Chapter 2767 Lady Yeon
But after listening to this, Lin Mu thought of another question.
"Is Lady Yeon's status truly so high that she can use this palace?" Lin Mu inquired.
"Haha, if Lady Yeon wished, the Emperor might even allow her to host this banquet in the Imperial Grand Palace itself," Junior Elder Wang laughed.
Lin Mu and Daoist Chu exchanged glances, both impressed by the revelation.
"This is no ordinary external elder," Daoist Chu muttered.
"Is she present here tonight?" Lin Mu asked.
"She should be arriving any moment…" Junior Elder Wang trailed off, suddenly spotting something.
"There she is."
Lin Mu and Daoist Chu turned their gazes toward the grand entrance, and at that moment, the atmosphere in the hall shifted as if the very air had grown richer.
A beautiful woman entered, gliding with effortless grace, her every step a rhythmic echo of elegance. She wore deep blue robes that shimmered like a tranquil ocean beneath the moonlight.
The fabric flowed like water, embroidered with delicate images of rivers, lakes, and lotus blossoms. Gold-threaded carps seemed to swim across the hem of her robes, only to leap skyward, transforming into a magnificent azure dragon that coiled around her torso, its eyes gleaming as though alive.
Her presence was a quiet storm—serene yet commanding, soft yet unyielding.
A gentle, knowing smile graced her lips as her fingers held a delicate fan, half-opened, its frame carved from polished jade. Her other hand rested gracefully at her side, adorned with intricate rings set with gems that sparkled like starlight.
Her hair, bound in an elaborate style with three elegant buns and several thick braids, was secured with gold hairpins shaped like celestial cranes. Despite being meticulously arranged, long locks of her lustrous midnight hair cascaded down her back, reaching the curve of her waist in silken waves. One could only imagine how long it truly was.
Every step she took commanded attention. It was as if ripples of energy spread from her, reaching out to those around her, making them feel inexplicably at ease, as if all their burdens had been momentarily lifted. The entire hall quieted, as countless eyes followed her in admiration, fascination, and longing.
Several men visibly swooned at the sight of her, their hearts hammering in their chests. Even the most disciplined cultivators found themselves momentarily breathless.
Lin Mu, however, was struck for an entirely different reason.
'That's Lady Yeon?' Lin Mu hadn't expected to see her here.
He immediately recognized her. The piercing gaze she had given him before was still vivid in his mind.
"It's Lady Yeon!"
"She's finally here!"
"I thought I'd never get to see her!"
"Ah! My life is fulfilled now that I have laid my eyes upon her!"
The reaction of the guests was nothing short of rapturous. Whether men or women, all were captivated by her, unable to tear their gazes away.
Lady Yeon finally reached her seat at the head of the banquet hall. With a poised movement, she turned toward the gathered guests.
"Everyone," she spoke, her voice as smooth as a flowing river, yet carrying the weight of authority. "I hope that you all have a great night!"
A chorus of cheers erupted in response.
As she took her seat, a pair of maids stepped forward, offering her a drink in an exquisitely carved goblet.
Then, as if sensing something, she subtly glanced around the hall—until her eyes landed on Lin Mu.
"She's looking at you?!" Junior Elder Wang was stunned.
The man's surprise deepened as Lady Yeon rose once more, the hem of her robes whispering against the marble floor.
"She's approaching us?" Junior Elder Wang whispered, scarcely able to believe it.
STEP. STEP. STEP.
With every step, it felt as if the very essence of the hall shifted, the air becoming heavier with an almost hypnotic pull.
As she reached them, her presence washed over them like a gentle tide, dissolving tension, soothing the mind, yet holding an unspoken power beneath the surface.
"Greetings, honored guests. I trust you are having a pleasant evening?" Lady Yeon's voice was as melodious as a wind chime in spring, its resonance lingering in the air.
Even Daoist Chu, who prided himself on his composure, felt his heart skip a beat.
"I am Daoist Chu, Core Disciple of the Zenith Dao Sect, soon-to-be elder, and a trainee of the Immortal Court," Daoist Chu introduced himself, his voice smooth but tinged with an undeniable eagerness.
"A pleasure to meet you, Daoist Chu," Lady Yeon said graciously.
"I-I am Junior Elder Wang of the Ministry of Commerce. It is an incredible honor to meet you, Lady Yeon," Junior Elder Wang stammered, bowing deeply.
He was offering her more respect than he even gave to the Minister of Commerce himself.
As someone well-versed in the empire's financial undercurrents, he knew just how much power Lady Yeon wielded. If she wished, she could cripple entire economic sectors with a mere flick of her hand. Few knew the extent of her wealth, but those who did, feared and revered her in equal measure.
"Greetings, Lady Yeon," Lin Mu finally spoke.
"Ah, Daoist Lin Mu." Lady Yeon's gaze met his, and her lips curled into a small, knowing smile.
"You… you know him?" Junior Elder Wang was flabbergasted.
"Of course," Lady Yeon chuckled lightly. "I had the fortune of meeting him before."
Daoist Chu clenched his fist in frustration. 'Damn it! One step too slow again. Another lost opportunity!'
Before Lin Mu could respond, Lady Yeon continued.
"I must apologize for the conduct of my friends before. I tried to stop them, but they were too hasty," she said, her tone tinged with genuine regret.
Lin Mu was momentarily taken aback but ultimately decided to let the matter rest.
"It's fine. No harm was done," he replied.
Daoist Chu, however, was left reeling. 'He met her already?! Just how ridiculously good is his luck?!'
Sniff.
Little Shrubby, however, had a different reaction.
'Master, she feels different,' Little Shrubby's voice echoed in Lin Mu's mind.
