Seeing that the Bending River Axe Sect disciples were hellbent on violence, Lin Mu sighed and gave up.
"Fine. Let's end this quickly." Lin Mu uttered.
The first attacker lunged forward, his crescent axe swinging in a deadly arc. Lin Mu caught the handle mid-swing, his fingers clamping down like a vice. With a swift twist, he wrenched the weapon from the disciple's grip, using sheer brute force before driving his knee into the man's gut.
The impact was devastating, the force of the blow reverberating through the disciple's body. He let out a strangled gasp, blood spurting from his mouth as he crumpled to the ground, unconscious before he even hit the dirt.
The second fighter, wielding a heavy mace, took advantage of the opening and brought it down toward Lin Mu's ribs. But Lin Mu sidestepped at the last second, effortlessly evading the attack.
He caught the disciple's wrist in midair, his grip like an iron shackle. With a sharp, merciless twist, he snapped the man's wrist, forcing him to release the weapon. Before the disciple could react, Lin Mu's elbow smashed into his chin, the force rattling his skull. His eyes rolled back as he collapsed in a heap.
The remaining two disciples, seeing their comrades incapacitated in mere seconds, roared in fury and charged him simultaneously from both sides, hatchets flashing. Lin Mu's expression remained cold and unyielding as he raised his hands. His palms, now encased in a rock-like armor, met their weapons head-on.
CLANG! CLANG!
Sparks flew as the hatchets rebounded off Lin Mu's hands, their deadly edges unable to even scratch the hardened armor.
"What?!" The two disciples' eyes widened in shock.Their weapons were strong enough to cleave through steel, yet they had been stopped so easily. Before they could react further, Lin Mu retaliated. Summoning the Searing Sparrow Darts, he fired two blazing projectiles straight at their chests. The fiery darts exploded on impact, sending both disciples flying backward, their weapons torn from their grasp as they slammed into the ground with burning pain searing their bodies.
Jilin Tu's face twisted in disbelief. "You—! Junior brothers!" His voice cracked with anger as he watched his fellow disciples fall one by one. "You dare injure more disciples of the Bending River Axe Sect?! Your crimes know no bounds!"
Lin Mu scoffed. "Pot calling the kettle black."
Before Jilin Tu could react, Lin Mu blurred forward, closing the distance between them in an instant.
"Your turn." Lin Mu's voice was a whisper in the air before his fist shot forward.
Energy swirled around his arm as he executed the Boulder Collapsing Fist: Impact. His knuckles buried themselves deep into Jilin Tu's chest with bone-crushing force. The core disciple was lifted off his feet, sent hurtling across the courtyard like a ragdoll.
A sickening crunch echoed through the air as his ribcage shattered. Blood spurted from his mouth, accompanied by the unmistakable clatter of several teeth hitting the ground.
Lin Mu had deliberately restrained his power, using only one percent of the technique's output. Had he not held back, Jilin Tu's body would have exploded on impact. Even so, the damage was catastrophic, and the battle was over before it had even begun.
Lin Mu exhaled, dusting off his illusory robes. "A waste of time."
Without sparing the defeated disciples another glance, he turned and walked away, his steps unhurried and indifferent. The battered and broken warriors lay sprawled on the ground, groaning in pain, no longer even able to glare at him.
The spectators from the Great Orchard Library were left slack-jawed.
"What… what just happened?!" one of the staff members stammered.
"He… he defeated a core disciple and four inner disciples of the Bending River Axe Sect just like that?" a patron whispered in disbelief.
"Aren't core disciples supposed to be Fourth Tribulation Stage immortals? They're supposed to be stronger than most cultivators at that level due to their combat training. And those four inner disciples—weren't they all Third Tribulation Stage?"
The murmurs quickly turned into a heated discussion.
"Did anyone sense his cultivation base?" someone asked.
"It seemed to be at the Third Tribulation Stage," one of the library staff members guessed.
"What a joke! If he's only at the Third Tribulation Stage, then I'm a Qi Refining Realm rat!" another visitor scoffed.
"Yeah, no way. He should be at least Fifth Tribulation Stage to dominate them like that," another person speculated.
"Why are we even guessing? Just ask the staff! He was a VIP in the library. They should have his information, right?"
As soon as someone suggested that, a group rushed toward the library's reception desk, bombarding the staff with questions.
"Who is he?"
"Where did he come from?"
"Which noble clan or sect does he belong to?"
The poor staff member who had greeted Lin Mu earlier found himself overwhelmed.
"Forget asking! Just check the register!" an excited onlooker suggested.
The crowd surged forward, pushing past the struggling staff. One particularly eager man—who had been discreetly following Lin Mu from the fourth floor—took the opportunity to grab the registration log.
"Wait! You can't do that!" one of the librarians protested, but it was too late.
"Got it!" someone shouted triumphantly. "His name is Lin Mu… There's no Lin Clan in the city. And…" The reader paused before sucking in a sharp breath. "He has a VIP card from the Ten Petal Company?!"
"Ssss! The Ten Petal Company?! Don't they only give VIP cards to major spenders?" someone gasped.
"Yeah! Those cards can't be obtained unless you've spent tens of thousands of high-grade immortal stones! And even then, they're only given to cultivators with power and influence."
"But this doesn't confirm his sect or affiliation. The Ten Petal Company's VIP card can be obtained by anyone who has money."
"At the very least, he doesn't seem to be from a noble clan. He's probably from an immortal sect."
Having learned this, the crowd quickly dispersed, each eager to be the first to spread the rumor of Lin Mu's overwhelming strength.
