"Elle, let's go to sleep! It's late, why are you still busy reading a book?"
For the umpteenth time Lucas persuaded. However, Ellena was still unmoved and busy with reading books on the sofa. Let alone fulfill the request of the husband, she did not respond to words.
The woman was seen sitting back with her legs crossed. In her hand was a novel by Sapardi Djoko Damono entitled "Hujan Bulan Juni", which never made her feel bored, even though she had read it several times.
Every now and then she glanced sarcastically at Lucas who was sitting alone on the bed. Ah, it seems that she is so annoyed that she doesn't want to respond to the man's words at all.
How come? Since the incident this afternoon, Joana informed about the disappearance of all the clothes she had from the closet. She finally found out who the real thief was in the house.
Yes, who else if not Lucas. It really sucks. It turned out that the man had deliberately asked Joana to move all of Ellena's clothes to his room, as revenge for his wife's meeting with Keenan.
"Come on, Elle . . . don't you have to work tomorrow? I don't want to see you sick, from staying up too much."
Lucas lowered one leg, intending to approach his wife. However, just as he was about to get up, Ellena immediately dispelled him with a word.
"Stop! Don't move and stay still over there!" Ellena said emphatically as she held out one hand in front of her.
This suddenly made Lucas unable to move. Even the body that was only half lifted, he had to throw it back onto the mattress wrapped in a bright white spari. Now he was sitting on the edge of the bed with his right foot hanging on the floor. Meanwhile, his left leg seemed to be folded on the mattress.
"How long are you going to be there? It's getting late, Honey." Lucas protested not wanting to give up while putting on a pitiful expression, hoping Ellena would melt with his persuasion this time.
"Until all my resentment towards you is gone, Lucas!" snapped Ellena which suddenly made Lucas chuckle in annoyance.
Seeing Lucas' face made Ellena even more irritated, even more so when images of the past few hours kept running through her mind.
Ah, Ellena still remembers how her mother and younger brother panicked when they found out that she had lost all the change of clothes from the closet.
Yes, the commotion this afternoon between Ellena and Lucas, apparently reached the ears of Martin and Briana. Just as Ellena was about to meet Joana, according to Lucas' suggestion, Martin suddenly appeared in her room first.
"What happened?" Martin seemed to walk into Ellena's room with a look full of inquiry. He then observed the appearance of Ellena who was still wearing a white bathrobe.
"Sis, what happened? Why were you shouting earlier? Did he do something to you?" A series of questions came out of Martin's mouth with a cynical look which then turned to Lucas.
Seeing this, Lucas immediately looked away while chuckling in annoyance, because he did not accept Martin's suspicions, which seemed to accuse him of having done something indecent to Ellena.
Just as Lucas was about to respond to his brother-in-law's words, Ellena had already answered the young man's question.
"All my clothes are gone, Martin," said Ellena, showing a slightly panicked expression.
Meanwhile, Lucas seemed to pat his forehead, when he heard Ellena's answer. 'Unlucky! Why did she tell Martin about that." He grumbled to himself.
"What?" Martin was so wide that his eyes almost popped out. "How did you lose your clothes, Sis?" He added as if in disbelief. To be more precise, he was astonished, as Ellena had felt before, the first time she had seen her empty wardrobe.
"Yeah, Martin. I don't know who stole my clothes either." Ellena complained.
"Thief?" Martin looked surprised again at Ellena's statement. "There's a thief in this house?" He asked for sure.
"Yes, I think so." answered Ellena flatly.
"Why are you just silent? Do something! Look, your wife's clothes are all gone!" Martin immediately protested to Lucas who seemed to massage his temples a little which didn't feel dizzy.
Lucas jumped again. He had to stop responding to Martin when his mother-in-law suddenly appeared there.
"What happened? Why was it so noisy earlier?" Briana asked with a surprised expression. Even she who had been downstairs all this time, could hear the noise in Ellena's room which was located upstairs.
"My sister's clothes were stolen, Ma'am!" replied Martin, enthusiastically responding right away.
Of course Lucas was getting annoyed. He returned to massage his forehead which was starting to get a little dizzy facing Ellena and her family.
'Ah, I'm really unlucky this time.' Lucas muttered, starting to get dizzy. It seemed he already knew what would happen after this.
"Thief? How can a thief enter this house? I have been at home, the feeling is that there is nothing suspicious," explained Briana, thinking a little and remembering what happened this afternoon. "Could it have happened while me weas taking a nap?" She added, starting to guess.
"This house is too big for us to watch with only two eyes, Ma'am. Moreover what was stolen was my sister's clothes, whose room was on the top floor," explained Martin, which suddenly made Briana slightly widen.
"Upstairs? This is your room? Your clothes in this room too?" Briana looked probingly at Ellena.
This of course made Ellena rounded in confusion. How to respond to her mother's question. Not to mention Lucas who also felt the same way.
Martin who realized this immediately pursed his lips. He realized that what he had said was wrong. He shouldn't have exposed the biggest secret of his sister in front of his mother. However, he was confused as to how to divert all his words earlier.
"Shouldn't your room be downstairs with your husband?" Briana asked, looking at Ellena and Lucas in turn.
Simultaneously Ellena and Lucas looked sarcastically at Martin. Of course they were upset. Because of that young man, they had to be faced with a confusing situation like this.
As much as possible Martin immediately avoided the gaze of the husband and wife. Acting nonchalant, it seemed like it would be much better for him.
"Elle—"
"Yes, Ma'am," concluded Ellena as if she already knew what her mother was going to say. Yes, what else if not demanding answers.
"I did sleep in the main room with Lucas, it's just that I put my clothes in this room because the wardrobe in Lucas' room is not enough to accommodate all my clothes," explained Ellena, who suddenly had a brilliant idea.
A happy grin appeared on Lucas' face. Finally he was saved by his wife's words. At least the mother-in-law wouldn't be too suspicious of his relationship with Ellena.
"Excuse me."
Before Briana had time to respond to Ellena's explanation, Joana suddenly appeared in their midst.
"Miss, sorry I have moved all your clothes to Mr. Lucas' wardrobe." Joana explained and managed to make Ellena rounded, then glared at Lucas' face.
I don't know since when Joana was there and listened to their conversation. It seemed she knew very well the problem that had managed to create a commotion in the house.
"So you moved all my clothes?" Ellena was slightly flabbergasted, not knowing how to respond to her maid anymore. Why was Joana so presumptuous to move all those clothes without her permission?
"Yes, Miss. I'm sorry that I just had the chance to tell you," replied Joana, bowing slightly, just to show respect to her employer.
"You shouldn't have panicked like that, Honey. I did ask Joana to divert some of my unused clothes and replace them with yours." Lucas tried to explain, even though that wasn't really what happened.
Seeing what happened this afternoon at the cake shop, he immediately called and asked Joana to move his wife's clothes to his room, just a small effort so that Ellena could sleep in the same room with him.
Instantly Ellena's jaw clenched, and her breath seemed to be a little hoarse from holding back anger. She seemed to know the ulterior motive behind Lucas' behavior. However, what can she do, she must persist not to vent her anger in front of her mother and younger brother.
"Why didn't you tell me, Lucas? If I knew that I wouldn't have to shower in this room!" annoyed Ellena tried to balance her husband's charade, in order not to want to see her mother getting suspicious.
"How can I tell you, when you guys don't even give me a chance to talk." Lucas replied, smiling slightly, seeing Ellena's increasingly adorable attitude.
Ellena was really furious with Lucas' attitude this time. How could she keep being fooled by that man. This time it even involved her mother and younger brother, though by accident.
Ellena opened the book which was still the object of her vision. Didn't care about Lucas who was still trying to wait for her in bed. Just let the man feel the retribution for daring to fool her.
"Damn, looks like she's really mad at me." Lucas hissed as he cursed, while his gaze was still focused ahead, looking at the figure who was currently ignoring him.
He lifted one leg back on the bed, then sat back stretched out without taking the slightest attention from the woman who was a few meters in front of him. He folded his left hand over his stomach, while his right hand seemed to be holding his slightly bearded chin.
It didn't last long. He instantly raised his gaze upwards, as if he had just come up with a brilliant idea. Ah, it wasn't hard for her to find a way to temper Ellena's emotions. I don't know what he will do this time.
He reached for the cell phone that lay helplessly on the nightstand on the left side. After that he seemed to be rubbing the phone screen and typing something there. Didn't take long. Put the phone back where it was before, then he returned to its original position. However, this time his hands seemed to be folded across his chest.
Lucas focused on looking ahead with his lips curled into a smile, while inwardly he began to count. "One two Three!"
"Aaarrrghh!"
