Chapter 1380: Infinite Quiver
Puchi!
An indigo, flaming cone pierced through Copper Spear’s neck and deleted the rest of his HP. The man was a formidable character in Purple Grape City and famed as a top expert of his generation, but that meant nothing before the sharp edge of the Chill of the Nine Provinces. Moreover, he had died after he was inflicted with Chains of Freedom, meaning that his level would drop by 10 and his equipment drop rate would be increased by 300%.
Pop pop pop...
When Copper Spear’s knees touched the ground, items exploded like fireworks from his body. There were potions, equipment, cards; this man wasn’t holding back at all. I could’ve believed that he would give me his guts if it was a droppable item. A guest from afar was still a guest, and this one was so generous that even I was feeling a tad embarrassed!
The surviving Era of Strife players couldn’t believe what was happening. Ten thousand men, and yet they had fallen to our one thousand Dragonlight Cavalrymen like flies. Of course, the main reason we were so successful was because our sneak attack was perfectly timed and placed. My Xuanyuan Art was also a great demoralizer on any battlefield. Finally, their leader, Copper Spear, was dead, and that was the final push needed to drive the survivors to stop struggling at all. Of course, they wouldn’t have survived even if they struggled with all their might. Right now, the Dragonlight Cavalry was a godlike army that even the Gold Cavalry couldn’t withstand, much less the Fire Scale Cavalry.
I picked up the equipment Copper Spear had dropped. He’d had 10 pieces of equipment on his person, and he dropped 4 of them in one go. There was an Archean Immortal-grade longblade, an Immortal-grade chest armor, a top-tier necklace with 11% lifesteal, and a ring with 7% lifesteal. That put Copper Spear just 2% behind my Chill of the Nine Provinces’ lifesteal prior to him dying. Unfortunately, Copper Spear was born under an unlucky star, and not only did he die before he even got the chance to hit me, he lost both of his build-defining lifesteal accessories.
I tossed the Immortal-grade weapon and chest armor directly into Tiger Leopard Knight’s hands and said, "Here, give these to the hyenas and make them roll for it. The ring and necklace are better, so I’m going to give Heaven’s Rain the necklace and the ring to you. Of course, it will cost guild contribution points!"
Tiger Leopard Knight nodded. "I know. Thanks, Lu Chen!"
"Just checking, but you have 90k guild contribution points right?"
"Yeah. No problem!"
"Very well!"
After I gave away the equipment, I immediately made my way back toward the Sovereign Rank boss. Tiger Leopard Knight and the rest of the Dragonlight Cavalry should be able to take care of the remaining two to three thousand Era of Strife players by themselves. Despite our victory, we were now on a timer—I reckoned that we only had 10 minutes at most—because our coordinates had been exposed to the enemy. Copper Spear would definitely send more men after us, and the best way to render his efforts useless was to kill the boss and secure its loot as soon as possible.
……
Thud!
The second I returned to the battlefield, I activated Fusion Armor and brought down my sword at the boss from above. Universe Break tore right through Shatter Queen Lin Qian’s chest armor and revealed her humongous, ton-weight breasts. Heaven’s Rain and Beiming Xue immediately exclaimed in admiration, "So huge…"
I shouted while stealing the threat from Heaven’s Rain, "Not the time! Heaven’s Rain, back away now! You only have 15% HP left!"
Then, I threw the necklace into her hands and added, "This one’s yours!"
Heaven’s Rain’s beamed the moment she saw that it was a necklace with 11% lifesteal. She chirped happily, "Thank you, vice leader big bro! I love you!"
However, I was too busy being slapped around by the boss to be infected by her cheer. After enduring three devastating sword strikes, I swore, "What the fuck? Why is the boss's Attack so high all of a sudden? I was only gone for a couple of minutes!"
Beiming Xue giggled. "It’s because she activated the skill ‘Rage of the Ruler of the Earth’ after her HP fell below 20% and increased her damage by 20%. That was why Heaven’s Rain was almost one-shot just now. Be careful, big bro!"
"Yeah!"
I activated Battle Astral Wind and Ghost Deity Shield at the same time. Even for a boss, one-shotting me was no easy feat, not to mention that at least a hundred priests were healing me non-stop. It would take some pretty godly crits and unfortunate timing for the boss to kill me.
……
Nine painful minutes later, Shatter Queen Lin Qian’s HP finally dropped to just 1%. A Sovereign Rank boss was slightly stronger than an Ancient Immortal Rank boss, and weaker than a Divine Rank boss. The fact that I with 100 priests healing my butt was still pushed to this extent was the proof of her strength. Had I tried to tackle this boss with our usual 7-man party—me, He Yi, Lin Yixin and the rest of the girls—we would’ve been wiped countless times already. As I thought, this March of Chaos patch could only be tackled with big parties.
"Here I go!"
Once my cooldowns were ready, I abruptly unleashed a five-skill Burning Blade Slash + War Crush + Myriad Swords Obliteration + Summon the Storm + Rise of the Guardian Dragon combo. The first two skills were melee, so I couldn’t execute a third without waiting for at least 6 seconds. But it didn’t matter, because the latter three skills were AoE skills and thus didn’t fall under the same limitation. When the five-skill combo deleted Shatter Queen Lin Qian’s final vestiges of HP, and as she let out her death throes, she glared at me and said, "I loathe the fact that I couldn’t meet you sooner, brave warrior. You may have become our king and my husband…"
I trembled like a leaf. "Can I not?"
Boom!
With that parting words, Shatter Queen Lin Qian collapsed on the ground and triggered a system announcement—
Ding~!
System Announcement: Congratulations to player "Broken Halberd Sinks Into Sand" for killing the Sovereign Rank boss, Shatter Queen Lin Qian! He has gained 2 Luck, 200000 Reputation, 50000 March of Chaos contribution points, and the ultimate treasure Shatter Queen Lin Qian was carrying, "Infinite Quiver (Seventy-two Ghost Armaments, Outstanding★★★★★★★★)"!
……
"Holy shit!"
After the involuntary shiver of shock had passed, I hurriedly looked over the boss's body and found a blood-red quiver on the ground inside her thighs. As I picked up the shiny equipment and brought up its stats screen, everyone around me started gulping down their saliva—
Infinite Quiver (Seventy-two Ghost Armaments, Outstanding★★★★★★★★)
Type: Off-hand, can be equipped together with a bow
Agility: +2340
Stamina: +2500
Strength: +2440
Intelligence: +1800
Tactics: +100
Ghost Armament: Continuously produces God Domain Arrows. A player with this quiver can shoot an infinite amount of God Domain Arrows.
Passive: Increases user's max HP by 50000
Level Requirement: 230
Reputation Requirement: 500000
……
Heaven’s Rain’s face was flushed with excitement. "Ohh… a Ghost Armament that removes the need to carry arrows completely? That’s insane! An archer with this item will no longer have to fill half their bags with arrows…"
Beiming Xue added. "I know right? High-grade arrows are crazy expensive too. The fletchers all came from Africa, so…"
I let out a laugh before raising the Infinite Quiver into the air. "As you can see, this is an archer-specific Ghost Armament! Since Beiming Xue has the highest guild contribution points out of all the archers here, we’ll give this to her at the cost of 250k guild contribution points! Is that okay with everyone?"
There weren’t many archers in our party to begin with, much less one with Beiming Xue’s amount of guild contribution points. Plus, she was the most suitable person in the entire guild to use this Ghost Armament, so no one raised an objection as a matter of course. When the Infinite Quiver appeared in Beiming Xue’s bag, blood-red-colored arrows suddenly manifested inside its empty space. Beiming Xue grabbed one of the arrows, inspected it and let out a cry of pleasant surprise, "Oh! No wonder it’s called a God Domain Arrow. This arrow adds 150 base Attack, which is even better than those ridiculously expensive 100-gold-per-quiver arrows from Sky City that only add 100 Attack!"
I smiled. "Well, looks like your expenditures just went down considerably, so our next next treat is on you, okay?"
"Of course, big bro!"
……
I crouched down and inspected the rest of Shatter Queen Lin Qian’s loot. She was a Sovereign Rank boss, the Ghost Armament couldn’t possibly be the only loot she dropped. After I found what I was looking for, I shared the stats screens in the party channel—
Oersted Spear: Level 220 Archean Immortal-grade spear, Attack +187%, Defense +70%, may trigger a 50% attack speed bonus.
Armored Tiger Plate Armor: Level 220 Archean Immortal-grade chest armor, Defense +105%, max HP +30000
Profound Desolation Ring: Level 220 Ancient Immortal-grade ring, Attack +90%, 15% lifesteal, cannot be stacked
Green Field Robe: Level 220 Ancient Immortal-grade magic robe, buff effectiveness and healing effectiveness are increased by 30%. Exclusive to bards.
……
The Oersted Spear was rolled away by a Dragonlight Cavalryman, and both the Armored Tiger Plate Armor and the Profound Desolation Ring were rolled away by Heaven’s Rain. Of the three items, the Profound Desolation Ring was the strongest because of its high stats and 15% lifesteal. The girl said that she was going to gift it to Diamond Dust as her birthday gift. As for Heaven’s Rain herself, the 11% lifesteal necklace was already enough for her to increase her lifesteal past 20%.
The Green Field Robe was a classic bard item, so I gave it straight to Pure Love after deducting an appropriate amount of guild contribution points.
The rest of the loot was decided via dice rolling as well. While it was absolutely cruel to allow only the Top 10 players (in terms of guild contribution points) of their respective classes to participate in the dice roll, the rule also motivated everyone else to grind even more guild contribution points. It was why our guild had over 90% attendance rate every time there was a large event. No amount of hardships was too much as long as there were guild contribution points to earn...
……
While this was going on, Beauty Lin, He Yi, Stranger of Three Lifetimes, Purple Marquis, Gui Guzi and more had all sent me a congratulatory message: Besides that, Beauty Lin also warned me about two things: one, Copper Spear had declared our coordinates to the entire world in the forums and mobilized every Purple Grape City player to hunt me down. Two, Little Piglet had entered the Ancient Chaotic Secret Realm map as well.
This map had 10 Sovereign Rank bosses in total, and they could potentially drop one of the Twelve Divine Armaments. I had no doubt that this map would become the gathering spot of countless guilds, and that conflict was inevitable. That was fine though. I still had over 10000 Ancient Sword Dreaming Souls elites under my command. If necessary, I could also rally 100000 elites in under an hour. There was no one we feared in a head-to-head battle.
……
While staring into the rain and wiping the raindrops on my face, I ordered, "Alright, it is time to move on and continue doing battle against the dogs of the Purgatory Legion. We shall live and die for honor and contribution points…"
Heaven’s Rain raised an eyebrow. "That is true, but it’s a bit too direct, don’t you think?"
Me: "..."
Suddenly, we heard the sound of mechanical springs from up ahead of us. It wasn’t long before we saw a bunch of minotaurs dragging pitch black machines across the plains. I almost couldn’t believe that we had run into the Purgatory Legion’s siege troops.
I broke into a grin and said, "What incredible luck! Prepare to raid the Purgatory Legion’s supplies, people!"
However, Beiming Xue shuddered visibly and asked me, "The supplies undead creatures need are either rotten corpses or animal innards. Are you sure you want to raid them[1]?"
