From cavemen days to modern times even interstellar times men have always been either thrown out of the cave or kicked out of the bedroom to sleep on the couch when they upset their wives. Such is normal ecology.
Why would someone want to sleep beside someone who irritated them the entire day? But as soon as they coax their wives they would reap the benefits of makeup sex which is intense and passionate compared to regular sessions. Well, such is the science of married life.
But Ji Yao wasn't even part of the married life but he was getting kicked out and most certainly won't reap the benefits of makeup sessions after coaxing. He was honest in his answer and promised to control himself when he sees something he shouldn't but Ji Yao wasn't convinced.
He himself knew he couldn't help but take a second look if he saw Rui Fei undress so how could he trust Rui Fei not to be tempted as well. For the sake of national security, there was a great need to separate these two which meant there was no room for negotiation.
"Now stop making trouble," said Ji Yao before his gaze fell on the blue keystone shimmering under the candlelight. Rui Fei was told to let it go but he wasn't resigned. He kept staring at Ji Yao with a pitiful gaze like a puppy begging for a treat but his companion wouldn't take pity on him. As though he had guessed Rui Fei's mind he said, "You can keep staring at me like that but I won't change my mind."
'Damn it!' he cursed in his heart as he averted his eyes. He knew he needed to step up his pitiful game otherwise he will keep suffering heavy losses. Thinking about what Qilin Kai said previously he decided to poke that hive and see what comes out.
Whether it be bees or hornets that came out he will deal with the consequences later. He lay his head on the table with his crossed arms cushioning him. Staring at Ji Yao again he asked in a mosquito-like voice, "Is it because I am not a man?"
Ji Yao, "..."
"Yes," he answered not even willing to save Rui Fei some face. Cut throat and straight to the point. His words stabbed right into Rui Fei's heart striking his sore spot. He really shouldn't have asked a question he didn't want an answer to.
For once he shut his mouth for a very long time that Ji Yao wasn't certain if he was upset or he was sulking. He was both truthful and deceptive. What he meant to say was that Rui Fei wasn't mature enough for his decisions concerning love, life and future to be trusted. He didn't want Rui Fei to regret it later. One year and some months were enough for Rui Fei to think his decision through.
Ji Yao tried to ignore the unusual silents as the keystone hovered midair between them. His seraphic energy circled the keystone eager to penetrate its hard shell and explore inside. Some form of appendages would occasionally touch the surface of the keystone before trembling in excitement.
"I am going to give it a try," he said to Rui Fei before injecting his seraphic energy into the keystone. Ji Yao's sullen expression turned wan as he hesitated to stop him. He wasn't certain what Ji Yao would meet in there and couldn't help but worry. He wished he could do it for him but before he even had the chance to bring forth the idea Ji Yao's consciousness had already attached to the keystone.
It shone brightly with a slight stream of red light floating within the sea of blue. When Ji Yao opened his eyes again he found himself in a vast field of green with pretty flowers scattered all over the hillside.
This place looked like what people would imagine paradise to look like. At the far end of the plane was a roaring waterfall sparkly under the warm sunlight.
Ji Yao was a little vexed because the previous times he entered a keystone he normally would seek out the brightest one and touch it to find its location but this time things were different. He just fell into this beautiful place as soon as he entered.
This made him wary of this space. Beautiful things normally wouldn't happen at a place like this. Two of the keystones were either in a psycho's hands or in a place filled with an ominous air. Something was definitely off about this place.
Ji Yao got up from the comfortable grass that felt as comfy as a cushion and started walking towards the waterfall. The place was tranquil and soothing making it the perfect place for him to relax and paint with no interruptions.
In slow strides, he walked over to the waterfall his mind a mess. None of this made sense and the fact that he didn't know what to expect put him on edge. While walking across the field a breeze blew by and carried with it the sound of joyous laughter.
His steps paused as he listened for the direction from which the sound was coming. Ji Yao silently stood there with his eyes closed trying to sense the presence of vital life forms but he couldn't find any.
This had his heart racing as he tightly clenched the hilt of his sword. The breeze blew by again and the sounds of laughter it carried with it had grown louder. This time he could hear clearly. The voice was so familiar to him because he heard it every single day for the past eighteen years.
His brow furrowed as he unsheathed his sword walking towards the waterfall. He knew his father wasn't here so someone or something had to be playing tricks on him. If there is one thing he hated the most, it was these cheap tricks.
Prepared to tear down this act of trickery he strode over with his sword in hand ready to attack. But when he reached the waterfall his steps faltered before he abruptly stopped.
On the side of the clear blue stream, there was a table with lots of sweet food most of them his favourite. Ji Wen was sitting beside Qilin Hao looking relaxed as he fed her an osmanthus cake.
Ji Wen let his long curly hair hang loose. It was brushing against his shoulders as he fed Qilin Hao their faces beaming with joy. This two-person world filled with happiness was something Ji Yao had never seen before and dreamt of when he was a kid.
He had faced his miserable drunk father in the early years of his life and wished he could bring back his mother so his papa can be happy again but it never happened.. He tried every available method to make a wish but his wish never came true.
