"Yes, of course ...." Ellena hung up when she saw a familiar figure in front of her eyes.
Ellena stared dumbfounded at the man she knew very closely, standing right behind the glass cake storage, opposite her. I don't know how long he was standing there. There was no smile on his face. Even his expression looked very flat.
"Kee-Keenan?" Ellena softly still stared at the figure in question.
Yes, that man is Keenan. I don't know what the need is for him to dare to come to Ellena's shop. His arrival was certainly not just to buy a cake. There must be something that pushed him to come to that place.
It really made Ellena confused on how to deal with Keenan at this time. As much as possible she tried to neutralize the feeling by widening a smile. But unfortunately, there was no positive response from the man.
Keenan's gaze remained the same. There was something different about him. I don't know why the man was so indifferent in front of Ellena, wasn't he always happy to meet his lover before? however, why now it looks the other way around.
Ah, really Ellena is not comfortable with Keenan's attitude this time. It made her more and more embarrassed to see all the differences in the man. Somehow she had to start, while Keenan had already emitted a negative aura in front of her.
'Why is he so cold? Oh, what's wrong with me?' Ellena's mind began to wonder.
Not wanting to guess too much, Ellena again dismissed all the negative thoughts that were filling her head. She tried to remain as usual, although Keenan's attitude felt a little different from before.
"Kee-Keenan, are you here?" asked Ellena a little nervously.
No matter how hard she tried to shake off the awkwardness, still Ellena couldn't do it perfectly. The gaze that suddenly turned bright seemed as if she was catching herself doing a bad deed. Rigid. Yes, even she seemed unable to move.
What wrong did Ellena actually do, to make Keenan look at her like that?
"Why are you so nervous, Elle?"
Ellena gasped when she got a question from Keenan. Ah, finally the man actually caught herself fighting nervously.
"What? I-I'm nervous?" Ellena confirmed in a slightly stuttering tone, showing her nervousness even more. "N-no, it's normal, Keenan." She softly denied Keenan's accusation.
Ellena looked down and was busy with some cakes she was setting, deliberately wanting to turn away from Keenan's gaze that felt so piercing in her heart. This was the first time she had received such a glare from her lover.
Keenan still hasn't said much in the face of Ellena's attitude which is clearly very different in his eyes. He continued to observe every move of the lover who tried to turn away from him.
"Um!" The sigh that came out of Keenan's throat managed to make Ellena jump up a bit.
"What do you need to come here for?" Ellena looked up, daring herself to look back at Keenan. She also tried to neutralize her feelings, before Keenan grew suspicious.
"Which cake do you want? Let me get it. You sit over there!" said Ellena, pointing to the empty visitor's seat, asking Keenan to wait there.
Ellena began to act normal again and tried to understand Keenan, although she didn't know exactly what the problem was that had made the man behave that way towards her.
Keenan didn't directly say his purpose in coming to that place, but Ellena quite understood that the man's arrival was for her and nothing else that was unimportant. Willing it or not, he must still face Keenan, whatever the reason.
"I'll wait!" Keenan passed from in front of Ellena and walked towards the visitor's seat in question.
Meanwhile, Ellena was slightly stunned as she stared at Keenan's back which was getting further and further away from her. Until finally Keenan sat on the chair facing her.
Ellena gasped again when Keenan looked at her from a distance. She immediately diverted her attention and decided to immediately prepare a cake for Keenan.
The number of cakes available makes Ellena confused which one to choose. Besides, Keenan also didn't tell her what kind of cake she wanted. While choosing a cake, occasionally she looked at Keenan who was still looking at her. She's really getting worse.
A cake tongs that had been holding Ellena finally landed on the red velvet cupcake. After a long time of choosing, Ellena finally made her choice, considering that Keenan really liked the cake.
She put the cake on the tray, paired it with a glass of Matcha Latte Milk Ice. Ellena immediately brought the tray in front of Keenan.
"Please eat, I hope you like the cake," said Ellena as she put the cake and drink on the table. She then sat on the empty chair opposite Keenan.
"I don't need that, Elle!"
Keenan's statement again managed to astonish Ellena. What does it mean? Why did Keenan say that? Couldn't he have appreciated Ellena's efforts to host him as a guest first? Ah, does Keenan really don't understand Ellena's feelings right now?
"What do you mean?" Ellena was slightly wide-eyed as she looked at Keenan questioningly.
"I need an explanation from you, Elle!" Keenan said in a slightly annoyed tone, while his gaze was still reluctant to leave Ellena's face.
"What explanation do you mean, Keenan?" Ellena looked surprised and still didn't know where Keenan was talking.
"Should I make it clear, Elle?"
Not an answer, just a question that Ellena got from Keenan. It really made Ellena even more confused, where Keenan's words would end up. She looked dipped an eyebrow, before deciding to respond to Keenan's question again.
"Keenan, I really don't understand what you're talking about right now. Maybe you can talk directly without making me guess like this," said Ellena with a confused expression.
Look away. Keenan looked away for a moment in any direction, as if he wanted to show an annoyed expression. He then looked back at Ellena while showing a look of anger that he had been suppressing for a long time.
"Am I wrong to question the commitment you made back then?" asked Keenan who still did not show the clarity of the meaning of his words.
"Which of my commitments?" asked Elena still confused.
"Did you really forget it, Elle?" Keenan tried to make sure first before continuing his speech. "No wonder!" He added again looking away.
"Keenan, come on ... explain to me, what commitment do you mean?" Ellena whined while putting on a pitiful face. Really she can't be treated like that by Keenan.
"That's what you mean by agreement? That's also what you mean by theatrical marriage? Have you kept your promise not to touch him?" Keenan stared blankly as he threw a series of questions to the woman in front of him.
Luckily Keenan said in a low tone, so as not to attract the attention of other visitors who were there. Maybe because he also saw the situation and conditions in that place.
"Keenan ...." Ellena was unable to continue her speech. Her defenses collapsed.
Her teary eyes looked down at the face of the man in front of her. Somehow she had to explain to Keenan what had happened between her and Lucas.
She certainly couldn't dodge Keenan's question. Although Keenan didn't say anything else, she understood that there was something Keenan already knew about him and Lucas.
"Answer me, Elle!" Keenan said that suddenly made Ellena gasped.
"You even let that guy hug and kiss you. What do you call a skit marriage, without love? Tell me!" Keenan said firmly that he could no longer contain his anger, which made Ellen jump even more in surprise.
How did Keenan know all that?
Ellena just stared at Keenan's face, unable to say anything else. It's free for her to dodge. It seemed that Keenan already knew everything that had happened. Instantly Ellena wiped the tears that suddenly fell down her cheeks. Of course because she didn't want anyone else to see her tears right now, other than Keenan.
Should Ellena apologize to Keenan for everything that has happened? Even she still didn't understand about her current feelings. Dilemma. Yes, she was in a very dilemma. Who exactly is the man who now fills her heart? Is the owner of the heart still Keenan, or maybe Lucas has succeeded in shifting Keenan's position in her heart?
"Keenan, I'm sorry." Ellena whispered with her lips slightly trembling with sadness. Will her story with Keenan end here?
"It's so easy for you to apologize, Elle? You don't even realize that you've ruined my feelings!" Keenan said in a heavy tone, as if he was holding back disappointment.
"I-I—"
"Why? Oh, or what I saw all this time was just a dream?" concluded Keenan, again demanding answers. It didn't even seem like he cared about Ellena's crying right now.
"Kee-Keenan I'm sorry ...." Ellena paused for a moment. Really can't say much. "I'm sorry for breaking the agreement, but really I—"
"I didn't expect you to be that mean to me, Elle. You know I've always loved you. Have you forgotten, when my parents froze all my facilities, just because I didn't want to be separated from you, Elle! Is this my payback?"
Ellena was getting speechless. Her mouth is dry. Truly she was very sinful to have hurt a very important person in her life.
"You probably don't know how painful it is for me to see you making out with that guy. In fact he can do whatever he wants. It hurts even more when I know you're just quietly being treated like that. Is it that easy for you to forget me, Elle?
While in that place there was a heated debate between Ellena and Keenan, in another place Lucas was focusing on the cellphone screen in his hand.
"Damn, how dare he meet my wife!" he cursed as he watched the video scene recorded on his cell phone.
Yes, without Ellena's knowledge, Lucas accidentally connected his cellphone to one of the CCTV installed in his wife's cake shop.. This he did so that he could still monitor Ellena's cake shop remotely.
