Qilin Kai only to be met with a death stare that could freeze hell over. It found itself frozen on the spot unable to speak. If looks could kill it would have been a frozen stiff corpse by now. Rui Fei didn't need to glare at it any longer, the message had already been sent across.
Ji Yao was half listening to Qilin Kai's bitching because he was glimpsing over at that creature. He saw Rui Fei staring at it in his peripheral view and misunderstood why he was looking at it.
If that tiny thing could paralyze both of them then it could also paralyze that Hundun still wreaking havoc outside. Struck by sudden inspiration he wrote something in Rui Fei's palm. Rui Fei stared at him from the corner of his eye and the two had some kind of tacit understanding.
They just had to wait for the perfect opportunity and lucky for them it didn't take long for that opportunity to come up. The Hundun that had caused so much trouble finally brought trouble home. It bashed against the side of the mountain shaking Qilin Kai's lovely home. Half the wall had crumbled leaving the space wide open to the world.
Qilin Kai was so immersed in whining about Qilin Hao that he didn't keep track of his pet. As soon as that beast shook the mountain Ji Yao got up, grabbed the creature and jumped off the crumbled wall. He landed on his back with the creature rolling off a few feet away.
But just as he tried to get up Rui Fei who had followed behind landed right on top of him. It's a good thing he had slowed his momentum otherwise he would have crushed Ji Yao like a tiny bug.
At this point, Ji Yao would have prefered it if Rui Fei crushed him like a bug instead of this ambiguous position they were currently in. Rui Fei was right on top of him with his lips on his cheek right in the middle of a battlefield. It's a good thing the Hundun was raising dust otherwise everyone would have witnessed their sort of first kiss..... on the cheek.
"You did it on purpose didn't you?" said Ji Yao pushing Rui Fei. Rui Fei felt his heart sink being accused of something he didn't do. Yes, he liked the kiss though he wished it was a few inches to the right but it was an accident.
Ji Yao strode over to the creature that was a few feet away as he drew his sword. The creature looked a hot mess trying to crawl away with a broken leg.
Ji Yao pointed the tip of his sword at its neck just as it decided to release the gas from earlier. Caught off guard the creature clenched its sphincter in fright. It held up its hands looking all pathetic but Ji Yao wasn't buying it.
"You dare fart and I will kill you faster than you can release..... Go ahead and try me," said Ji Yao a little peeved and taking it out on this creature that had nothing to do with it. He was peeved because of the kiss on his cheek that was still lingering on his skin despite the cool wind blowing the warmth away.
How was that not on purpose? How convenient for Rui Fei to happen to land right on top of him and... kiss him. What are the odds of that? The creature also seemed to know this attitude over here had nothing to do with it and it had been caught up in a lover's quarrel.
Rui Fei caught up with Ji Yao and tried to explain himself but the unconcealed joy on his face made things worse. He couldn't help it. This was his first kiss, granted it was on the cheek but it was still a kiss. It seemed wishes do come true.
"It wasn't on purpose I swear," he said but oh, that smile just killed it. Ji Yao didn't believe a word he said.
Since Rui Fei was losing he decided to go the shameless route by saying, "You can kiss me back then we can call it even."
Ji Yao, "....."
One word, shameless.
