Chapter 2684 A Nightmare For Ram Orchard City
A thousand thoughts went thought Meng Bai's mind. He wondered about who Lin Mu really was and how he obtained such strength.
He also wondered how he could oppose an elder of an immortal sect with such ease. Not only did he defeat them, he essentially slaughtered them. This was a grave offense and would bring about the wrath of the entire sect upon him. Yet he did not seem the least bit concerned.
If anything he seemed angry about the fact that they had dared to come here.
Of course, Meng Bai had no idea that the level of foes Lin Mu had faced in his life far exceeded that of some random Immortal Sect. An average cultivator might have been scared to death, but to Lin Mu they didn't even compare to a single wave of Chimeric Beasts that he had fought.
But Meng Bai did understand something now.
'So this is what he meant by the hardships we would have to face and enemies that might come for them.' Meng Bai thought. 'If he can deal with them in such a way without fear, then why do I need to fear?' he realized, a determined expression appearing on his face.
"I merely need to focus on getting stronger so I can stand alongside Master and not be a burden." Meng Bai muttered to himself.
Lin Mu didn't know of the boy's thoughts, but even if he didn't there wasn't much for him to do. This was something Meng Bai was bound to face eventually. It had merely come a bit earlier for him than expected. But such a disturbance was not something Lin Mu would tolerate, which was why he intended to address it.
He flew to the Ram Orchard city with the mass of body parts and torsos flying behind him.
He landed at the gate of the city, stunning the guards.
"Who…" But the guards couldn't even bring themselves to say more than a single word.
The aura that Lin Mu was emitting was far too terrifying.
'What are those behind him… bodies? Heavens! Arms, legs and corpses!?' The guard felt like his heart was about to jump out of his chest.
GROAN
"Augh…"
"Aha…"
"Eel…"
The cries and groans of the Inner Court disciples of the Bending River Axe sect that were still alive could be heard.
Lin Mu hadn't killed them all as he had merely severed their limbs. Losing a single limb was usually not enough to kill an immortal, and even if it did, they would still have their Nascent Souls. But it did give them immense pain that they couldn't handle.
After all, they were mere greenhouse flowers that had never been in a real battle or war. The most they would've suffered were a few wounds or broken bones in their spars.
Hell, many of them hadn't even gone through a beast tide thus they were not tempered to the extent Lin Mu was.
In fact among them perhaps only two Inner Court Disciples might be worth something along with the Elder. The Elder might have been defeated by Lin Mu in an instant, but that was mostly because he was overwhelmed by Lin Mu as he had gone all out right at the start. Usually he would hold back but knowing that Meng Bai was there made the situation tense.
He didn't wish for Meng Bai to be harmed accidentally so he acted quickly.
Especially considering how the Elder had managed to break the barrier.
If he could break that, he would most certainly be able to break the rooms that Lin Mu had made even with the arrays.
This was not to say that the barriers were weak, it was simply that they weren't made to take a full force attack of a Fifth Tribulation Stage Immortal realm expert. Lin Mu never expected someone like that to attack in the first place. Even in the case of beasts of the Ram Orchard Forest, they wouldn't usually come this far.
And even if they did, they would be wary of the Beast Repelling Array that Lin Mu had set up. In fact, what had been more effective on the Elder and the disciples had been the isolation array. Lin Mu didn't know but they had been searching for Lin Mu for nearly a day and had gone past his courtyard several times. It was only when the Elder sensed that something was wrong that he fully focused on finding an array and ended up discovering its presence.
As such he launched an attack directly and destroyed the barrier even if he couldn't see it.
Lin Mu could have most certainly set up a better barrier but that would take a long time as well as more resources. For a courtyard that was meant to be their temporary residence, he didn't intend to put in too much of an effort. But now he knew he was wrong.
But that was a thing for later, as he had another important task to do.
He walked through the gates of the city, the guards unable to even move and entered the main road.
He seemed calm as he walked but his aura was anything but calm. This was noticed by the many people that were present on the street. The groans and cries of the Inner Court disciples attracted their attention rather easily.
"What the…"
"Who's that?"
"What's that behind him!?" "CORPSES!"
Lin Mu looked like a demon that had wandered into the city to reap lives at this moment. The grisly mass of corpses and body parts behind him only added to the terror and many weak hearted people simply collapse to the floor in shock.
No one spoke a word after that as the atmosphere grew oppressive.
They held their breaths and averted their eyes, fearful that they might become the next addition to the flesh sphere.
Thankfully for them Lin Mu didn't intend to go far as he soon stopped after a short distance.
