"Mr. Adley?"
Richard smiled brightly when he found Adley who had been standing there, who knows since when.
Richard certainly still remembers Adley's face very well, and vice versa. Even though they had only met once, it didn't mean they would forget.
"Good afternoon, Sir. Sorry, I'm too happy to see you here," said Richard, who had not had time to return Adley's greeting. He seemed to extend his hand, invite Adley to shake hands and immediately got a response from Adley.
Richard's face was still smiling. Instantly his gaze turned to the woman standing on Adley's right. However, only for a moment. He flinched when Adley's voice caught his attention again.
"Sorry for the long wait, Mr. Richard. We were stuck in traffic," said Adley flatly as he ended the handshake activity with his client.
"It's all right, Sir. I understand the constraints of travel in this town," Richard replied, not at all a problem.
"Thank you for understanding, Sir." Adley said with a big smile. "Oh yes, this is Livia, my secretary." He added, pointing at the woman standing beside him.
Richard reflexively glanced back at the woman, then stretched out his hand. Just like he did to Adley.
"Richard," said Ghibran introducing himself.
"Livia." Livia replied, appearing to smile.
Their hands fell off again. Without thinking, Richard immediately invited the pair of clients to sit down.
Richard quickly called the restaurant waiter to order drinks and snacks, as their meeting friends. It didn't take long, now the waiter had left the place with Richard's order note.
"Are you alone, Sir?" Adley asked reassuringly, as soon as he glanced at the two coffee cups on the table. Of course he believed that someone else had been sitting there before, apart from Richard.
Yes, long before Adley arrived at the place, Richard and Ellena had already ordered coffee, just to accompany boredom while waiting for Adley's arrival.
"Oh, of course not, Mr. Adley. I was accompanied by Patricia, my secretary. It's just that she was going to the toilet," replied Richard slightly flinched and immediately responded with a nod of his head by Adley.
"I apologize in advance because it was Mr Lucas, the head of our company who should have come to see you, but you know for yourself how things are now." Adley informed.
"Oh yes! I am sorry for the accident that happened to Mr. Lucas. If I may ask, how is Mr. Lucas' condition now?" Richard responded.
"Yes ... that's how it is, sir. Mr. Lucas is still not fully recovered. As a result of the accident he became unable to walk normally for a while, but now his condition has started to reverse. Maybe in a week or two he can come back to work, ' explained Adley at length.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Richard replied while putting on an expression of pity, empathizing with Lucas' accident. "I was also very surprised when I heard the news, even though I really wanted to meet him in person, but that's okay, maybe next time. I hope Mr. Lucas gets well soon and can carry out his usual activities," he added, looking regretful because he should have met with Lucas today.
"Thank you, Sir." Adley replied with a crooked smile on his face,
The atmosphere was even more melting, after they chatted casually for so long. Things that really don't matter to be discussed.
Before they had time to end the conversation, suddenly a waiter came with two cups of coffee and a plate of french fries in front of them. The waiter seemed to put one of the cups in front of Adley, while another cup seemed to be placed in front of Livia, Adley's secretary who had been silent all this time watching the two of them talk.
"Enjoy, Sir, Miss," said the maid just before she left them.
"Thank you," replied Adley and Livia in turn.
They resumed their previous conversation while waiting for Ellena to come back from the toilet.
Meanwhile, Ellena, who was still in the toilet room, seemed to be busy watching her reflection in front of the large mirror that was clearly displayed above the face wash sink which was deliberately designed neatly in the toilet.
Instantly Ellena was stunned to see her own face in the mirror's reflection. Ah, I think he'd rather be on the toilet than having to face the boss again and accept the man's annoying temptation.
His meeting with Richard seemed to make him trapped in two choices. Get away from that man without earning a penny or he stays and works for Richard's company to make a living.
Ah, all of that really frustrates Ellena to think about it.
"I'd be crazy if Richard treated me like that every day. Ah, why is life so cruel? Can't I just be given a chance to breathe a sigh of relief?" Ellena complained while putting on a pitiful expression. Lamenting her own fate.
Again she was confronted by the arrogant master, just like her husband. It was just that Richard seemed more relaxed when he acted and spoke. However, still she had no interest in the man and was more interested in Lucas.
"It seems that I always have to give in to fate." Ellena whispered again, as if she wanted to just give up.
Not! Not giving up, but rather surrendering to surrender her way of life to God.
"Yeah, after all who can go against fate? Everyone can't." Ellena looked self-assured. Instantly her hand reached out, turning on the water faucet in front of her, while her gaze seemed to be fixed on the mirror in front of her.
She washed the fingers that weren't too dirty. I don't know why Elena did this. Maybe she just wanted to get rid of the dust on her hands. After that, Ellena rearranged the clothes she was wearing and only slightly wrinkled, before exiting the toilet.
After a few minutes, she stepped foot, about to approach Richard who had been waiting for her for a long time. As far as the eye could see, Ellena found Richard's desk was no longer empty, there were two other people besides the boss. However, he was suddenly wide-eyed when he found the figure of a familiar man talking with Richard.
At the same time, Ellena's steps stopped, just a few meters from Richard's current table. She really did not expect to meet Adley in that place.
"Mr Adley?" She said stunned.
Ellena quickly turned around and ran, hiding behind the wall that divides the room. Her gaze was fixed on the table where Richard and Adley were sitting.
"Why should Mr. Adley be Richard's client.." Ellena grunted without taking her eyes off him.
